  • "Absolutely fantastic, very well equipped, great location with glorious views and garden."

  • "Really well thought out property with everything we needed, very warm, lots of space and seating, generous supply of logs and lots of hot water."

The weather was fairly wild but we stayed snug and played games. More coat hooks and a shoe rack would be good, as the hallway got very congested. The single beds were not very comfortable but maybe they were bought with children in mind, not adults. The biggest problem for us being a party of 6 adults, was the rubbish collection situation. It’s not much fun on holiday having to go to the local tip, as you’ve too much rubbish for the allotted collection amount!

Stayed 4 years in a row. Brilliant location, well equipped & comfortable house with secure garden for our dog. Highly recommend. The host is really helpful and always leaves a couple of delicious scones to welcome us.

  • "Property was really lovely."

Everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided. It was warm even during heavy frosts and having the ability to increase the temperature if needed was a bonus. Couldn’t fault the property at all. The only reason for 3 stars were the roadworks, which marred our stay due to the long diversion down narrow roads, but these are only temporary and under normal circumstances wouldn’t have been there. Great walk down to Welcombe Mouth which has interesting rock formations. Property views are super. It really is a beautiful area.

Really well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and fantastic lounge/dining area making the most of the beautiful views. The local pub was nice, limited menu but good food. We would definitely go back.

  • "Tidewood is a beautiful place to share with family and friends."

The wraparound floor to ceiling windows give amazing views across the countryside and to the sea beyond. We loved watching the sunsets from the deck. The beds are very comfortable and having 2 walk in showers was useful for those in our group with limited mobility, likewise having the living areas and bedrooms on one floor. It was lovely having a wood burning stove. We also enjoyed the garden and watching the birds and butterflies. The kitchen was very well stocked with ample pots and pans, large fridge, freezer and a great coffee machine. Although we didn’t have one, it is very dog friendly with lots of walks on the doorstep. It was also easy to explore many of the local beaches and towns by car. We also enjoyed having a great pub with very good food within walking distance. Thank you to Elizabeth and Steve for all the hard work and thought they clearly put in to make Tidewood a wonderful home for a holiday.

  • "A really beautiful house in a lovely quiet location but within easy reach of both Devon and Cornwall."

The house was immaculate when we arrived with a lovely plate of fresh scones with jam and cream - such a lovely touch. Bedrooms were spacious with ample wardrobe space. The kitchen area with adjoining sitting area was great and was where we spent most of our evenings after being out all day. The kitchen has everything including an air fryer ! Grounds/ gardens were spacious ans great for our dogs to run around - they loved it. There is a pub just a 2 min walk away - the old smithy inn which was lovely - great food if not a little on the expensive side but worth it we thought. Would highly recommend this house

Thank you very much for the lovely comments, I am glad to hear your stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I would just like to correct one point for future guests, we don’t have an air fryer at the property. Unless it was meant to say air dryer! Elizabeth Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely home."

Spotless on arrival, breathtaking views from the decking. Very close proximity but not encroaching to the Old Smithy pub which served excellent food. Very handy extra of having a warm water hose outside to hose off any sandy feet or, as we did, for the dogs. Would definitely stay again.

Superb facilities with everything you may need . One point I would recommend… Elizabeth should consider installing EV charging … it is an inconvenience to have to rely on public charging. (one that I was happy to take at this quiet time of year) it would also be an opportunity to increase revenue!

  • "A lovely property which was very well presented and spotlessly clean."

The scones on arrival were a nice touch too. What ever the weather we felt very connected to the countryside around us with all the windows, hours were passed simply watching the barley crop behind us sway in the breeze and the shapes of the occasional cloud, and at night the stars shone bright and we gazed in awe at the milky way. Magical.

The property still warm and cozy even in winter, especially when using the log burner, which was a great treat to sit by when having dinner. The only disappointment we had is when it was time to leave. I can’t express enough how conveniently located this property to all the Cornwall & Devon attractions, and yet remains quietly tucked away in a village off the main roads. Look forward to booking up again soon.

Tideswood for us was perfect light and airy with fantastic views, couldnt wish for more. Well appointed and a good size for larger families. fantastic garden for the pooch to run around. Coast walks on hand about a mile away, but explore the beautiful woods again so close. Please note which is not negative feedback, the wifi is slow not the owners choice I would think as the setting is rural. also be prepared for bigger families the fridge is not the largest.

The garden is big and great for the children to run around in and play. We had a mix of weather so the rainy day games and jigsaws were a great addition. The cottage is 1.5 miles from a beach, which we did walk to. The views from it were stunning, but it isn't a sandy beach, so not one for the children to play on. There are several other local beaches though, so that was covered. Thank you for a great holiday.
