  • "A fabulous property with majestic views from both the lounge and the tiered garden."

Weather was superb, which helped enjoy the walks around Coverack, but at the end of the day Pretoria was a lovely house to return to. Very well appointed inside, with exceptional artwork for a holiday let.

  • "Lovely space for our weekend - we particularly loved the upstairs lounge and gardens."

Downside is not being able to park to unload or indeed park outside the property but this is explained in the arrival info. Any issues we had were quickly dealt with by the owners - thank you.

  • "The Cottage was immaculately presented."

There was everything that we could possibly need. Location, views and garden a real bonus. Clear instructions for all appliances. We felt welcomed and respected, and Pretoria was a real home away from home, (but with Much better views!),

  • "Pretoria was comfortable and homely, the view from the upstairs room was fabulous."

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. When we look to book anyway our priority is the closeness to the sea, views from the property and also garden space with views we can also enjoy whilst sitting outside, something we love doing at every opportunity. The garden was disappointing, the table and chairs were placed behind a hedge which blocked the view, I appreciate that privacy is needed. The back garden was overgrown but out of bounds due to a deep drop. The pictures give the impression of a lot of outdoor space and plenty of seating.Maybe this is something that can be looked into in the future to make the garden more user friendly. There was also a lack of hanging space, appreciate it is an old house and is difficult to get wardrobes etc in all rooms, especially the 2nd bedroom. We had to share the wardrobe, not always ideal. The description for parking was a bit confusing until we arrived. We believed there was parking available to the cottage, but the only parking is either on the street below or further away. Fortunately as it was reasonably quiet and they seemed to be more relaxed we were able to get parked mostt days on the street below the cottage. Generally the cleanliness was very good, the worst bit was probably the shower which needed a deep clean, mainly in the corners. Hope you see this as constructive feedback and not criticism. Having said all that we adapted and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to book Pretoria again.

  • "Pretoria is a perfect place to stay in Coverack."

The upstairs lounge is spacious and the views over the ever-changing colours of the sea across the bay are stunning. Coverack itself is delightful. A small harbour, coffee shop, well-stocked local shop, pub, fish 'n chips, church. Not busy (in May). All facilities in Pretoria are as in the description. The decorations are very pleasant: shower's good, beds' comfortable, heating comes on automatically and can be controlled on each radiator. An excellent stay.

  • "The property is lovely!"

The views from the first floor living room are amazing. It’s so relaxing to sit up there and soak up the sea views. The property is well equipped with all things you need for a comfortable stay. The property has lots of little steps which could be tricky for some - but wasn’t an issue for our family. Overall a very nice little cottage with exceptional views.

  • "My sister and I were bring our nearly 90 year old mother to Pretoria and I had rung and spoken to one of your staff before booking, about the suitability of the cottage."

As she did not know the accommodation first hand she got in touch with the owner and then got back to me saying that other than the stairs being a little steep there should be no issues. Well the steps are extremely steep, 2 bedrooms have further steps to them, there is no ground floor toilet and there is a long, steep driveway to the cottage, only accessed on foot. My mother found the week very challenging physically. I do not think the property description is clear enough.

A beautiful property to stay in with stunning sea views, a real home from home. Coastal walks from the door and a minutes walk from the front door to the beach , great for our 4 year old. Many nice places to eat. We got take out food from the Paris Hotel and ate at The Old Life Boat house which has great sea views plus the little cafe near the harbour serves excellent food and ice cream! Only a short drive away are many beautiful places to visit. We have had another brilliant holiday, just perfect.

  • "Just a couple of minor niggles 1: Directions to property, when in Coverack, are a little vague as Chymbloth Way as listed for dropping off is not marked near the property,we asked in the shops for directions."

It is in fact on the right as one goes up the footpath marked with a sign. 2: The sink in the toilet would not hold water. 3: The shower riser is loose. 4: The garden was not pet( dog) friendly,as we had local dogs getting in through the hedge.I understand that next year dogs will not be allowed so this would not be a problem then. The property would also benefit, I would say, from having a hand rail for the stairs, and maybe a reminder above the kitchen door to mind ones head. On the plus side the property was very comfortable, well appointed and with amazing views of the bay. We were greeted with lovely cream tea supplies when we entered, very kind and also delicious! All in all we had a great time. Great walking from the front door!

  • "We wait all year for our holidays, don't we ?"

Work hard, and look forward to being able to ' get away ' at last, for a well earned rest ! So, Sykes was the ' go to ' company for all our 'holiday cottage needs ' . The cottage that we rented from Sykes had everything that we could need. On entering we were greeted by a vase of fresh flowers, and a lovely cake dome containing freshly bakes scones, with clotted cream and strawberry jam waiting for us in the fridge. But it also provided fluffy white towels, beds supplied with crisp cotton bedlinen, and top quality duvets. The kitchen had essentials such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels and so on. We loved the tv with dvd, Netflix etc.. and the bookshelves filled with novels and local flora and fauna information. Maps, and books on the history of Cornwall. But, icing on the cake ! Half way through our fortnights' holiday the changeover team came with fresh linen and towels for us ! Cleaned, and left everything ' sorted '. Such comfort ! But really, we had help on hand too; When the boiler accidentally went out, a kind ' fixer ' immediately turned up and restored our hot water for us. Most reassuring. We cant wait to go again ! Thank you Sykes, we look forward to many happy years renting lovely holiday cottages from you. Kitty Lambah

  • "A beautiful cottage providing everything we needed and more to enjoy our holiday."

On arrival we found scones with cream and jam to enjoy, just what we needed after our long journey. The information the owners had provided with regard to staying at Pretoria and what Coverack and the surrounding areas has to offer was really useful. The views from Pretoria are stunning. Coverack turned out to be a perfect location, offering coastal walks from the door, a beautiful beach, which with our 3 year old son we spent hours on collecting sea shell's and climbing on the rocks. We enjoyed snacks from the little cafe near the harbour and Fish and chips from the Old Life boat house. I couldn't resist making a few purchases from the village shops. I really don't think anything I could write could justify the beauty of Coverack and comfort of Pretoria.

The property

This dream detached cottage, with amazing far-reaching sea views is set in the small, picturesque, unspoilt fishing village of Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula.

The cottage is ideal for families or groups of friends looking to enjoy a coastal holiday with the village being built on two sides of a spur of rock that juts out into the sea.

With a large, sheltered crescent shaped arc of sand ideal for swimming and watersports only a few minutes’ walk away, this is a very special cottage in a wonderful location.

Tucked away off the main road through the village and approached up a narrow lane, the moment you arrive you know you are at a most relaxing cottage full of character.

Entering with a small snug room on the right with a welcoming woodburner for the cooler evenings, you also have the dining room, kitchen and utility room on the ground floor.

Taking the stairs leads to the most spectacular room in the house, the large sitting room with the most amazing views.

Many a day, whatever the weather, will be spent in this attractive room marvelling at the views and relaxing with a drink in hand.

There are three beautifully-furnished bedrooms here, two king-size double rooms and a twin.

Outside is a most unusual garden with sitting and relaxing options all around, and boasting more outstanding views.

Right from the cottage there are glorious coastal walks, and with the beach so close by days spent without the need for a car are definitely called for.

A stroll down to the Paris Hotel on the harbour offers great local ales and a good choice of food, and along with other fine small restaurants and shops this coastal village offers all you need on a daily basis.

An excellent cottage for a memorable seaside break.
