  • "We had a lovely time."

    Can't wait to come back

  • "Unfortunately this Lodge is looking tired in places."

A secondary freestanding fridge as the built in one doesn’t get cold. When u open the dishwasher the plinth underneath it all comes out and needs pushing back. The sofas are not very clean at all,Very stained along the front of cushions and sides and where covered in white dog hair, Our clothes where covered when we stood up so we used blankets from our car to cover them. I just feel that a bit of love and attention to fix these issues could make this lodge as lovely as others we have stayed in. Can’t fault the cleaning the group of housekeepers done good. May be a mirror in the twin room so you don’t have to share with your guests in the double room. The garden was lovely and the garden side of the lodge gets the morning sun which is nice for having your cuppa outside.

Thank you for your feedback, we want to ensure our guests have a great holiday, so we appreciate you taking time to leave a comment. The fridge freezer was broken just before your stay (with the temporary fridge you mention put in place), and a new unit has now been fitted, also the skirting board under the dishwasher has been fixed. The lodge is cleaned to a high standard before the arrival of our guests and we apologise the sofas were not at that standard for your stay, this has been reported to the cleaning team on-site and we’ve received assurances this will improve. • "The lodge was beautiful and hot tub was fab the only drawback was the information on the menu for the old mill they have changed the menu and the choices were poor if you don’t like burgers so we were disappointed especially as we struggled to find it."

Would definitely come back to the lodge again a very relaxing holiday

  • "The sofas are very worn, dirty and too low."

We covered them so we felt more comfortable sitting on them. They are definitely overdue for replacing. The washing machine broke down when we used it after the first week as we wanted to wash our clothes for the second week. Unfortunately despite 2 calls advising them of the error code on the machine we never received any phone call to update us on when it would be fixed, other than we were told an engineer would come out to fix it. This never happened which was frustrating because we were waiting every day for it to be repaired.

  • "Misadvertised on the website so we were a little disappointed there were no outside dining facilities."

It took 3 days for it to be sorted which included me calling 3/4 times for an update and waiting on hold for over 30 minutes each time. Sykes just passed me onto a different agent who just kept telling me the owner needed to tell them what to do. I'd book here again because the lodge itself was lovely but I was disappointed in Sykes.

  • "We had a wonderful stay from start to finish, the lodge was extremely clean on arrival and the hot tub all ready to be use."

We like to cook and were impressed with the range of kitchen utensils that were available for a holiday home, nothing had been forgotten. The location is excellent, very private spot with the sun over the garden all day and only a short drive to lots of local attractions and great walks. The bed was very comfortable although there was a slight gap in the bedroom blind of the main bedroom which allowed the light from the moon to shine directly onto my pillow. Apart from that I couldn’t fault a thing, we enjoyed it there so much we didn’t want to leave. We’d definitely return.

  • "The fault with the drains reported by the previous tenants had still not been rectified correctly so there was a bad drain smell which permeated the lodge and made the stay unpleasant."

We also had an issue with the fuse box which caused a power outage. I rang the management company three times to report this and on each occasion was unable to get through and had to leave a message for them to call me back which they never did. I rang Sykes to see if they could help and I did get to speak to your agent who was very helpful, but he too was unable to get through to the management company and had to resort to sending them an email. Eventually the issue was resolved, but we lost a morning of our holiday trying to get this resolved and not being able to make any food or drinks due to no power. So I was not impressed with this holiday and would struggle to recommend this. Please do contact me if you want to discuss further.

  • "Fabulous holiday and place but there were a few things to point out but not sure on who to send to so will put it in here."

Hot tub - noticed the first night the jets kept switching off after 30 seconds, thought it was so mentioned to hot tub man he checked and said pump needed replacing but only time they could do this was on Thursday, this was still not replaced and we came home on the Friday so only spent 2 days in it but gave up after 5 minutes! Drains/plumbing- noticed on the first day every time we had a shower there was a gurgling noice coming from toilet and sink, this continued for a couple of days till the shower/sink would not empty and the toilet would not flush properly so rang the number given and drain man came after an hour he said the drains under lodge had not been fitted properly and water not draining, said we would probs have to move to a different lodge but was getting someone else out as seemed to be a blockage. So in meantime could not go out as planned as unsure if we needed to pack up and move. Man turned up and discovered the blockage and flushed the drains but rest of the holiday we keep getting the smell of drainage. Lodge was great as expected as stayed at No. 10 last year but disappointed on a day out and no hot tub!

We were extreamely pleased with the accommodation - the cleanliness was perfect. The added touches of a dressing gown, board games and toiletries were a lovely surprise. The location and privacy was beautiful - allowing you to use the jacuzzi and feel comfortable. We really wish there were different locations all over as we’d probably book every time for a mini break away. Thanks Sykes for a great stay!
