  • "Despite the weather we had a lovely & relaxing break."

    The property is comfortable & cosy, with amazing views & the site was peaceful/quiet. The iron & ironing board need replacing, as the board just collapses on its own & the iron leaks. The main bedroom door doesnt shut & the blind in the 2nd bedroom doesnt open. Other than those small issues, it was great & would certainly return.

  • "The Hot Tub was cold on our first night, was a bit disappointing as we were looking forward to using it straight away, also the lighting around the Hot Tub area was not very good, the strength of the air jets in the tub was quite poor too, however these are minor gripes, the accommodation was really good,clean and comfortable."

    Great location for exploring the Cornwall area. Privacy of the accommodation was great, you hardly knew there were other guests staying on the complex.

  • "We arrived early evening on a Friday to find no hot water and the most complicated heating system ever seen."

    No instructions or guidance at all from Charteroak. I happened to have kept the number of them from the days before when they called to check on us coming. A plumber was called but we were told "maybe tonight if not tomorrow" but luckily he turned up. Now when someone enters and says "I'm always here, it's the same fault but they wont pay for the repair", alarm bells ring and frustration builds. I was shown how to reset a trip switch inside an electrical control panel (cover removed) running multiple areas of 240 volts for me to touch. We then faced the hot water tripping around 3 times a day. On top of this, the fridge was not cooling properly and the control were broken. The extractor fan above the hob was on full and the controls were broken. Some lights were out and on the deck, half the lights didn't work. For the money paid, we felt very disappointed and a complaint has been made to Sykes as the booking agent. The location of the site and this property were stunning but let down by the ever present faults and issues that really should have been resolved.

    We are very sad to read you were disappointed with your stay at our property. We take all feedback very seriously as we look to provide a wonderful stay to all of our guests. The plumber you speak about is a member of the maintenance team and I am looking into further why they stated we refuse to pay for a repair as this is simply untrue. He has informed us that he did not show any guest how to trip a switch, again this is being looked into further as it is unacceptable behaviour. With regards to the other matters I have spoken with the team who confirm the following: We only have record of the issue being reported once, not a 2nd time. The lights outside are in working order – there are two switches one for each side, we apologise for this not being clear during your stay. The weather was very hot during your stay which will have had some impact on the fridge temperature, though it is not broken. Upon review, we found no issue with the extractor fan. Property Owner

    The position of the Lodge is perfect with beautiful views and clever landscaping which ensures total privacy. It is so comfortable, with everything you need and the level of cleanliness is hard to beat. We just love it and will be back again and again.

  • "The lodge was perfect in every way, clean tidy comfortable, fantastic views across the countryside."

    The lodge is secluded and private which helped as my dad has dementia, and took the dog. Great location to travel to other parts of Cornwall, spar nearby and further is an asda and aldi. The little extra touches are great a pint of milk in the fridge after a long journey. A little welcome box of sachets of tea, coffee, washing liquid, dishwasher tablets and 2 dressing growns. The lodge is well equipped with everything you need.. just missing a clothes airer. Outside there is quite a breeze but nice when its warm. The hot tub was clean and the staff come round and check it. Would definitely book again and highly recommend

  • "Our hot tub was only on 22 degrees when we arrived so could not use it until the following day even though we had to pay for it."

    the management on site were useless & your customer services were not appologetic at all saying this is what happens sometimes when it is emptied & re-filled!! we still had to pay for it though!! its just not good enough

  • "I have stayed in many of the lodges at southern halt and they alway exceed my expectations!"

    This lodge was clean and comfortable and I liked the added comfort of carpets throughout rather than wooden floors! 1 small issue was the kettle switch was broken which made making a cuppa more challenging but not an issue worth complaining about urgently, I advised Sykes on the day we left of the problem and they were going to sort it immediately Would highly recommend

  • "10 Horizon View could do with being updated."

    As a dog friendly accommodation, hard flooring would be better throughout living spaces. Current carpet is very dirty. Master bedroom bed is uncomfortable and needs replacing. Good location and facilities, hot tub well maintained.

  • "Great holiday and a return to Horizon View for us."

    Clean property and didn’t smell of dogs which is always a bonus. Hot tub was great and comfy furniture. Couple of things that need attention- The oven wouldn’t turn off so had to turn it off at the mains. We did report it so I’m sure it will be fixed.The bedding quality wasn’t great. Thicker duvets, pillow & mattress protectors needed (especially in this current climate) and sheets that fit better. The shower curtain in the main bedroom needs replacing(preferably with a screen) as it has gone orange at the bottom due to mould from being left wet. We struggled to get enough hot water for us all to have a shower so not sure if there was anything else we could do as we tried the thermostat. If these things are sorted we would definitely be giving top scores. We look forward to visiting Southern Halt again.

  • "The property itself was lovely, clean and warm."

    Dressing gowns were a lovely touch. The views were amazing. Only downside was hot tub has seen better days, many of the functions didn't work and it looked pretty dated and worn as did the cover. The property is quite remote but lovely if you want peace and quiet. As the property did not have any boundary fences our dog kept wondering off and had to stay on the lead.

  • "We have now stayed at this lodge 4 times and always have a lovely relaxing holiday but there were a few small things that should be brought to your attention, the cover on the hot tub has seen better days and should be replaced soon, there was no handle to open in the lodge the bathroom skylights so we used a broom."

    The automatic gates at the main entrance were missing, which did mean we didn't feel quite as safe as previous visits, as anyone could enter the site.

    Very warm too. All the creature comforts and a lovely welcome package, toiletries, milk and a bottle of wine as a welcome. The view were amazing and we loved the hot tub. Very local to Looe, with its quaint town and nice beach. Fabulous holiday all round, would definitely stay here again.

The rural village of Dobwalls is surrounded by open fields and wooded countryside, and is close to the market town of Liskeard, the slopes of Bodmin Moor and the glorious north and south Cornish coastlines. This is a perfect base for exploring the many delights the region has to offer, with the picturesque fishing harbours of Looe, Fowey and Polperro within 15 miles to the south whilst Padstow and the surfing beach at Polzeath lie a comfortable drive away on the North Coast. Take a trip to Siblyback Lake and enjoy the wonderful sailing, fishing and watersports on offer, or travel a little further and take advantage of the superb walking on Bodmin Moor. The Eden project lies within 15 miles and Plymouth is just a 30 minute drive, or 25 minute train ride from nearby Liskeard station.
