  • "Cottage needs better cleaning there is a horrible smell that lingered all week."

Loads of cobwebs grime on stair rail. I have now removed most of these. Carpets very cheap in bedrooms need replacing . Wifi would be a bonus there is a modern but not connected. No Iron, pegs, luke warm water. Small things that could be put right. We will return and hoping this will help owners to put things right

  • "Absolutely FANTASTIC cottage, spacious and spotless!"

Loved our holiday, lovely area, 10 minute walk to Crantock beach (free parking if you’re a member of the National Trust) loved the area, lovely and quiet at night. Shop and 2 pubs just a short walk away, beautiful food in the Cornishman pub. Lovely, comfortable beds, big TV (put on AV5 to get the programmes). Cottage is lovely and warm and the owners left us a welcome pack of: milk, a fresh, crusty loaf and a cake - very thoughtful thank you so much. Absolutely loved it in your cottage and didn’t want to leave. Fabulous base for a great holiday. Thank you.

  • "I had read previous reviews, but we had a very pleasant surprise when we arrived."

The house was warm, spotlessly clean and even had a little Christmas tree in the dining room, which was truly was a lovely touch. Thank you. Everything we needed was there in the kitchen. A couple of hand towels would have been useful, but the ones we had were beautiful and fluffy, hotel quality. When we come again we'll bring our dvd player. Thankyou for a perfect Christmas holiday. Ps hubby said mind your head on the stairs! Lol.

  • "Despite numerous phone calls we were without hot water for 3 days which is totally unacceptable."

Fixtures and fittings in the property were very dated and not of the quality I would expect for a Sykes cottage. Very disappointed in the accommodation and not sure if I would use Sykes again after this. would like a refund for the inconvenince of the experience.

  • "There is a huge damp issue in every room and the house smells terribly of damp, the blinds are even mouldy."

There are no toilet brushes, there were no linen bags left as specified. The washing machine was filthy. The light in the shower room doesn’t work and the toilet seat was falling off in the bathroom.

  • "Good points: Very nice location, 15min walk to the beach."

Local shop, great local pizza and pub within 5min walk. 10-12min drive to Fistral Beach and Newquay town centre. Negative points: Cottage looks a bit old and out dated. Can smell damp in the kitchen. Very disappointed about Wi-fi - my bad that I haven’t check if there was any Wi-fi at the property, this days Wi-fi should be a standard future. Upstairs carpets cheap and feel a bit dirty. Overall: I would not recommend to my friends, can find better property.

Comfortable furniture and good kitchen. We loved it.

  • "The cottage was dirty I had to clean it all."

No Information about recycling. Know bags supplied for bedding and towels. Disgusting BQ left in the back garden and cigarette ends left in the stone garden furniture. Black and Ginger dog hairs every where. It's a worry that it was like this with Covid? I always take my own kitchen roll and Cif spray thank God I did the work tops and sugar tea and coffee containers were disgusting??? I left them as I bought my own stuff the kettle was still full which shouldn't be Cushions need throwing away and the mat outside. There needs to be all light bulbs in a light not just three attention to detail . The location was great and the cottage could be lovely Regards Jane

  • "Trvowah cottage was really really nice, the cottage had absolutely everything you would need, the enclosed garden very safe and not overlooked, the beautiful village centre is very close, and the beaches are easily reached, we just had a lovely holiday, a credit to the owners."

  • "Really nice cottage in a great location."

It had everything that we needed. We were concerned about the comments left about parking but did manage to park our large estate car diagonally so that it was not overhanging the pavement.

  • "We would book this cottage again in the future although a couple of points for the property owner to help other customers are there was no information provided on using the heating if req and the tv you have to press av4 to access the tv or it wont work and the settee would be better if it was a vinyl or leather type because some pet owners had let there pets go on the furniture and we had to hoover it before use this isn't the fault of the property owner just the few pet owners who allow this to happen."

the cottage was clean and in a nice area a short walk to the beach or village with a post office and pubs also well placed for other seaside towns . we have an estate car and never had any problems parking on the stone drive it was a good no fuss holiday let would recommend

  • "The rising damp in the kitchen is shocking and literally leaves a mould smell on everything in the lower cupboards - owners must look at rectifying this as this is a serous health issue for some people."

The supposed deep clean was certainly not evident and I could clean this property better. No access to storage shed and no DVD player for poor weather days was a dissapointment too.

  • "I'm not sure how the tick system works as a 4 tick property I would have expected more as the kitchen was very basic, with not even a sharp knife or wooden spoon, the kitchen also smelt of damp and also plagued with ants on the work top."

The bulbs in the bedroom lamps had not been checked and had to buy new bulbs. There where cobwebs all over the ceiling and the hoover left slot to be desired.

  • "There is an issue with parking which is only really suitable for a short length car."

Otherwise your vehicle protrudes over the footpath which isn’t ideal. The window above the cooker is screwed shut which causes steam etc., to build up and we even had to open the back door when cooking bacon. Overall we were really pleased with the interior and would return. However, some instructions on using the heating/wood burner etc., would have been helpful. It would also have been nice to have received a small welcome pack of some sort and some logs for the wood burner. Th personal touches were missing which was a real missed opportunity to have the cottage rated higher.

The cottage is close to a very lovely pub with pub food and very reasonably priced. All we needed was very close. The cottage is a great base for exploring.
