  • "The site itself is basic but as advertised."

Everything you need to survive is nearby and travelling further afield takes you to lots of interesting places due to the parks central location. The hot tub was lovely but, like a few things, could have done with a little TLC. Jets fixing, cooker light replacing, sticky front door but it's all minor stuff. For what and where we needed it to be we were very happy. If you are going with kids get a decent plan in place as you'll need to find them things to do but it's all in range.

  • "We stayed in Lowena for our honeymoon ("familymoon" with our children) and it was lovely!"

We are normally campers, so staying in a little lodge was a bit of luxury for us, especially with the hot tub! We loved all the personal touches, cute little beach decorations around the cabin, and the sofa was very comfortable. All the bedding, plates, towels, etc provided were clean and really good quality items - and we were supplied with everything we needed. We were thrilled. St Day Tourist Park was a quiet park in a very lovely little village. We will definitely be back again in future :)

  • "Positives: The location was ideally located near Perranporth for the skydive dropzone we planned to visit; site staff was so lovely, especially Nathan; loads of outdoor space and not overlooked, very comfy patio table and chairs; hot tub was fantastic; stayed very cool even in hot sunny weather; beautiful flowers on arrival; BBQs are allowed; rotary drier outside; good site laundry room (£6 for a wash, £3 dry)."

Not so great: The lodge had a very musty smell to it, both of us suffered from allergies whilst we were there so suspect there might be some mould/damp issues, all of the blinds had a lot of mould on them; some of the bedroom furniture looks quite tired; kitchen is not well fitted, one of the cabinets only opens/closes if you open the oven; bedrooms are very tight, you need to unpack as there's nowhere to lay a suitcase down, standard double bed in main bedroom; the water pressure in the electric shower is very poor, very difficult to wash thick / curly hair, bathroom in general seemed pretty damp and tired, the extractor didn't do much, so window had to be open all the time, radiator very small so couldn't dry towels unless they were hung outside. Bottom Line: It was fine for what we needed it for a few nights, I think very much helped by the great weather we had so we spent a lot of time outside. I don't think I would rate it a 4 tick property, needs a refresh to achieve this.

About the location

ST DAY

Porthtowan 5 miles; Portreath 6 miles; Truro 7 miles; St Ives 20 miles; Falmouth 10 miles.

St Day was originally named after the little known Saint Day or Dye (better known in Brittany). The village now has a pub and convenience store, as well as a granite, gothic-style church dating back to 1828. Six miles away is the popular village of Portreath which attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese takeaway, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 7 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast to Gwithian and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
