The property

The Coach House is a delightful, first-floor apartment resting in the centre of Drakewalls, a quaint village in south-east Cornwall.

Inside, the owner has created a charming retreat, well-presented with all you could need for a short break with your loved one.

After parking, head up to the open-plan living space where you can sink into the leather sofas before the flatscreen TV, catching up on your favourite shows or simply conversing on where to visit next.

Move into the contemporary kitchen, finished to a superb standard with navy units and white worktops, along with a range of integrated appliances so you can whip up a hearty breakfast or sumptuous dinner.

Discover the double bedroom, neatly presented with bedside tables and matching lamps, served by a tiled bathroom where you can enjoy a soothing soak in the tub following a day of walking.

The rural village of Drakewalls offers some useful amenities including a convenience store for picking up those last-minute ingredients for dinner or try some local delicacies at the nearest pub when you don’t fancy cooking one evening.

Get to know your surroundings better by exploring the beautiful Tamar Valley AONB, straddling the border between Cornwall and Devon, or take a drive down to the lively town of Callington, home to a pleasant selection of shops and eateries.

For those who like getting about, there is walking and cycling in abundance, as well as the National Trust’s Cotehele and Cotehele Mill and Morwellham Quay taking you back in time with its copper mine museum.

Saltash harbour is 14 miles away and Seaton beach is 37 minutes away.

Venture into the Dartmoor National Park, opening up 900 square kilometers of enchanting forests, picturesque landscapes and historic sights, choosing between a leisurely stroll or a challenging cycle route.

After a day of activity, return to The Coach House and recharge your batteries.

Tavistock 5 miles; Plymouth 18 miles.

The small rural village of Gunnislake lies on the steeply wooded banks of the River Tamar. It has village pubs and a small selection of shops. Notably, the village sits at one end of the scenic Tamar Valley Railway - with regular services along the river bank to Plymouth. The area is perfect for exploring Dartmoor, the south and north coast beaches and the attractions of Cornwall’s far west. Close to hand, the Dartmoor town of Tavistock with its pannier market, pubs and restaurants is a must, as well as the popular fishing village of Calstock, renowned for its crafts and festivals, while the Donkey Sanctuary and Cotehele House and Gardens (NT) are just 10 minutes away. Enjoy a round of golf at St Mellion (8 miles), explore the restored Victorian mining village at Morwellham Quay (4 miles), search for otters and deer along the Tamar Valley footpath, visit the National Trust owned Lydford Gorge, or take a trip to the beach and picturesque harbour at Looe (25 miles) - there’s something for everyone. For something really different, why not ride the scenic Tamar Valley Railway into Plymouth and spend the day in the fabulous Marine Aquarium or strolling the historic Plymouth Hoe?
