  • "We loved this spacious warm beautifully decorated property and the art works on the walls so well equipped as well even a slow cooker and breadmaking."

My one request would be for thicker duvets at this time of year or some spare blankets.

Thank you for your kind feedback, we are delighted that you had a great time at Penbarden Barn . We take your comments on board with regards to duvets and blankets and will look to address your request. Property Owner

  • "Great cottage in a convenient and quiet location for all attractions in north Cornwall."

Clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Good wifi, and Netflix! Access to the coastal path right from the door. Would definitely stay there again if we were in the area. Six adults might find the seating a bit of a squeeze but OK for fewer than six or with kids.

  • "Garden a lot smaller than in the picture on the website."

Entered the property to be greeted by a strong smell of bleach(found out a few hours later this probably masked the smell of the septic tank) it smelt worse in the en-suite toilet.French doors glass absolutely filthy with handprints from children and adults. Bathrooms need smartening up specially the one at the end of the upstairs walkway(mould in grouting).Shower in en-suite is ridiculously too small for any average adult, rooms a great size so why put such a small shower in?..Double Mattress in en-suite room was really hard probably the most uncomfortable 7 nights sleep myself and husband have ever had.Sofas downstairs accommodate 6 people at a push so the only other option for the remaining 2 people was a single hard upright chair, not comfortable at all.No footstools or recliners which the majority of people in most households have. Our last moan was the view to sea, hardly visible too so much greenery/bushes being too high(need cutting). On a positive the kitchen is great and has lots of utilities(no recycling?)very peaceful position and ample parking. The Netflix was a nice touch as well. Many Thanks

Thank you for the feedback we are terribly sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at Penbarden Barn. The pictures on the website offer a true reflection of the accommodation, views and garden including the lounge area which does offer 2 occasional armchairs as well as the sofas pictured. We aim to maintain extremely high standards of cleanliness and have made our management company aware of your comments. Had you notified us of your concerns during your stay we would have endeavoured to rectify them immediately. Property Owner

  • "We stayed with 6 adults 2 children and a baby."

The property was very spacious and well equipped. The barn was very accessible to the surrounding areas but was in a very quiet area. The views from the upstairs bedrooms of the sea and sunsets were amazing. Considering the rural location the broadband connection speed was amazing (100mb+)! We have stayed in several Sykes properties and this is certainly one of the best. Would 100% recommend!

Thank you for taking the time to complete the feedback and for the great feedback. Glad you enjoyed your time at Penbarden Barn . Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely, comfortable, welcoming house."

IIt was spotlessly clean with Covid- secure information and plenty of hand sanitiser. It's an deal base if you're looking for a relaxing holiday and for exploring the North Cornwall coast by car or by foot. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated - particularly liked the Amanda McAndrews art work. There is a lovely garden with seating and eating areas. The accommodation is flexible for a group or families but is not too big for a couple. A lovely bonus was the roadside stall at the bungalow next door selling eggs and locally produced jams etc. We received a warm, informative email from the owners a few days before our holiday and one during our holiday to check everything was OK. Highly recommend this property.

  • "We loved our stay at Penbarden Barn!"

It's a beautiful building well off the beaten track, surrounded by farmland, with great views across the North Cornwall Coast. It's really well equipped (with super fast broadband – far better than the usual poor connections provided) and well laid out for larger groups (there were six of us, but it would have comfortably hosted 8). It's close to the lovely rocky beach at Crackington Haven, and in easy reach of Bude to the North, and Boscastle, Tintagel and Padstow to the South. Only a couple of miles from the A39 Coast road, but completely tranquil with only the occasional tractor or intrepid driver taking on the challenging road to Widemouth via Millook (not for the faint of heart, due to its steep, narrow, twisting road… heading towards Crackington/Wainhouse Corner is much easier!). Covid rules were implemented sensibly and proportionately, and it felt as through the place was clean and well looked after. The owners were also responsive when we had the occasional question. All in all it was a brilliant place to stay, and we hope to be back again in the future.

Downstairs double bedroom worked well, if you are a earlier riser. It was next to kitchen and there was shower and toilet on same floor so you did disturb rest of party.

We had plenty of space for the 6 adults and 2 children in our group. Bonus was having 3 separate bathrooms and easy parking for 3 big cars. We were unsure what to expect with the Covid requirements but we had everything there we could have needed. Fantastic location and the sunset view from the coastal path behind the house was absolutely stunning. We will be returning!

  • "It is a lovely barn conversion, well appointed but needs a slight spruce up."

Just a small number of niggles; a radio would have been nice, a hook is needed on the shower room door, the outside of the windows need a clean, a shower/bath mat would have been handy. Small things perhaps but they make the difference. Oh, the key safe outside is so stiff you struggle to open it.

  • "Fantastic, well equipped accommodation."

Plenty of space of all of us 7 adults and 1 child. Lovely scenic location. Sink in en suite didn't run freely, not sure if there was a blockage somewhere. This didn't ruin the holiday at all. Would highly recommend and stay ourselves again.

  • "As specified above we were all basically very satisfied with our holiday."

The following are more like observations than criticisms. There was no starter wood for the wood burning stove. (In the event would not have been used anyway.) The kitchen sink plug did not seal so that hot water was needed to run continuously to wash up in that sink. This was a waste of water and heat. Otherwise fine

  • "It's a lovely cottage with plenty of space and great facilities for the six of us."

Our only criticism would be the use of rather overpowering air freshener pots all over the place - we had to collect them up and put them in a plastic bag in the boot room for the duration of our stay - maybe worth rethinking that one. But otherwise no complaints despite the wind and rain - we had a great stay!
