  • "Absolutely beautiful lodge with own hot tub (which was really hot) right outside our bedroom."

Very private plot, not overlooked and was dog friendly so we could bring our boy. Also has own EV charger which we weren’t expecting (thought they’d be at reception) and this should be advertised more as it’s a real draw. Having said that ours wasn’t working but we were sorted out with a neighbouring one immediately. Very comfortable King size bed, very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher; and towels, shampoos and robes provided. The lodge was super clean and comfortable. You can walk to local pub/shop (15mins) and waterfall (45mins) but be aware pub kitchen closes at 6 in the winter! Eden project 30 mins by car, beach 15 mins. We had an amazing break drinking wine in our hot tub and looking at the stars; and visiting the beautiful Cornish countryside. Highly recommended!

I am really happy to hear that you loved your stay and did lots of exploring around the local area! Excellent and well maintained site with plenty of space between the lodges. The lodge was well equipped and spotlessly clean. A great stay at a great location.

  • "This is our third visit to Southern Halt & it certainly wont be our last."

Lodge was exactly as described & spotlessly clean. A few days before our arrival the lady from Reception called me to ask if there was anything more we needed... I mentioned my concern of no gate across the decking exit so our dog couldn't escape! When we arrived it had been sorted for us... excellent & thank you. Perfect base for tranquility & easy access to all the beautiful areas around it. Many thanks & we will see you again next year :-) x

Thank you so much for your amazing feedback June, I am absolutely delighted to hear how much you loved your lodge and your stay with us! I hope your dog enjoyed the break as much as you did! We really look forward to being able to welcome you back again next year. Sally, Guest Service, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Our 4th time at Southern Halt."

Super site, nice maintained and so peaceful. This lodge was perfect for us and nestled beautifully to offer you privacy when using your decking area and hot tub. Gorgeous lodge, very clean, plenty of storage and quality comfortable furnishings. The lodges are so well insulated that quilts provided are too high a tog and therefore made you hot when sleeping. Would benefit from a few small tumbler glasses and small bowls for cereal and serving food. Everything else was fantastic. We are planning our return.

I am really happy to hear how much you loved your time at Southern Halt, Sarah and that you had a wonderful stay at 11 Faraway Fields! Thank you for your suggestions for lighter tog duvets and extra crockery and glasses, I will pass this information on to our housekeeping team to look into. We can't wait to welcome you back to see us again very soon. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

There was no gate to stop the dog getting out ( we didn't want to tie him up for two weeks ) but Sally sorted that out with the maintenance man and all was well. We had a lovely holiday in the lodge, and would recommend it.

Thank you so much for leaving us your feedback Joyce, I am really happy to hear that you loved your visit to 11 Faraway Fields and that your dog was able to roam around the decking safely! It was so nice to speak with you, hopefully you will be back again very soon to stay with us. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

The location is ideal central to north and south coasts, and within easy reach of supermarkets etc and the view down the valley from the decking is lovely. We have already booked for next year as our niece and nephew loved our photos so decided to join us and have booked 7 Faraway Fields

  • "Hi, We had a nice stay in the southern halt holiday cabin which was spacious, comfortable, clean and set in beautiful surroundings."

Just a couple of improvements needed to achieve a 5 star feedback: 1. A lack of a handrail on the entrance steps make it difficult for my wife (who currently has mobility issues) to get up without assistance. 2. The lack of an option to charge an electric car. Normally this would not be such an issue if there was a reliable public charger nearby, but the closest ones were in Bodmin around 10miles away and they were either not working or occupied most of the time. Half way through the week I had no choice but to waste a morning on my own (without impaciente kids) just to charge the car in an industrial estate in Bodmin. Most places we visited in Cornwall had a lack of available destination chargers so we could have really done with a top up charge every night, even if it was just from a 3 pin external socket. Ideally there should be a couple of Type 2 chargers at the entrance available to guests to use at a reasonable cost. As the EV’s become more popular this really will be an essential service needed in all holiday destinations.

  • "Great comfortable, clean lodge."

Definitely recommend staying here. I feel that the lodge could benefit from some sun loungers as the decking is certainly large enough and also a parasol as we couldn't sit outside in the heat as there is no shade. The other thing I would say (which has nothing to do with the owner but the site itself), is that we understand that maintenance has to be done on site but we had the gravelling being redone which was very noisy and dusty and then another day was the hedging all being cut so at least two really noisy days on site which wasn't very relaxing. Unfortunately the freak warm weather we couldn't go out during the day until late because of our dog so the noise did impact on our holiday.
