  • "We stayed here for a week and was amazing."

The luxery lodge had everything we needed for the week. The TV in the living room and bedroom was big and had all the apps so we could watch any programme or film. The hot tub was the best way to spend our evenings. The lodge was really spacious and modern and was nice and hidden. Only problem we could say was the washing machine was not working and when we tried to figure out what the problem was under the kick boards there was what looked like rat droppings and rat poisoning but it was hidden so wasn’t a big issue for us just something for the cleaners to consider cleaning in the future. We really did not want to leave and we can’t wait to return again. By far best lodge I have stayed in.

  • "What an absolute gem of a beautiful weekend retreat."

The lodge was immaculately clean and well presented. It had everything you would need for a relaxing stay to recharge your batteries. The additional luxury of the hot tub was pure bliss every evening. Being in such a central position, it was so easy also to get anywhere. We will definitely be back .

  • "The property was beautiful!"

Full of mod cons and the wine fridge was well used. There was a little box of basic things like tea, coffee, bin bag, washing up liquid. It was the perfect amount for our 2 night stay. The grounds are stunning and we got some great pictures of the sun rise. The hot tub was well used and was the perfect end to our long day of exploring. We couldn't hear the neighbours so the lodges are well spaced out. There were a few minor details The shower on tap was loose. Attention to cleaning the shower hose as there was a build up of grime. There were cobwebs and dust around the property especially in the bathroom area and skylights-however my partner got these. There was a burn mark in the carpet by the French doors in the bedroom. Overall it was worth the money and i will definitely be coming back again.

  • "Really enjoyed our week here, was amazed at how well the space has been used definitely felt luxury as soon as we walked in!"

The sofa is wonderfully comfortable and it was really clever to have the doors to the hottub right by the bedroom! (Robes included were also absolutely essential and loved). The taps in the kitchen need switching (hot is actually cold and cold is hot, found out when trying to put cold water on a burn), the shower tap seems to be a little loose and the door doesn't shut properly unless you fully pull at it. These werent anything to ruin our holiday just something to maybe look at! The bed was also extremely hard for our personal liking but otherwise very happy.

  • "Beautiful accommodation, equipped with everything we needed for our week away."

The only downfall was that there was no where to hang coats, towels etc. The hot tub was a real treat and it was checked daily. A perfect location to sit and listen to the birds during the day and then wonder at the stars in the evening. There is a spa shop about a 10 minute walk away and if you download the too good to go app you can picl up some real treats at the end of the day. We enjoyed walking around the local area , we found a public footpath on our way to the spa shop. We throughly enjoyed exploring the fields where we were greeted with the most amazing views of the cornish countryside. A three minute drive away is Golitha Falls which is well worth a visit, Inkies smokehouse makes the most amazing food after exploring the falls. We would definitely recommend this beautiful accommodation and we look forward to returning.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely looking lodge with nice hot tub and bath."

Cosy set up with nice modern touches. But when we arrived smelt like a curry house, hadn’t been aired. Cleaners need to look up, cobwebs everywhere. Mattress is well last best. Really lumpy, had to try to sleep on sofa. With a few bits sorted it would be lovely. Stayed in a few lodges now and would say Stone Rush Lakes is more private and quiet at this time of year. This site will get better once more established I’m sure.

Thank you for your feedback, we have taken your comments on board and do hope that you will visit with us again, there were some positives to your stay. Property Owner

Me and my partner came for a lovely 4 nights away and we loved every moment of it. I would highly recommend if you want a stay cation but if you want to explore then I’d recommend that one of you don’t mind driving a few hours. But we went to Plymouth and the Eden project which was only 30-40 minutes away and was a lovely day out. We went other places too but was over hour drive for them. But the cottage is lush.

  • "Fabulous lodge with a great hot tub."

Really well decorated and kitted out. My only moan would be the bedroom- not a very comfortable bed on the right side as when you lie on it it feels like you’re on a hill.. you either roll into the other person or feel like you’re looking up facing out. Pillows awful also and gave me a bad neck but pillows are very personal. Also the fact there is only blinds in the bedroom meant we were awake from about 7am every day.. when we’d come away to relax and hopefully get a little lie in as we’re not at work but that was impossible. The rest of the place was lovely and I would definitely use Sykes cottages again. We wouldn’t return to 6 southern place as we went and did most things the area has to offer, which wasn’t a lot. But if it was only based on the lodge and not the location it was nearly perfect. Thank you!

The site itself was so well laid out and this accommodation in particular was so private. The hot tub was a lovely extra that we made full use of. I know a couple of reviews mentioned no hanging space but we found it adequate to hang all that we had brought. The kitchen was fully equipped with fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, oven hob and microwave. The bathroom was well equipped with shower cubicle and fantastic spa bath. Overall it was an amazing stay and would definitely go back. We travelled all over Cornwall whilst there and found Dobwells to be an easy area for all tourist places. Highly recommended and was sad to leave.

  • "The holiday lodge was very clean on arrival and it was nice to find a pint of milk in the fridge and a box of tea bags etc."

