  • "The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfy."

If you like quiet and remote, this is a definitely a place to stay!

  • "We loved this property, loved the remoteness and access to footpaths from the door, we loved the 'old school' nature of the property too, we would definitely come again."

  • "He cottage is in a fabulous location, but, the sofas were very small old and uncomfortable, the cooker was so used you had to guess which knob did what, the living area is very small, the neighbouring cottage is very close, the toilets smelt a bit of sewage, possibly septic tank needs emptying?"

? We still enjoyed our holiday though, beautiful walks from the door, hardly ever went out in the car, and watching the wildlife from the private dock on the estuary every morning was fabulous (a bench there would be a great idea), saw herons, egrets, kingfisher, even a peacock!!

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback which we have discussed with the owners of Tregithey Barn.  The sofas and the cooker will be replaced when the owners are at the property in the next couple of weeks.  Regarding the slight sewage smell, a sewage specialist has been arranged to visit the property in October to check the drains. We value your feedback and are glad that you enjoyed your stay and the amazing location and we very much hope to welcome you back to Tregithey Barn in the not too distant future. Property Owner

  • "A delightful barn in a very peaceful location - all you could hear were crows and cows."

A lovely setting near the creek with a good local pub. Worth pointing out that there is an adjacent rental property. Main problem was the smaller downstairs bedroom which has no windows and is crampt for two twin beds. The other bedrooms were fine. Lounge area was small for 5 and certainly 6 would be too tight. Sofas were a bit tired and lacked comfortable support. Kitchen area was fine. On a positive note the housekeepers were very helpful and when the toaster broke they were prompt in providing a replacement.

  • "The sofas were very small, uncomfortable and provided inadequate seating for 6 persons (there were only 4 of us but we struggled on the sofas) the beds were also not very comfortable."

Apart from these things, we had a lovely stay and the barn itself was in a great position and had all necessary equipment.

Thank you for your feedback. The owners will be at the property in October and have confirmed that the sofas will be replaced. We have also asked if they can check all of the beds during their stay. We are so glad to hear that you had a lovely time and that you enjoyed both the property and its amazing location. ! Wonderful secluded, peaceful retreat. Well equipped and maintained. Well thought out welcoming pack. Would highly recommend.

  • "The setting is idyllic and the cottage spacious and beautifully restored with an efficient heating system."

There is a cosy wood burner in the living area. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. It is very secluded, peaceful and detached although there is another house next to it. It is in an excellent location for visiting many beautiful places. We especially enjoyed going to Kynance Cove and the Lizard. Because the cottage is so tucked away you do have to drive on very narrow roads a great deal of the time to get to places. There is plenty of local information about places to visit, and walks , in the cottage. We highly recommend this place and would love to come again.

  • "If you want a very quiet and isolated break (especially during COVID) then this is ideal."

The local pub does an excellent Sunday roast. A pleasant surprise was the dark sky, no light pollution. I got a nice photo of the Milky Way.

  • "Location was fantastic."

Although with no view of water, the situation was very near and the walks were magical. Directions and sat take you down very narrow lanes. Going via St Keverne maybe a little longer but less daunting if travelling in the dark The barn was well equipped and cosy. There were a couple small repairs needed like fridge door and light plus ground floor storage heater which had broken controls. Otherwise all was very good.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are very pleased that you thought the location was fantastic and the property well equipped and cosy. We would also like to thank you for bringing a couple of issues to our attention, these have been dealt with. Property Owner

  • "We needed a last minute extra house that would take a dog."

When o spoke with Sue to enquire about another house she phoned the owner to check availability. Unfortunately the owners had not delisted their property and were using it themselves. However, before phoning me back to deliver that bad news, Sue had found another property, phoned up he owner and confirmed to me that we could book this house. That was excellent service and she deserves recognition for initiative and exceeding customer expectation. Well done!

  • "We were disappointed that the WIFI was not sorted, and felt that it shouldn't be advertised as having it."

We couldn't see any existing connection for this at all, and WIfI was partly why we chose this property. The property itself was fine however the furniture was rather dated and a bit tatty and we were disappointed at first. It really wouldn't take much to improve things, ie the wardrobes wouldn't stay closed except for tissue paper stuffed in them? They are charming but need mending. The curtains were all almost falling off too. We didn't use the downstairs of the property at all except for the tumble drier and front door. It would have been much more useful to have the back door key instead. There were a lot of cobwebs downstairs in the bedroom. Saying that, the position was wonderful, and we loved having the calves so close by, and watched for the daily feeding ritual!! So so peaceful, just cows, rabbits, foxes and birds for company ( except for the holiday residents of the farmhouse next door of course) Despite the few flaws, I would still recommend a break at this property, especially if you crave a bit of peace. You do have to be pretty good at driving in very narrow country roads though. Some absolutely lovely pubs and villages on the Lizard and the local pub in Manaccan, the New Inn was delightful.

  • "The whole building had a damp musty smell, more so in the ground floor rooms."

The heated towel rail was not working, the heater not working, light above the mirror not working I was told these would be fixed within the week, they were not fixed in the 2 weeks. The bathroom bin had not been emptied from previous visitors. The barn looked a little uncared for. The radiators in the bedrooms would not turn off, even in last weeks heat. It had a very well stocked kitchen, the beds comfortable. It was isolated and very peaceful with lots of local footpaths. We would not book it again.

  • "Tregithey Barn is in the most idyllic, peaceful location."

The Barn is spacious and generally comfortable: it would easily accommodate 5 people, possibly 6 in the three bedrooms and there is plenty of seating. The kitchen is very well-equipped for cooking and eating and the washing machine and dryer are a bonus in Cornwall! There are wonderful walks from the doorstep and the gardens around the property are very pleasant. The only issue we had was that when we arrived the barn felt cold and quite damp. Apparently nobody had stayed there since December and only the storage heating in the lounge area had been turned on the day before. The convector heaters supplied did not work. After we had turned on all the storage heaters in all the rooms the barn gradually warmed up and within a couple of days the situation was vastly improved. We'd like to stress that this is our only criticism and we are aware that we were holidaying in February! Overall, we highly recommend Tregithey Barn

About the location

MANACCAN

Helston 10 miles ; Helford 1.5 miles ; Porthallow 3 miles

The village of Manaccan on the South Helford is small and friendly, with an excellent restaurant, friendly village inn and a beautiful 12th century church. The South Helford is arguably one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Cornwall. With meandering country roads, picturesque creeks, tidal inlets and pretty waterside villages, the area can be summed up in three words: tranquil, charming and timeless. The perfect spot for enjoying outdoor living, the South Helford’s sheltered coves were made for messing around on the water and strolling leisurely along the banks. Leave your ‘phone behind and embrace the simple pleasures - while away time paddling in the shallows, explore hidden coves with a hire boat from St Anthony, and stroll through woodland to enjoy a picnic on the beach.
