  • "A lovely property in great location, only a 5 minute walk to Crooklets beach."

House had a lovely home from home feel to it and a great sized garden for our dogs too. Would definitely stay here again.

It had everything we needed for our week's stay. Beds comfy, pillows great, shower (1st floor) amazing after a day out walking. Well located to watch the sunset at Crooklets. Town centre can be walked to if fit enough as hilly. Loved it here we will be back.

Location was excellent property was lovely very clean facilities were very good I even managed to work microwave but I couldn’t work the oven or grill I did read the manual but couldn’t get it to switch on but we had brilliant week despite the storms thankyou

We are sorry to hear that you couldn’t work the oven, had we known we could have sorted it for you. But we have good news, that temperamental oven has now been replaced with a brand new oven as part of our kitchen refurbishment. Since you enjoyed your stay we hope that you will come back and stay again. Property Owner

  • "On the whole a great place to stay."

Could do with a lick of paint particularly in hall as stained walls and kitchen cupboards door pealing off veneer finish. Brilliant and effective heating and hot water, a very comfortable property.

Hi Vicky, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have now learnt that the discolouration on the staircase walls is a bad reaction between the coats of paint. Never seen this before but will be redecorating to sort this out. Kitchen cupboard doors have been affected by steam and heat due to usage. As you can imagine there is no easy fix for the doors and a major revamp of the kitchen is now taking place. We hope that you will come back and see all of our improvements. Property Owner

  • "We thought the property was lovely and enjoyed our stay."

The dogs loved the safe garden and the nearby beach. After reading a review saying it was 'tired' we felt it was good not being 'immaculate' as this made it much more homely and it had all the modern conveniences and looked good to us. We hope to go back to Awel-Y-Mor sometime next year.

Everything was included for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The location was perfect with the beach being literally 5 minutes walk away and the town a lovely 15 minute stroll along the coast. It was also a great base to explore other areas of Cornwall.

  • "Awel-Y-Mor was very clean on our arrival."

There is an enclosed garden which is great for children/dogs. The area is very good as only about a 5 minute walk to the nearest small beach with another not too much further. Sainsburys & the small town about a 10 minute walk away too. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils and crockery. The house is a bit 'tired' looking and could do with a bit of time and TLC spent on it. Bathroom towels supplied were only small bath towels, Bath sheets would be much better!! Also, a door mat at the back door might be useful as nothing to wipe your feet on (or the dogs)!! However we did have a lovely stay there and Bude and the surrounding area are well worth visiting!

  • "House is in a great location, close to the town and beaches."

We had an issue with the main bedroom smelling of dog when we arrived, this was rectified quickly the next morning when the bedroom carpet was vaxed which cured the problem. The property is tired inside, paintwork patched up, wooden flooring very tired, front covering of cupboard coming off over cooker, bathroom woodwork patched up, could also do with some modernising. No anti slip shower mat in shower and could also benefit from a door mat inside back door. Wi-Fi very slow and patchy. Not the best Sykes property we’ve stayed in over the years, but we enjoyed our stay in Cornwall.

  • "What a beautiful house in a beautiful location- our dog loved the garden."

Very peaceful location and so close to the beaches and Bude town ( no big chain stores lovely independent shops which is a breath of fresh air ) so many places to eat and have cream tea. You don’t need to drive anywhere as there is so many walks on your doorstep. The beds were so comfortable with crisp white linen sheets on zzz as soon as our heads hit the pillow. We will be back.

Thank you so much for these great comments. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and our house. Hope to see you again! Property Owner

The house and garden was perfect for us. Unfortunately the cleanliness let the property down and we missed the little extras that you seem to get with smaller holiday companies.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We appreciate the time you have taken to let us know the issues you faced whilst staying at our property. We have investigated the issues raised and have made changes where needed. We continue to provide tea, coffee, milk and sugar as well as a few extras to make guests feel at home during their stay. The property offers parking for three cars off-road, as well as a large courtyard garden with immaculate lawn and a seating area, where you can enjoy breakfast and a morning coffee in the pleasant Cornish sunshine.

Head inside the property to discover a contemporary kitchen with cream units and powder blue painted walls offering a beach feel, fully-equipped with all of the appliances you'll need during to create delicious meals, which can be enjoyed in the living/dining room at the dining table.

After dinner, move over to the sofas and relax beside the electric fire, enjoying a family film night on the TV.

When it's time for a good night's rest, head upstairs to discover three bright and airy, carpeted bedrooms, comprising a double, a twin which has a zip/link feature and can be made into a super-king-size, as well as a single room with truckle bed, ideal for children.

There are two shower rooms, one on each floor, where you can prepare for each day, while the ground-floor room houses a washing machine for added convenience, should you have wet and sandy clothes to clean after a day of beach fun.

The property is within walking distance of a host of amenities, shops, café, pubs and restaurants, as well as a lake, a golf course and a choice of three picturesque beaches.

The 19th century Bude Castle offers a history museum, art gallery & cafe and is also a popular venue for weddings, while the magnificent South West Coast Path runs right through the town, which walkers can join to explore the coastline in either direction.

Head north along the Hartland Cornwall Heritage Coast to find unspoiled, cliff-backed beaches, and continue towards Devon and the picturesque harbour village of Clovelly, with its museums, RNLI Lifeboat Museum, stunning waterfall, idyllic harbour and family-friendly beach.

Head south along the coastal path towards Pentire Point, passing Boscastle's Pentargon Waterfall, The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, the National Trust's Rocky Valley, St Nectan's Glen nature reserve and dramatic waterfall, towards Tintagel's legendary castle, which was the birthplace of King Arthur, as well as Merlin's Cave and the National Trust's Glebe Cliff.

Awel-Y-Mor is a fantastic base from which to explore North Cornwall's stunning coastline.

About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
