  • "Rock Pool is a really lovely apartment with sea views."

It is warm, welcoming and comfortable. Had a great layout and comfy beds, the double bedroom has a king size bed. The kitchen was brilliantly stocked. Also nice to have toilet paper and kitchen roll, etc. Really appreciated the cream tea, milk, tea bags and coffee pods. We were able to go on Netflix with our own sign in and BBC iPlayer. The shop in Downderry had closed and the coffee shop was shut for the winter. There was a Tapas bar and a pub which served food by the beach.

  • "We had fantastic week and loved the location and the apartment."

We would definitely stay again in the future. Only negatives (and they are minor) are the step down to the patio is huge and could do with a step being built to reduce risk of someone falling. Shower in ensuite bathroom is not great in terms of controlling temperature which is frustrating and its hard with the shower screen being fixed to rinse and clean the bath out properly. Other than that the apartment is very well equipped and the washing machine and dishwasher are a huge bonus ! Hope to visit again soon .....

I particularly like the kitchen that has everything! Including the new addition of very sharp knives! The walk in shower with cloud shower head and of course the underfloor heating! This was my third stay at Rock Pool, so you can see I like the property. It is ideally situated for walks along the Coast Path and exploring South East Cornwall. I can highly recommend Rock Pool and I will definitely be staying there again in the future. Thank you.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rockpool which is a lovely spacious apartment, very well equiped with everything you can think of in kitchen plus more, a comfy king-size bed in main bedroom etc etc."

Views of the sea from the large patio windows were amazing, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying the peace and quiet and views. We stayed for four nights and really liked the charm of Downberry, very peaceful, just one one village shop, a pub, a restaurant/bar and coffee shop. Lovely swimming in the sea here and walking along the beach in either direction was a real pleasure with incredible rock formations if you head east.Head west and you come to Seaton. For keener walkers the coastal path to Loose is a must(5 miles approx) , a taxi back was Just £15. We enjoyed trips out in the car to Port Wrinkle, Cremyll, Kingsland/Cawsand all a short drive away and well worth it. All in all a perfect relaxing vacation and we're lucky with lovely weather. Definitely will come back.

  • "Rockpool was a lovely apartment."

The kitchen housed every utensil/kitchen ware imaginable. Lots of modern technology in the apartment, incl a PS5! The telephones were a great idea. We did not have any need to use them, but it's a great addition as mobile signal was patchy at times in the apartment. The double bed was very comfy and provided a good nights sleep. The views from the living room were glorious. It was great to stroll down to the beach and visit The Inn on the Shore pub. Lots to do locally and further afield. Only slight thing we found was that there was not enough hot water to supply the wet room shower. Not sure if previous holiday makers had altered the timer. We did try to boost it but did not make a difference. But it was not really an issue as the bathroom shower was electric which served all of us with no issues. Definitely want to stay at Rockpool again. Have certainly returned home well rested. So glad we chose and booked Rockpool. It has taken a while for this holiday to take place as it was cancelled twice due to lockdown and covid rules with communal entrance, but really pleased we kept it booked and moved dates and didn't cancel it! We will be back.

  • "My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Rockpool, Downderry."

The apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed, including a few extras! When we arrived, Rockpool was completely spick and span and had us wondering if we had the right place! We loved sitting in the garden, feeding the birds and looking out to sea whilst knowing we had a warm toasty apartment waiting for us when we got too cold. Our favourite thing to do was to walk to Seaton beach where we had a great time swimming in the sea and having some fantastic food at the Seaton Beach cafe and The Smugglers Inn. We were slightly disappointed in the Summink Different cafe as we only came across it open once on our week long stay and as I am a long term vegetarian, would have loved to try eating here! We also never had chance to eat at the Inn on the Shore, as we found the pub understaffed, unorganised and generally abit lack lustre. However, the outdoor terrace was a great place to sit whilst sipping on a cider in an evening. Rockpool had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, a real home from home. And according to my sons tears as we drove away, a place that will be missed until we return!

  • "I found Rock Pool to be a very spacious, warm (This was February/March!"

) and comfortable property. I particularly liked the underfloor heating and the "Wet Room." The kitchen was also the best I have experienced in any property so far. Every conceivable appliance and space to use them in. The view from Rock Pool out over the roof tops to the sea is also very beautiful. The double en suite bedroom was also very comfortable and spacious. I was using Rock Pool as a base whilst I walked the South West Coast Path from Plymouth Westwards. It is ideally suited for this purpose and is situated both close to the coast path and on a regular bus route. The Inn on the Shore is but a hundred yards from the property and there are two great cafes in Seaton, a one mile walk from the property along the road or the beach. I plan on going back next year for some more coast path walking. I can highly recommend Rock Pool to holiday makers and Coast Path walkers alike.

  • "On arrival it was requested that we park in Bay No 4 but due to maintenance work being carried out the numbers had been taped over leaving new arrivals not knowing where to park (some parking was residential making the situation more difficult)."

The lights in the main bedroom were not working and we were without lighting for 2 days. The toilet flush in the en-suite was not working properly and this broke completely during our stay, there was a spotlight out in the bathroom, these issues should have been picked up by the housekeeper prior to our arrival as we arrived to find these problems. The en-suite bathroom smelt of stale urine which was most unpleasant and the grouting surrounding the toilet area was stained. The kitchen worktops felt grimy but being made of wood we appreciate that this is not easy to keep grease free though we could find no excuse for sticky shelves in the kitchen cupboards. During our stay maintenance work was being carried out to the exterior of the property i.e. being jet washed leaving the patio furniture filthy - up until this point we had enjoyed having breakfast outside as the weather was so lovely but with the work in progress and us being left to clean up afterwards access to outside was denied for 2 days. We appreciated the assistance from the housekeeper and the money left for us to have a meal as compensation. Both ourselves and our guest agreed that the pillows had an unpleasant odour. We would have appreciated a hand towel each but there were only 2 between the 3 of us Had we any idea of the problems we were to encounter and the maintenance work that was in progress all week we would not have booked this property. In our opinion the property was over equipped and ill-maintained.

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that things weren't perfect and of the trouble you had. We've highlighted this to the owners who have asked us to post the following: "We are very sorry that your experience at the apartment did not live up to our usual high standards. We can understand that the external works on the flat were annoying but these were part of work on the broader flat complex which we cannot control. The lights and flusher going must have been frustrating but our caretaker did work hard to get these matters resolved as quickly as she could. We are glad that you were able to enjoy your breakfast outside on some mornings at least and enjoy the beautiful sea views. We hope the money we gave you to have a lunch on us offered some form of compensation. We thank you for your feedback and hope these matters didn’t stop you enjoying your holiday." Property Owner
