  • "Absolutely brilliant."

Clean, modern, quiet and incredibly spacious (6 adults had plenty of room). Even better than the photographs, which I know a lot of people have also mentioned previously! Such a wonderful property and we loved our time here. So many great features- loved the TVs in all bedrooms and the hot tub. Fabulous value. Thank you for such a wonderful stay- we would love to stay again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to future guests.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, it truly means a lot to us. It was lovely to meet you and hope to see you again x Property Owner

  • "We were blown away by Old Orchard Barn!"

It was homely, immaculately presented and kitted with all the mod cons. The photos and description really do it no justice. Every small detail is well thought out with customer experience in mind. My favourite touch was the biscuits, cider, chocolate and dog treats waiting for us when we arrived, very thoughtful and very much appreciated. The only downside was that it rained so much that we didn’t get chance to use the enormous hot tub ;) Thank you Natalie and Ben, we absolutely loved our New Year getway.

But I have only one suggestion 9:30am checkout time was too early for us ,with two kids it's difficult to come out of hangover and get thme ready by 9 ;)

We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and it was lovely to meet you. Due to the lack of change over staff in the area we have no choice but to request check out at 9.30am in order to have the house back up and running in time for our next guests. Property Owner

  • "Locating the property was easy with the instructions given."

The property is very special, beautifully laid out. We would definitely stay again if visiting Cornwall. The layout inside is good for visitors with access issues, the enclosed garden great for dogs. The Lane is quiet enough for a daily dog walk. Bedrooms very comfortable, and plenty of comfortable seating. Very handy having TVs in every room. The owners were not intrusive but really helpful when asked. I found the location close to one of the main roads, handy for attractions and shops, pubs.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Old Orchard Cottage."

We mainly chose it because all of the accomodation was on one level (as we have a 1 year old) and so we would not have to worry about stairs and stair gates. The layout worked very well for us, and we found the property to be very clean and well equipped. We particularly loved the garden and hot tub, which was well used. When we had a minor issue with the shower in the en suite, the owner was quick to respond and fix the problem. The only slight issue for us was that it was very bright in the bedrooms in the morning, as there are Venetian blinds in all bedrooms rather than curtains or blackout blinds. However, this may not be a problem for some people or in the winter months. We used temporary blackout blinds in the rooms where the children slept and this did the trick.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and it was so lovely to meet you. We opted for venetian blinds as we feel it gives the property a light and airy feel, these are shown in the photos. At this time of year the sun is up early and we've been very lucky with the beautiful weather we have been having of late. However I totally understand where you are coming from when you have a baby to try to keep asleep so I'm so glad you managed to sort out a temporary blind and that did the trick for you. Thank you so much for booking with us and hope to see you again. Property Owner

The added touch of biscuits and cider on arrival was lovely too, and we will definitely be booking again.

About the location

ST MELLION

Saltash 6 miles; Liskeard 11 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

The small village of St Mellion is situated on the Devon/Cornwall border, close to Crocadon quarry, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and the St Mellion International Resort, which offers golf, leisure and spa facilities. Just 6 miles away is the town of Saltash, which is dominated by the magnificent Tamar Bridge, one of Brunel’s masterpieces of engineering. The bridge takes people from Devon to Cornwall across the Tamar River, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the town also offers a number of shops and pubs, as well as narrow streets, which rise steeply from the banks of the river. From the old quayside there are river trips up stream to Calstock, a pretty village with white cottages on a steep hillside. Here, the 120 foot giant 11-arched Calstock Railway Viaduct towers above the River Tamar and carries one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines down to the coast. The area offers some beautiful walks and cycle routes within the locality of St Mellion, plus the exploration of both moors, Bodmin and Dartmoor and the picturesque coastal paths and beaches of North and South coasts. The city of Plymouth is within driving distance, from where there is plenty to occupy visitors, including the historic Plymouth Hoe and Barbican quayside area with cafés, shops and bistros, the National Marine Aquarium and several theatres. There is something for everyone. Cornwall has many cultural attractions with National Trust properties, such as Cotelhele House & Quay just a few miles away, or the Minnack Theatre, Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project all within easy reach. St Mellion is the perfect base for exploring both Cornwall and Devon.
