  • "My wife and I had an amazing stay at 8 Stonerush Valley for our Honeymoon."

We couldn’t of wishes for a more private, secluded location to share the week together following our wedding. The on-site restaurant and bar were great, with very friendly and helpful staff! We are already planning our return for our anniversary next year. Thankyou!

That is great we are glad you were able to share time together after your wedding congratulations, we look forward to welcoming you back on your anniversary. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "Lovely and relaxing almost perfect."

Only down side was the hot tub was far too hot and couldn’t turn it down slightly.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are glad you really enjoyed your stay and appreciate your positive comments. The Hot Tubs are normally at a set temperature but can be adjusted by the engineer if requested, they visit on a daily basis. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Lodge was clean but there were a few very large cobwebs around the lodge which should have been removed before our arrival."

A few touches would have been appreciated that were not there, for example kitchen roll, oven gloves. It rained for a lot of our stay so a covering over the hot tub could be a good idea as we unfortunately didn’t get to use it as much as we would have liked. The menu Sykes Cottages sent us for the onsite restaurant was completely wrong which was very disappointing as we booked the restaurant based on the menu that was sent to us!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, your comments have been noted and appreciate all suggestions going forward. Property Owner

Only issue we had was with the boiler, it kept cutting out but the engineer showed us how to reset it until the new part arrived. Would definitely return to this lodge next year. Thanks Andrew

  • "Beautiful holiday cottage in an amazing location."

So quiet and the facilities were clean and as described. The hot tub was a fabulous treat. The only thing I would say is that I was disappointed that antibacterial hand wash wasn’t included in the bathrooms- we didn’t take any as we assumed that with it bring a global pandemic, hand wash would have been provided. Also, we had a few issues with the water coming out of the tap cloudy! Apart from that, the stay was glorious!

  • "Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!"

The bed was so comfy and the hot tub was super private. We enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds on the balcony and the log burner was a fab touch for the colder months. We would return in a heartbeat!

  • "Unfortunately as 8 Stonerush Valley is at the bottom of a steep slope with the rain from the roof allowed to go straight into the ground, there was a very bad smell of damp, particularly in the front en suite bathroom."

  • "Lovely accommodation in a fantastic setting."

Very spacious & airy rooms, however there was a strong smell of damp in the ensuite which did not go away even with the window open. The two leather sofas in the lounge looked worn & were not comfortable. Overall though we were very pleased with our accommodation.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at number 8 Stonerush, the lodge is well equipped with everything you need."

I especially found the King Size bed very comfortable. The location is so tranquil and peaceful with lots of wildlife which we enjoyed watching from the balcony/terrace. Hot tub was perfect. We weren't too far from many of the surrounding attractions, Looe is such a beautiful place to visit, also we highly recommend the Duchy of Cornwall nursery for traditional Cornish Cream Tea with scones! Our only observation was the wooden furniture on the balcony looked a bit tired and old and maybe in need of replacing? But otherwise we loved our stay and hope to return to number 8 again for another restful stay!

  • "Really well equipped lodge and very private and quiet."

There was a sealed welcome pack and supplies, which was unexpected. Hot tub was excellent. We also had great WiFi, which was a huge improvement on the last time we stayed, particularly in planning trips out and booking visits on-line. One downside - the TV is really old and has no HDMI or connectivity, so although we had WiFi, we couldn't stream (few people watch DVD anymore, especially since Covid)

  • "Lovely lodge, perfect size for two but still nice and spacious."

Have stayed in a different lodge previously but this one was in such a great location, it felt very private and like you were in your own little world. When you come out onto the balcony it’s right next to a river which is so relaxing to sit and listen to with a couple of drinks, and there are cows wandering past and lots of wildlife about. The hot tub was fantastic as always, robes provided despite covid which was a pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend! The perfect romantic getaway. Also, you can actually access the park WiFi here which we thought wouldn’t be available, so good to note.

  • "Arrived at the property to find no heating and no hot water, we were meant to be staying for 7days but left after 5."

Although the heating/water got rectified there was no attempt from the owners side. Left over beer bottles on an unswept decking to the hot tub is not how you want to be greeted. The dishwasher then also had to be repaired, got told we couldn't have any more than 1 towel for our 7 day stay and to add salt in the wounds the tv in the bedroom was half hanging off the wall. I've used sykes a fair bit over the years and this was the worst I've experienced, shame really as it would of been a nice lodge with abit of tlc prior to guests arriving.

  • "My fiance and I stayed at 8 stonerush lodge for a week in January."

Check in was quick/easy and our lodge was just beautiful. It's spacious, well equipped and very warm. Our log burner wasnt really needed. The hot tub was checked every morning by the maintenance team and was never cold or dirty. We ate at the old mill on a cpl of occasions and both meals were lovely. The lodges themselves are very private so if you just want some quiet time this is def the place for you. The ensuite shower room had a damp musty smell which was noted by previous guests. This issue does need rectifying but it didnt ruin our holiday in any way. Take basic essentials such as salt/pepper/sauces/cooking oils/butter etc with you as only milk/dishwasher tabs/coffee & sugar sachets are left for you. You are provided with towels/robes/hair dryer but not log burner starter pack. Wifi is available and signal was good. We'll def be rebooking and next time want to try out the new gorgeous "tree tops" lodges.

The place was spotless and the view was amazing! We had rain most of the weekend except for a slight milder day on saturday so we got to enjoy the hot tub! It was a well needed break. Some of the places shops food ect are a bit of a drive away but they are definitely worth it me being a fussy eater found everything amazing! Even booked up for next year on our drive home! 100% recommended we even had wifi in the log cabin which we didn't think we could get as it was our 9 year anniversary and our first time away from the kids we was able to facetime them every day so no worries!

  • "It exceeded expectations because, unexpectedly, there was WiFi in the cottage."

This was a very high quality and well equipped cottage. The mattress was excellent. It was nice to have robes supplied. Also the milk, tea, ice cubes, and kitchen requisites supplied were a nice touch. We struggled and failed to get the main oven to work, so maybe some instructions would be useful. The blinds in the bedroom were not wide enough to afford adequate privacy. Thanks, had a good holiday.

The toilet in the ensuite was broken although maintenance man came out and fixed it. However we were unable to use it due to the smell which I assume was dampness although there was no obvious sign of this. I believe these problems were going to be reported to the owner. I do not believe these problems to be recent and find it unlikely that previous guests would not have been aware of them

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