The hot tub was well used during our stay and the lodge felt private by not being too close to other holiday homes. The only things to improve upon would be hooks for coats in the entrance hall and hooks for robes outside by the hot tub as we didn’t have enough hanging space to dry towels and wet swimwear on. We walked to Golitha Falls from where we stayed and enjoyed day trips out to Looe, Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay, Charlestown, Carlyon Bay and Polkerris beach where we hired paddleboards. It was a lovely well needed week away :)

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at southern halt."

The lodge was very private and had plenty of outdoor space. The owners had thought of everything - the little box with washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea/coffee etc was very handy, and finding a pint of milk in the fridge was so thoughtful. The hot tub added a little bit of luxury to a well needed break away. Our only fault is that there is no black out blinds so if you’re a light sleeper bring an eye mask as ithe bedroom can be quite bright on sunny mornings. The lodge is far enough away from the hustle and bustle but within a short drive of plenty of places to explore. We loved walking round golitha falls and siblyback lake, exploring carlyon bay (which had some beach shacks for food/drinks) and par sands. The old sail loft (looe) and the hayloft (liskeard) served some fresh seafood which was to die for! Overall a perfect holiday - Thankyou so much for making it special!

The lodge was lovely but had very few places to hang things up a few hooks in the cupboard at the entrance would have been ideal and somewhere to hang wet towels outside. There was only 1 towel per person despite having a hot tub and there was no guidance on how to use the hot tub? After saying that we still enjoyed our stay however will not be booking again value for money it was not.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at 6 Southern Place, and we definitely would love to go back in the future!"

The Hot Tub was amazing and very well used. The TV facilities were brilliant, with a TV on the ceiling in the bedroom!! (so cool) and one in the living room too, both with Netflix etc on them. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The outdoor space around the lodge is lovely and the place felt so private. We do have to agree with other reviews, that coat hooks are really needed at the entrance of the lodge and I’m really surprised they haven’t been added yet after all the feedback! We also agree there could be more storage in the bedroom, as even for a week we found it difficult to put all our stuff away. We didn’t really understand the need for the baby stuff either, the high chair etc was quite cluttering and took up a lot of space, maybe this should just be available on request? But all in all, those are tiny little tweaks we felt could be made and we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely recommend and return!

  • "Lodge was missing basic necessities, understandable due to covid but would have been nice to know exactly what was removed so we knew what to bring."

Place wasn't that clean on arrival, chopping boards were still a bit dirty and crumbs all over toaster. Coffee, sugar, salt and pepper sachets were kept in the same box as the dishwasher and washing machine tablets... big no no, did not use those. The bedroom was nice, but its storage space isn't great, there is a rail to hang things but only 5 hangers. No shelves only baskets which is odd, lived out our suitcases for 2 weeks which isn't ideal. Hot tub was great, no complaints on that, was really nice to have. Tvs in the house were brilliant, great for film lovers like us. Kitchen space is good though not a lot of room to put food away. Pedal bin is tiny and ours was broken so had to use a black sack on the floor as a bin. Was a good two weeks but felt a little let down by the lodge, nice place to stay, but luxury? No necessarily.

I would really recommend the cottage, the view was amazing and it was nice and cosy. The ideal thing was we had one with a hot tub which was in the perfect location right outside the room. It was nice and clean when we got there. The location was perfect as there is a supermarket not too far and lots of places to go by car close by and to just visit by car. We found it so nice and peaceful and are definitely going to be planning our next visit again soon.

The little touches with fridge in the milk and a list of recommenced nearby places, the privacy and the great facilities I.e the hot tub, were all just amazing. We had a problem getting in our lodge with the key code, we phoned the contact number and someone arrived in less than 15 minutes to help us which we really appreciated. Everything about this place is great. • "The lodge itself was perfect - clean, comfortable and modern."

However, we were very disappointed to find that Southern Place 6 overlooked the building of the remaining lodges. Firstly, we were disappointed with the view (being in Cornwall you don’t expect to wake up and be greeted by metal railings and machinery). Secondly, it meant that we were awoken early when the builders arrived and gathered near our lodge ready for the day’s work. We were meant to be having a relaxing holiday and this meant we were unable to have a lie in. Finally, we felt overlooked and that our privacy was invaded making us not want to open up onto the terrace (which for some reason we had no furniture for) and unable to use the hot tub in the morning due to the builders within such a close proximity. What was disappointing was that nowhere when booking did it mention that this was to be expected. Had we known, we would have booked an alternative lodge with far better views. Generally, a disappointing stay especially when we came down to enjoy and relax in the Cornish countryside and to escape the hustle and bustle of where we live.

But we ended up cutting our holiday short due to building work being done, we was the very end lodge so we looked onto a building site. While we was trying to relax in the hot tub we had workers going past so this really put a downer on our holiday as we felt like it was no longer private for us. I really feel like we should of been aware of this because I would not of booked it up knowing, and cutting our holiday short wasn’t nice but I just felt uncomfortable.so I now feel like we have wasted our money. I also would expect it to be clean when we got there , once opening the French doors looking onto the building site the door frame was full of dead flys ... this wasn’t 1 or 2 flys this had built up over some time.
