“What a fantastic place to stay.”

Piece and quiet and in a perfect place to venture into both Devon and Cornwall. Steve and Gill are very pleasant people and only too willing to help with any problems or questions. Wouldn't hesitate to go back for another holiday.

The property

Launceston 9.5 miles.

For a truly peaceful and relaxing holiday, a stay at the Colhay Studio really is hard to beat.

Located in a tiny, sleepy hamlet near Launceston, this luxurious cottage is also well situated for touring the wonderful north coast of Cornwall as well as both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.

As you arrive after driving along the leafy country lanes to this former artist’s studio, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the superb water gardens alongside the cottage, with walkways across ponds and a waterfall, all adding to the peaceful, calming feel.

Enter into the cottage and the quality of the furnishings and cosy sitting area with pocket-sprung sofa bed and warming woodburning stove will make you realise this is a very special place indeed.

The stairs lead you to the bedroom and its balcony, a perfect place for breakfast with far-reaching, uninterrupted views over Dartmoor.

With a lovely patio, reached by crossing the ponds, a relaxing stay is guaranteed here with stargazing being a real treat.

If you can drag yourself away from the cottage though the north coast of Cornwall is easily accessible and, with the A30 nearby at Launceston, nowhere in the county is far from reach.

Whether you intend a lazy relaxing holiday or a short break visiting all the county has to offer, a stay at this magnificent cottage will be the perfect tonic at any time of year.

LAUNCESTON

Bude 19 miles.

The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. Visit the Tamar Otter Park just 3 miles away or take a trip on the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.
