  • "We had a lovely week's stay in Inny Brook Burrow."

The cottage is really tastefully decorated and well equipped (right down to torches plus spare batteries) . Both human and doggie welcome packs were a lovely touch, and very much appreciated. The outside space is small but all that you would need, and having the stream running past the garden is pleasant. I can just imagine how nice it would be sitting outside listening to the water trickling past with a glass of wine, but since it was February we didn't get the chance! There are recycling bins onsite which is a bonus, saves having to find bins locally. The location is perfect for exploring Cornwall. The only negative comment I have is to echo the other feedback, there is a dampness issue, hence why my review is 4, not 5 stars. Another niggle (but completely out with the owners control) was another guest allowing their dog to run through the front gardens. So if there was any dog poo in the front garden it wasn't from my dogs....

  • "Had a lovely stay despite the weather."

The cottage was nicely decorated ,clean and comfortable and had everything you needed . Pet bowls and towels provided which were very welcome especially with all the rain we had.. The road down to the cottage was a bit daunting for driving but then again this is what you'd expect in Cornwall. I would Definitely recommend.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments - if only you had sunshine! Property Owner

  • "The property is quite small but beautifully done and on a pretty development."

The only thing that caused us problems was the damp. It was quite bad in the kitchen in particular and we had to wash all cutlery and crockery before use as they smelled of damp. Unfortunately, clothes in the wardrobe would be damp the next morning. The smell of damp was sometimes quite overpowering.

  • "We was without hot water for the whole stay except the shower which was very good."

The was a smell of urine in the bedroom near the window and the bed wasn't the comfiest. The bungalow was very clean and location wise was good, a nice peaceful location.

  • "Nice setting and place is well equipped there is a damp problem though which you can always smell."

It leaves clothes and bedding feeling a little damp. Also the shower switch burnt out while we were there which took out the electrics, the housekeeper dealt with this very quickly

  • "We had a lovely stay at Inny Brook Burrow when we arrived everything was lovely and clean and a lovely welcome pack for both us and our dogs, the cottage had everything we needed it was nice and peaceful, the garden was lovely just a shame we couldn’t sit outside in the evenings as the weather was not on our side but the sofas were very comfy for relaxing with a glass of wine or sitting in the snug."

The cottage is in a great location for exploring the North Coast with plenty of great places to explore.

Thank you for your kind comments. Such a shame that the weather was so awful! Nevertheless we’re glad you had a lovely time. Property Owner

  • "Having read the previous review I can say I was slightly anxious about our stay."

The owner contacted us 2 days before to clarify some things that were not available, notably that Netflix would not be available as was previously listed, I note that the listing has been amended now. The property was clean and inviting. The property was very comfortable and a welcome return after long days walking. The kitchen provided everything we needed for our stay. Even our dog felt welcome with bowls, towels and trays available. The property gave us access to Cornwall as well as Devon which was great! The narrow country lanes are an experience to be sure. Thank you for a comfortable stay.

Thank you for such lovely feedback and for staying with us - it is very much appreciated. We’re pleased you and your dog had a good holiday and enjoyed the area. Property Owner

  • "We were the first guests to occupy Inny Brook Burrow under new ownership."

The new owner spoke with me on the phone the day prior to our arrival, on his return home from the property to confirm that everything was in order and awaiting our welcome. It was a holiday with memories we would like to forget. Our findings upon arrival: Accuracy of listing - Not accurate. The listing portrays a pristine 5 tick property. In reality, the condition has clearly deteriorated since the time when the listing was first placed. During our stay, and due to the change of ownership, the listing was briefly readvertised by Sykes as “new”, however, the listing and photos to truly present the property in its current state has not changed. Cleanliness - not clean. Filthy in most areas. Internally: Filthy hard floors, windows, doors, layers of dust and debris on all surfaces and ledges. Pitted black mould on curtains and blinds, stained dirty carpets, hair and debris clinging to the base of curtains. Other areas too numerous to mention in this brief review. Comfort: The listing boasts a riverside camellia garden, an idyllic space to relax? There is not a camellia in sight? There are no flowers at all, apart from living weeds and plastic hanging balls laced with cobwebs, as is the entire rear of the property. The garden furniture is rusty and green mouldy, unfit for its purpose? A totally depressing, unkempt outdoor space. Facilities & Maintenance - listing states entertainment with complimentary movies with Netflix? No Netflix? The property is in great need of a thorough deep clean, replacement of carpets, blinds and garden furniture, and an uplift in decor, both internally and externally. The owner believes that £100 compensation for our totally compromised and stressful holiday is adequate, which is inclusive of payment in recognition of my personal cleaning services, a pre agreed arrangement with the owner that, if I obtained the cleaning materials and equipment, and carried out the basic necessary cleaning, to try and make us more comfortable, I would be compensated for my efforts? This is a true and honest review, my opinion of the cleanliness is not subjective, as has been evidenced by photographs.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us, we are very sorry that you didn’t have a perfect time and experienced these issues. It’s certainly true that much of this has come about due to the change in ownership and whilst we worked hard to ensure there wouldn’t be an impact to you, clearly that turned out not to be the case. Unfortunately some of the arrangements we believed were in place with the previous owners didn’t come to fruition and that adversely affected you. We would like to both let you know and to reassure future visitors that we have personally conducted a thorough deep clean of the property inside and out and we have employed a wonderful cleaning company whom we know are continuing with the high standards we demand (along with lovely welcome treats they provide for our guests and their dogs). We are fully confident the description is accurate and that people can trust in the photographs shown. We are sorry again though that this wasn’t your experience and we hope our substantial goodwill gesture will help to make things right. It’s so important to us that our guests at Inny Brook Burrow enjoy a wonderful stay and we look forward to welcoming future visitors. Property Owner
