• "Excellent accomodation beautifully decorated and excellent facilities and kitchen items."

  Very spacious for 6 and 2 dogs. Only problem was smart heating that kept resetting that couldnt overide making it very hot if wasnt in or during the night. We turned rads off in bedrooms as never have heating on during night. Plus if was sorted would save money for owner. Apart from that fantastic. Nicest place stayed. Son left blue tooth headphones under pillow in twin room nearest to door. Have they been found ?happy to pay for postage.

• "A lovely property in an ideal location, very clean & comfortable."

  Everything in the property was good quality. A couple of small niggles :- not much of a welcome pack, one pint of milk & a small bag of chocolate drops, we usually have a lot more in other places and we’ve stayed at a lot. The moss & leaves outside were everywhere and I was clearing the steps & path regularly. I know it’s February but it just would have been nice on arrival if the steps had been cleared. One last thing, on arrival the property was very cold & it would have been a lot more welcoming if the heating had been on.

• "We could not fault the property."

  So comfortable, we felt at home within an hour of arriving. It had everything we needed. Very spacious,beautifully furnished, and the location as lovely and quiet. Our only gripe was the very steep hill between the bungalow and the beach.

• "We have stayed in many Skyes properties over the years and visit Cornwall every year."

  This was our first stay at Penlan and it didn't disappoint. The property is very well equipped, comfortable beds, fantastic showers and plenty of room. Due to the close proximity to the railway line we also made good use of that going to St Ives. We would usually walk there takes about an hour then get the train home. We would highly recommend.

• "We have stayed in many bungalows, apartments, and cottages in and around St Ives and Carbis Bay over many years."

  Penlan is undoubtedly one of the best, if not, the best we have stayed in. It was very clean, had all the equipment we needed, the facilities were excellent and the location was good. The furniture and beds were of the best quality and very comfortable. We highly recommend this property and the instructions and support from Sykes cottages.

• "This place provided everything we needed and more."

  The beds were really comfy and we all enjoyed our welcome pack , Benson especially enjoyed his biscuits and outside was really safe for him to roam about. We will definately be coming back and have already recommended it to friends. It was an added bonus to have sky which we watched on the comfy settees. It was really near the station where we caught the train into St Ives.

• "As with others reviewing this wonderful property, we were blown away by how beautifully appointed, equipped and spotless it was."

  A lovely welcome pack of milk and Cornish goodies included - even hand-made dog biscuits ! Good position too - just wish I'd found the large fields with sea views just up the road from the house sooner in the week (it was quite a long, steep road down to the beach otherwise) - great for the morning dog walk. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

• "We had a very comfortable stay at Penlan."

  The property has everything you need & is in a great location for accessing everything on foot. It’s definitely a great choice if you want to take your dog on holiday with you - lots of fantastic walks on the doorstep & the beach is just down the road too. Just one minor issue during our stay - we didn’t find the front door very easy to lock & we were given a bent key initially. This is definitely something that needs to be looked into for future guests - especially as the lock turns, you think you’ve locked the door but you haven’t. This didn’t impact on our holiday however as we were able to lock the door eventually. We definitely recommend the property. Thanks for a lovely stay.

• "Absolutely fabulous property."

  We felt at home immediately. It had everything we needed for our family of 5 which included 3 young adult children and our dog. The location was perfect for the beach which our dog loved and being out of season had no restrictions. We often come to the area and will definitely be back to this property. • "The property was perfect for us on many levels and beautifully presented."

  Everything has been catered for with an extremely well stocked kitchen, The cleanliness was second to none. Given our previous experience at another Carbis Bay property last year, it was pleasant to see the cleanliness issues had been addressed. The location is perfect. However, we knew the area hence why we selected this property. Unfortunately our stay was left a bit somber due to a leak in the roof which occurred early in to our stay. Given the leak was within the cupboard which housed the main consumer unit, this did cause concern. Carbis Bay representative attended the same day and a roofer was called the following, who confirmed there is a hole in the felt roof which in turn was causing the leak. Due to the weather, heavy rain. the leak did become worse and as such we no longer felt secure within the property and left a few days before our holiday was due to end. We have had no follow up from Carbis Bay since they acknowledged us vacating the property. I do hope this matter was addressed whilst the property was empty.

• "Great property!"

  Great location! We loved that there was a train station so close to the house to get into st ives (3min train journey) for £1 each way. My only criticism (if you can call it that!) is I couldn’t find a pizza cutter, there may be one so apologies if there is but if not may be worth getting one! Thanks for a great stay!

• "Absolutely fabulous bungalow."

  We loved the interior decor, which was very stylish whilst also being homely and comfortable. The beds were super comfy with lovely linen. Loved the pictures throughout the house, really gave the property great character. Perfect off road parking & plenty of safe / secure outdoor garden space for children & dogs. Very convenient location for beaches, the train station and St Ives. Carbis Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever been to in the UK. We would highly recommend this property. Every little detail has been thought of, we had the best time - thank you Penlan for having us!!!

• "Loved our stay in Penlan."

  We took a risk when booking, as the bungalow was being renovated at the time so there were very little photos to see but we are so glad we took that risk- it was beautiful! So many lovely touches which made our stay feel very homely. Amazing that it was dog friendly - we had the best week exploring all the breathtaking beaches around the area - the bungalow is in a fabulous location. The only negative is that our week went way too quickly!

• "Well we feel really blessed to have been able to stay in Penlan."

  It was our 40th wedding anniversary. We had to arrive at midnight due to a work commitment and the pint of milk in the fridge was most welcome. The local team were fantastic as we had to take receipt of a covid day two test at the carbis bay offices. They co ordinated brilliantly. We have booked again already for next year with Caribs bay holidays which we have used many times before. Thanks again for a great holiday

• "The cleanliness of the property was no where near satisfactory and very dusty indeed handfuls of dust infact in every room ( I have photos of this when we arrived and had to clean lots of the property before we could unpack) medication ie tablet was found in children’s room which is unacceptable and proves that cleaning just wasn’t good enough even though you have added 2 further hours since Covid ( delaying our check in time) to allow for a more thorough clean?"

  The fault with the hot water was sorted 4 days after arrival but for a property of that standard it wasn’t really good enough at least twice both myself and my son nearly scolded ourselves with the hot tap in the bathroom. The issue with the wooden floor was also terrible and several times it was a tripping hazard especially for my young children again not good enough especially for such a new property. Overall good location but disappointed with the standard of property especially when we have stayed with Carbis Bay holidays on many occasions

Unfortunately, Carbis Bay Holidays weren’t made aware of the cleaning issues during your stay, had you reported these issues to us during your stay we would have done our utmost to resolve them for you as quickly as possible. • "Accommodation was beautifully decorated & in a great location."

  We love st ives & carbis bay. I was slightly disappointed by the lack of response to email enquiries from carbis bay holidays prior to our visit. We had a couple of issues with the accommodation- flooring was damaged meaning we had to be vigilant in watching the children when walking in that area, we personally think small things like providing toilet rolls & refuse bags would help.

• "My family and I had a fabulous stay at Penlan during a very hot week in July."

  The house has been beautifully renovated recently and feels very relaxed and calming when you arrive. I loved the layout and seating areas which are really good for families and lots of space too! The welcome pack and photo album helps you to settle in and learn about the area. Our main feedback is about the garden, we would have loved there to be a BBQ as the disposable ones are not very effective or safe. But we've got our fingers crossed that one may appear by the time we go back next year, as we've already booked again for August 2022! Carbis Bay is a beautiful area with links to surrounding towns on the train being really quick and avoiding having to keep driving everywhere. I've reccomended this home to lots of family and friends already.
