  • "The barn was 5 miles off of the main road down very narrow lanes."

It would have been helpful to know that as it made comings and goings very time consuming. The barn is very roomy, which meant it was difficult to keep warm. We think the pictures were very old, because the furniture is very worn and uncomfortable ,although the place was quite clean. There were snail trails on the carpet. Our main worry was that the electrics were in need of looking at. Loose sockets and flickering lights when we put the heaters on and the light on the stairs and in The bathroom didn't work. The taps were loose. We did not mention this to the owner as when we read the visitors book he had commented quite aggressively on the previous occupants concerns which we found intimidating and put us off approaching him. I am sorry if this is a negative review. We left a day early because we would rather have been at home.

A letter is in the post to Head Office. We left a day early because we'd had enough.

The owners are lovely and very welcoming, was fantastic being so close to the cows the kids loved this. Plenty of places to explore near by. We would definitely be back in the future.

  • "Great accomodation, generously proportioned with eveything you could need."

The property was very clean and tastefully presented with fantastic country views. The only drawback for us would be the very narrow country lanes getting from the main highways to the property, it takes some getting used to.

  • "Main reason we have chosen thus place was a per corner and various animals in a working farm, ability to collect eggs and so on."

A week before arrival I was told by owner ( during phone call to confirm our arrival time) that there is no more pet corner. Moreover, we discovered that there are only cows and 2 dogs on the farm. The whole place was nice and clean, owner is extremely nice. However, this lack of advertised animals was huge for us.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Lower Well Barn."

We have a 1 year old and 3 year old, who thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals and machinery on the farm, especially the beautiful and very friendly dogs! The owners are most welcoming and we wanted for nothing during our stay. They thought of everything - including a baby/toddler bath tub stashed in the bathroom!! We shared our week with a few spiders but at that time of year in the countryside, you would expect to. A really great week and would definitely recommend :)

  • "This is a really lovely holiday cottage and very peaceful."

It was lovely to sit outside in the morning and just hear the birds and no traffic! The property was very clean and spacious and the owners and housekeeper were friendly and really helpful. The children loved visiting the animals and running around the large garden. If we went away to this area again we would certainly look at staying at this property.

  • "Great location, lovely cottage, & very welcoming hosts."

Very central for our days out,- we managed to cover most of Cornwall & Dartmoor. The cottage was very cosy, with wood supplied for evenings by the fire. Our grandaughter loved spending time with all the animals & Kia the parrot.

  • "The hosting couple from the working farm were very helpful and friendly, usually located working around the farm grounds."

The views were fantastic and on our last night we could hear an owl in the lower valley banked with trees. The building layout was very well designed and beautiful from the outside. Once inside the fire place was very homely and the electric heaters made it very comfortable during our November break. The location was in a very quite area. but care had to be taken driving through the nearby private roads/tracks, but this added to the tranquail setting as you rarely met other road users. We enjoyed Plymouth, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Looe, Polperro and Penzance during our stay returning for meals prepared in the more than adequate kitchen. Very well presented and met our expectations, we easily over-looked a couple of minor issues as they were so minor and the rest of the break was so perfect for our need of relaxation.... The property guest book reflected similar experiences from others who had shared a similar experience......Well Done....!

  • "The cottage was excellent if a little sparsely equipped."

My biggest concern was the lack of basic information, Not even instructions on using the oven or tv etc.. A map of the area would have been helpful, to show the location of the nearest shop/super market, foot paths etc..

  • "A beautiful cottage located on a working farm, with horses and other wildlife."

Rabbits and Guinea pigs which you can pet. Even being located on a farm it is very peaceful and quiet. The surrounding setting has amazing views and the owners are very friendly and generous. The Cottage itself is very clean and has that rustic feel about it, especially with the log fire. It has everything you need other than WiFi. The garden is lovely and big and is not being looked over. Would recommend to anyone.

A true home from home. It was so warm and cosy with the lovely wood burner, and the views were outstanding. We purposely got up early on our first morning to watch the sun rise, we were certainly not disappointed. It was so close to all the local attractions but was far enough away for your own piece of heaven.
