It has been tastefully decorated and is very well equipped (can’t think of anything that wasn’t supplied) the sun was even included for our stay. It was great to be able to explore some places in Cornwall and have a lovely place to come back to. The cream tea was a welcome surprise and much appreciated. Many thanks Steve & Kim

Sheila and Peter are very welcoming and have thought of everything to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The homemade cake was scrumptious too! The cottage is so comfortable, well equipped, very clean and quiet. Wonderful for bird life and there is even bird food left for you to put out to encourage them. The location is perfect for visiting this lovely part of Cornwall and it was such a pleasure to come home to the cottage at the end of the day and just chill in the garden. We would definitely recommend Poldark cottage and hope to return when we are next in Cornwall.

  • "This is a well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage on a small farm complex."

It is very quiet and peaceful with little noise or light pollution. There is a medium sized private garden with seating although the weather prevented us from using it which was a shame. There were a few very minor niggles which were quickly sorted out by the owners who were staying on site during our stay. It is easy to get to either the North or South coast of Cornwall within a reasonable time and an ideal location for taking advantage of the many National Trust properties in the area, the nearest being Lanhydrock. We had a great time here and would highly recommend it for others.

Thank you for taking the time to review Poldark Cottage, we were so glad you enjoyed your stay. We were more than happy to help you with getting the heating at a comfortable temperature for you, we are always available to help with any queries or questions at any time, thank you for giving us the opportunity to do so. I think the couple of cold nights we had during your stay took everyone by surprise after the previous hot weather. Sheila & Peter. Property Owner

The owners are very pleasant and easy to contact, they leave you a delightful welcome tray ready for when you arrive. The property

Poldark Cottage is a beautiful, romantic character cottage that forms part of the south wing of a beautifully converted courtyard of ancient farm buildings, known as Higher Penhole Farm Cottages, in East Taphouse, Cornwall.

Believed to have once formed part of the Lanhydrock Estate, the cottage is perfect for couples looking for a peaceful retreat, whilst being near to the south coast.

In a very private location, the cottage is approached from the brick paved parking area, across an extensive private lawn to the inner garden patio area which leads to the front porch.

The patio area is surrounded by shrubs and flowers and captures the sun, making it perfect for an afternoon tea, an evening tipple or an alfresco meal at any time.

From the moment you step out of your car you will notice the peace and quiet of the Cornish countryside, interrupted only by the sounds of the wild birds that live in the surrounding trees.

From the garden gate you can enjoy views south over the surrounding farmland and down the wooded valley to the ancient deer park.

At night, if you have clear skies, you will be amazed by the sight of millions of stars and planets, as light pollution is minimal.

The quality furnishings in the cottage include a three seater sofa and a two seater sofa in the lounge, as well as a sumptuous king-size bed in the bedroom, which is the same size as the lounge.

The contemporary, tiled en-suite bathroom includes a double walk-in shower and a heated towel rail, to keep your towels warm and dry.

Heating in the cottage is provided by an electric fire in the lounge, an oil-filled electric radiator in the hallway, which is thermostat controlled, and electric log burner-effect stove in the bedroom.

A well-equipped kitchen provides a full-sized under counter fridge with ice compartment, a double oven with ceramic hob, as well as a microwave oven, a dishwasher and a washer/drier (a washing line and pegs are to hand), and a wealth of other kitchen equipment you may need for your holiday.

In the lounge there is a large flat-screen freeview TV and a DVD player as well as a small music centre with CD player and a selection of DVDs and CDs for your use when you want to wind down after a busy day on the beach or exploring the delights of Cornwall.

There is also a TV and DVD player in the bedroom and a small selection of books and games for you to use.

Poldark Cottage lies only nine miles from each of the ancient fishing villages of Polperro and Looe; at Looe, there is also a fine beach which you can enjoy, whilst still having access to the shops and pubs, cafes and restaurants that are throughout the town.

You can also enjoy boat trips from the centre of the town, including fishing trips and tours of Looe Island which now comprises a famous wildlife haven.

A little further afield lies the sailing village of Fowey, famous for its connections with Daphne du Maurier, and Poldark Cottage is only seven miles from the village of Lostwithiel, the former ancient capital of Cornwall and where the Black Knight once resided at Restormel Castle, which you can visit if you wish.

It is an interesting village with individual shops, including antique shops, as well as cafes and restaurants and several pubs.

Whatever sports or activities you enjoy whether it be walking, swimming surfing, sail boarding or cycling, or just relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery, there is plenty to enjoy in this wonderful part of Cornwall.

The adjoining property reference 915191 can be booked with a Saturday start day, which can increase accommodation to six people.

Poldark Cottage is a perfect base for a couple to create a truly memorable holiday.

Note: This cottage is next to Ref. 915191, together sleeping up to 6 people.
