“Such a relaxing place to stay.”

Just what we needed in these difficult times. The owner was very friendly and also very helpful.

The property

This beautifully presented Cornish converted barn is in an enviable rural setting, high above the Tamar Valley with wide sweeping views across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This cottage, attached to the owners' home, is in the pretty village of Chilsworthy, just a short stroll from the village pub.

This character cottage feels light and spacious with its floor-to-ceiling windows, white beams and amazing views across the wooded Tamar Valley.

The furnishings in this romantic retreat are of a high quality, the sofa and king-size bed are so comfy, and there is always a welcome of a delicious Cornish cream tea on arrival.

The well-equipped, contemporary kitchen with dining area, leads to a lounge with 30ft high beamed ceiling and open tread stairs carry you up to the pretty bedroom with a quirky low window.

The cottage has its own private decked garden, where you can sit and gaze at the amazing sunsets over the valley.

From the cottage there is a spectacular walk down to the wide, gently-flowing River Tamar, where you may spot an otter or a kingfisher.

A short drive away is the award-winning pannier market town of Tavistock, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and Plymouth is only 30 minutes away.

Or why not visit the Tamar Trails Centre where there are 25km of trails to explore on foot, bike or horse and other outdoor activities such as canoeing on the river, all in the heart of the beautiful Tamar Valley?

Morwellham Quay is also close by and is a historic port and part of the World Heritage Site, where you can travel by train along the banks of the River Tamar, before venturing deep underground into a Copper Mine.

After a busy day out, The Linney is a lovely, romantic rural retreat to come back home to and relax.

About the location

Gunnislake 1 mile; Tavistock 6 miles.

Chilsworthy is a small rural Cornish village with spectacular views across the Tamar Valley towards Dartmoor. There is a welcoming village pub and walks directly down to the River Tamar and the village of Gunnislake. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the Tamar Valley encompasses a breathtaking landscape that is as diverse as it is historically important, and is now part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. From here there is easy access to both the north and south Cornish coasts, Port Isaac, Rock and Padstow to the north and the pretty local fishing harbours of Polperro and Fowey to the south. The historic market town of Tavistock, wild and beautiful Dartmoor and the National Trust property of Cotehele are also all within easy reach.
