  • "I have stayed at this accommodation three times before and we have never had any problems before but at our recent stay last week I contacted Charter Oak Reception and left them a voicemail message to contact me (reception is not open on a Sunday) as we had some ‘loud banging’ from the lodge which kept us awake on Saturday night."

I awaited a phone call first thing on the Monday re: the problem but received a courtesy phone call and email in the afternoon instead to ask how our stay was going. I replied to their email explaining what had happened but I got no response. We ended up resolving it our selves and they did not check up on us. Quite disappointing.

I am so very sorry that you feel disappointed after your stay with us at 11 Meadow Retreat, Andrea and that you had issues with a noisy unfastened gate. I hope despite this issue you were still able to enjoy your holiday and that the lodge was everything you hoped it would be. I know that the Guest Services Administrator at Southern Halt did try to contact you, but was unfortunately unable to and that you did manage to rectify the issue yourselves, which we are grateful for. I sincerely hope that you will come back to stay with us for a fifth time in the future, as we really do value our returning guests. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

We would be more than happy to come again.

It was really lovely to read your thoughts after your stay at 11 Meadow Retreat. I am delighted that you had a fantastic time and would love to say a big thank you for your recommendations! Hurry back! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Very nice Shelf in shower would be helpful More toilet roll More dishwasher tablets Instructions for hot tub Temperature of water was too high for us Didn't find washing machine till last day lol !"

All in all though was a lovely chalet would recommend !!

We really appreciate you leaving us your thoughts John, it is always so helpful to get feedback. Unfortunately, as the lodges are self-catering, we only supply an emergency amount of toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets, to keep you going for the first night, so apologies if you were not aware of this. We have now received instruction signs for all our hot tubs, which we are in the process of fitting, so thank you for your comment. I am really happy that despite these issues you still enjoyed your stay with us and hopefully you will be back to stay again soon. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous week, loved the lodge, had everything we needed."

Great shower, bed and lovely big TV We particularly loved the outdoor hot tub (probably one of the reasons why I chose the lodge) after a day walking or cycling it was a real treat to take a dip in the hot tub. Also we were extremely impressed that the hot tub was checked everyday. The Southern Halt site seems extremely well organised and would definitely return, in fact we will probably book number 11 Meadow Retreat again, we loved the large outdoor space/ decking and although you can see the other lodges you feel very private because of all the bushes and trees. Five star accommodation

Thank you for your amazing feedback Hayley, we are so grateful to you for leaving your thoughts for us! I am absolutely delighted to hear how much you loved your stay at 11 Meadow Retreat and that you hope to return to visit us again in the future. Hurry back! • "This was our first time at these lodges but we'll definitely be back."

The lodge was very well equipped with good quality utensils and we even had a nice welcome pack with tea/coffee and milk. The location is great for visiting different beaches as it's quite close to the A38 but you wouldn't know as it was really quiet and peaceful. The only negative if I'm forced was they could do with some sort of fan as it got really hot inside despite opening the windows and skylights. We'll definitely visit again.

I am so happy to hear how you enjoyed your first visit to Southern Halt and that you loved 11 Meadow Retreat! Thank you for your suggestion of a fan for the lodge in the very hot weather; we do have fans available on request from the reception, so I am so sorry you were not aware of this. We can't wait to welcome you back for a second visit in the future! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

Hot tub was amazing . The site was very peaceful which is what we needed . The little box of goodies was unexpected and the pint of milk in the fridge was very thoughtful. Nice little touch in the bathroom was 2 robes.

  • "What a wonderful cabin."

When I arrived it was absolutely pristine. I did spend some days in the cabin and watched a film on the fantastic TV. The hot tub was lovely and so relaxing, I spent a couple of evenings in there and saw a few shooting stars. The facilities in the cabin were excellent. I look forward to returning. If you're thinking about booking this cabin just book, you won't be disappointed. Thankyou for a wonderful holiday.

  • "No washing machine in the facility, which I do not feel is good for £300 per night stay!"

Check out at 10am, understandably during Covid 19, but that has now passed. Having to strip beds also is not really what I want to do on holiday, Covid 19 is here to live with... not really acceptable. It was OK stay, not worth £300 per night! Hot tub no matter what, was far too hot to sit in, made you feel dizzy!

  • "Absolute perfection!"

Number 11 Meadow Retreat far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we loved every minute of our stay. Would not hesitate to recommend this lodge to anyone, just wished we lived just a wee bit closer! Would love to return for another wonderfully situated holiday. Thanks to all concerned.

  • "We had a really wonderful stay in this lovely lodge where you couldn’t fail to relax."

It was so comfortable and immaculate. The hot tub and spa bath was an added bonus. There were numerous places to visit within easy travelling distance. The only small drawback was there wasn’t really anywhere that you could walk to for an evening meal, we tried the village pub but although very friendly staff , it didn’t meet our expectations for food and was rather tired looking.
