  • "A beautiful home in an amazing location."

We had a really lovely time. A lot of time has obviously been spent on compiling a history of the house and family which made very interesting reading.

  • "We enjoyed the lived-in feel of this ex-farmhouse with the memorabilia, old photos & art of the previous family members as well as historical records of property, auction sales etc."

Lots of books & board games. Comfortable firm beds. We also like the situation - isolated but in attractive farming countryside. The coastal path is nearby as is Carne Beach (which was full of dogs being exercised when we walked by !). Portloe & Portscatho were attractive villages, although they would be very busy in the school summer holidays. Highly recommended for those who like to walk the coastal paths ending up in a village pub. We recommend Veryan & its pub.

  • "The housekeeping was overall very sloppy."

For example : No rubbish bags left of any colour. Entrance porch very dirty and littered with mouse droppings. Outside shower dirty and floor of shower room unswept. One drawer in main bedroom still full of clothes. Upstairs shower outlet well clogged and smelt terrible. Ceiling light not working in bathroom. Basin hot tap unmanageable. Dishwasher not empty on arrival. Overall disappointing housekeeping and certainly not up to normal and expected standards.

Thank you for your comments, we’re very sorry to hear things weren’t perfect for you. We wish you had let us know at the time as we would have been happy to help resolve for you. We’d like to reassure you (and other guests) that following receipt of your feedback we have discussed the issues with the cleaners and they have accordingly focused their attentions in order to ensure that all of these areas are tackled. We’re confident this was a one off and we hope you’ll be happy to return in future. Property Owner

  • "Polcreek Farmhouse is an amazing place to stay."

The farmhouse was cosy and warm with an open fire and heating for those beautiful sea misty days... the farmhouse kitchen was well equipped and we cooked amazing food... my family and I enjoyed the tranquil and beautiful setting of the farmhouse which has an interesting history and character, plenty of space for outdoor badminton and bowls... my 2 year old granddaughter spent most of her time playing in the adjacent half acre of land with apples trees and sea views; farm life and birds... It was a wonderful place for our family to get away from the city, following an extensive lockdown period... most welcomed and appreciated... plenty of coastal walks, lovely nearby beaches, and we plan to book a trip to the farmhouse on a regular basis, dates permitting... I would like to say a big thank you!

My husband was a bit worried by the uneven large bumps on the driveway. Was looking for a spade so he could level some of them off. Other than that, no complaints.

  • "Lovely house, great area."

We enjoyed our week there very much. House had almost everything needed and was full of character (there is some history in a folder in the sitting room but you need to find it hidden amongst other folders and photo albums). Only criticism was no mention in details that towels not provided. We had to go and buy some.

Not a swanky house, this is more of a family holiday cottage for those who want a place with character. The beach is perfect and a beautiful, hilly short walk away. We are rebooking for next summer.

  • "We spent a lovely stay with our in laws and adult children visiting the local area, which is stunning."

The house is down a grassy track and is in a most peaceful area. The garden loops around it so there’s always a place to sit and catch the sun. The orchard area is particularly lovely as the sea is just in front. We noticed a footpath on one of the maps but couldn’t find it very easily. The walk to the beach takes about 15 mins and was well worth it to take a swim. Lovely traditional house with lots of games and toys. It was a pleasure seeing the owners family artefacts, pictures, photos dotted about the house. The housekeeper did a great job in getting the house ready and we really appreciated the fruit loaf left for us. Thank you for a lovely stay. We really enjoyed it. We didn’t bring our dog in the end but she would have loved it. Thank you the Taylors, and Groves family.

Full of history, with relevant art works, maps, paintings and ornaments throughout, copiously supplied with books, albums and local information. Remote and superbly located, with spacious bedrooms and living quarters. Truly top echelon and exceptional, after a lifetime of experiencing outstanding cottages. Probably best suited to those appreciating truly rural, tranquil conditions - nobody passed the door all week.

There’s also a TV in the living area, it was lovely watching films in the evening with the lit fire, anyone looking at going please don’t hisitate to book, you won’t be disappointed, the pictures really don’t do the house favours, it’s much more beautiful, we are looking to go again in November and will defiantly be returning every year and making many memories with the whole family, thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "Polcreek Farmhouse is the perfect location for a rural family holiday, or just to get away from it all and recharge the batteries."

We stayed during a wild and windy November weekend, which was beautiful and atmospheric. I imagine this property during Spring and Summer must be wonderful. We arrived to find the house warm and welcoming with fresh flowers and hearty tea loaf for our consumption. Everywhere was clean and tidy, and the kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. The shower in the bathroom was efficient and the footed bath a little touch of luxury. The men in our group also enjoyed the outside shower room. Several cupboards contained board games to play, and one cupboard contained enough toys to keep our two year old entertained all weekend. The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and contained a vast selection of books. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and will return.

  • "A wonderful family farmhouse in a wonderful setting."

And we were very grateful that they let us take 4 dogs (although we only took 3 in the end). We were a bit worried about the outside shower but I think the internal bathroom must have been updated and that was a lovely surprise! Endless hot water was much appreciated after beach days. And the book collection in the house was pretty amazing - perfect books for all ages. All in all a lovely house in an ideal position. The walk down to the beach with amazing views was a real treat. We hope to be back. We were surprised at how quiet the surrounding area and beaches were in that part of Cornwall even in bank holiday week......a definite advantage compared to the busy-ness of North Cornwall.

The property

Polcreek Farmhouse is a splendid typically Cornish 17th cent.

family house, in a tranquil setting at the end of a lane, 1¼ miles from Veryan.

It is very private, only the occasional farmer herding sheep passes by.

This is a wonderful place for a carefree large family gathering, or group of friends.

The big living room has an open fire with the original slate and the equally big dining room has a sensible slate floor, through to the farmhouse-style kitchen with breakfast table and stools; there is also a ground floor WC and, ten paces from the kitchen door, a shower-room, ideal for sandy bodies.

Head upstairs to the four bedrooms, a king-size double and three twin rooms, lovely views from up here, but mind that low lintel on the landing!

Also, a family bathroom.

A peaceful family-friendly place in a great position for enjoying the lovely coastline.

There is a small front garden and ½ acre of mown grassy space with rustic table and chairs.

Carne and Pendower beaches are a mile away (the two merge at low-tide to give a mile of sand).

National Trust land surrounds the house to a mile radius.

If you can drag yourself away nearby St.Mawes and Mevagissey are worth a visit, along with the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project.
