  • "We absolutely loved the peace and tranquility of the lodge."

It was like being in a tree house with just the sound of the stream and the birds singing. It was lovely and clean and spacious inside with everything we needed. The staff at the bar/restaurant were lovely and so accomodating. Only criticsm is that the menu was limited and did not change at all whilst we were there. Otherwise BEAUTIFUL holiday spot.

Thank you for your lovely feedback Beverley, I am really happy to hear how much you enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay at 3 Stonerush Valley and that you sampled the menu in the restaurant. I have passed on both your constructive thoughts and wonderful comments to our Restaurant Manager. I hope you will return to visit us again in the future. we thought it was amazing and we would 100% recommend, we are thinking of coming back. only thing we would say is maybe some outdoor lights and it would make the whole hot tub at night experience more fun and cosy

I am absolutely delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your break at 3 Stonerush Valley Harriet and really happy to hear you are thinking of coming back to see us again very soon. I have passed on your suggestion of some outdoor lights on the decking, as it would be lovely if that is something which we can provide. I look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. • "Lodge was beautiful, spacious and home from home."

Great location near the stream. Hot tub was made use of every day. Bath robes were a nice compliment. One thing I would suggest is curtains in the bedroom. Light came through the sides of the blinds and through the skylight in the room meaning, as soon as it gets light so does the bedroom. Light came in too all night from the security light on the bedroom wall outside. A much needed light for outside but this meant that sleep was disturbed. Look for the Stonerush Lakes sign on the main road to drive down to the lodge and not following googlemaps/satnav, as you will end up down a single lane dirt track.

Thank you for leaving us such lovely feedback Trudy, we really do appreciate you taking the time to give us your thoughts. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at 3 Stonerush Vally, despite the issues you encountered and that you made full use of the hot tub! I have passed on your suggestions about curtains for the bedrooms as, understandably, being woken early in the morning whilst you are on holiday is something you would prefer not to experience. I hope you will be back to visit us again very soon. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Very nice lodge in a secluded setting."

It was lovely sitting on balcony and listening to the birds in the evening and the hot tub was welcomed after busy days sightseeing. The park is well placed for visiting places of interest nearby. The lodge furnishings are looking tired and the pictures on the advert do not reflect how it looks now. E.g., sofa has weared and wasnt the best for comfort but advert shows a sofa that looks brand new. Struggled a little bit with cooking utensils. There is only 1 frying pan and 1 oven tray and so when 1 of you are vegetarian, I had to think out of the box at times, to cook both evening meals. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for leaving your feedback we are glad you did enjoy your stay overall. We have put more utensils in place. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely lovely lodge."

Set in breathtaking country woods. Spotlessly clean and a tranquil haven. Easy access to Looe and lovely coastal walks. I would certainly visit again and recommend this stay. The only 2 things which could be improved upon are more towels please as one bath towel each when there’s a hot tub isn’t enough and don’t rely on the on site pub/restaurant. It’s not open every day and closes at 4pm some days too. I suspect we will be re booking. Really lovely lodge.

The only thing is that there is no phone service so you can’t order takeout but other than that it was perfect.

  • "We were a little wary based on some of the press Sykes Cottages had had post-lockdown but on the basis we were booking at such short notice and with no imminent restrictions we were happy to proceed."

We booked with a couple of days to spare and read the previous reviews left on the lodge. On arrival, the doors had been sealed to show it had been sanitised before we arrived the interior looked and smelt very clean. We did take our own cleaning things to be doubly sure! It was pleasing to notice the feedback from earlier reviews has been listened to with the addition of a welcome pack too. The property is situated in the valley and isn't overlooked by the other lodges meaning you have fantastic surroundings and privacy too and the hottub is perfect - worth noting that on checkout day it was drained and deep cleaned before the next guests come along too for peace of mind. All in all, we can't recommend it enough and we will be back!

  • "Absolutely loved it, it lived up to the pictures that we were shown online (which a lot of places don't) peaceful and relaxing , the setting was superb with the stream below, had daily visits from one of the resident squirrels as well as different varietys of small birds, Not really designed for non car drivers (we travelled down by train) but that was our choice."

An information pack would have been nice with local things to do and places to go for those of us that are that are new to the area, No phone signal there which wasn't a problem until we needed a taxi or needed to book a table at the Old Mill (Staff were excellent and really freindly) , An onsite little shop would have been nice (just selling essentials )All in all absolutely fantasic retreat for a peaceful and relaxing holiday,. I have already recommended to friends and family and will definately return and we are already looking for dates for next year excellent !!

  • "The area, lodge itself and hot tub were all excellent."

However, there was a distinct lack of facilities at the property. There was no chopping board, and by the looks of the worktops, this has been an issue for some time as people seem to have cut in to the sides preparing food. Although there was a dishwasher, there were no tablets/products to use with the dishwasher. There were also no supplies to wash any dishes etc. by hand - meaning that we would have to purchase our own (this was cheaper than having to buy dishwasher tablets). There was also an under-cupboard spotlight hanging down over the kitchen counter, exposing a live electrical wire, and there were very few outside lights - this had been mentioned in the guest book by visitors since 2013, so it is disappointing to see that feedback is apparently not acted upon at this property. If these inconveniences had been addressed prior to our stay, I don't think we would have had any complaints about the property.

  • "Had a fab time celebrating hubbies 30th birthday, the hot tub was lovely and a bonus that it was beautiful and warm waiting for us when we arrived."

We also ate in the Old Mill for Sunday lunch, highly recommended as the food was beautiful. The only downside to this was the bed, the mattress wasn’t very comfortable and left us with sore backs (thankfully the hot tub did solve this but wasn’t ideal!). Will definitely be staying again, hopefully in better weather :-)

  • "We had a lovely time really enjoyed it the hot tub was excellent and well maintained and and the Cottage itself met all expectations the only thing that we found was very large cobwebs near the fridge on the table underneath the television on the right hand side and on the lampshade and there was some damp in the right-hand corner of the bedroom near the bed."

Just one thing that we noticed that could be improved was to have a Bluetooth television installed and to have dressing gowns available because there was none in our Cottage. Even so we would love to come back and enjoy the hot tub more in the summer that would be fantastic. ( hope this gets us a nice discount in the summer next year ).

The lodge was very clean and tidy and fully equipped with everything you could need to be home from home. Bath robes and towels provided and the thoughtfulness of having tea, coffee etc and a pint of milk already there for us upon arrival was a lovely and very welcome touch after the long drive. The lodge was absolutely perfect. The en suite is an added bonus too. Staff in reception/bar very friendly and welcoming. Hot tub was amazing and cleaned/inspected every day. Highly recommended and already planning our next visit.

We were greeted by warm and friendly staff who gave excellent service. The food in the restaurant was fantastic..best stroganoff and fishcakes ever. About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
