  • "We loved our few days in Looe despite the rain and cold!"

The cottage was the perfect place to unwind. We came by train and picked up supplies in the shops nearby. We loved exploring Looe and the local area on foot and by bus from this perfect base.

  • "A beautiful old cottage with all the charm you would expect."

Located just before a steep hill and round the corner from the harbour so perfect location, with easy walking to the town and beach. Nice outside space for sitting in the evening and drying wet suits. Facilities good but could do with a grill rack in the grill pan and the cork screw needs replacing. A slip mat in the shower would be beneficial too.The bed in the main bedroom , a lovely room but the mattress dips on the left hand side as you look at it so could do with turning or replacing. These are very small concerns and didn’t spoil a lovely week in your beautiful cottage but just felt the owners should know.

We're absolutely delighted to learn that your holiday in Looe and at the Cottage was enjoyable. It truly holds a special place in our hearts, we often refer to Looe as our own "mini Venice." Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the cottage. We want to emphasise that in our pre-arrival communications with guests, we genuinely mean it when we offer our assistance throughout their stay. That goes for any items that maybe missing or need replacing which can sometimes be the case in the busy season. Rest assured, we're taking immediate action to replace the corkscrew and address the shower mat and the grill pan situation. For the benefit of our upcoming guests, we'd like to highlight that the mattress is entirely new, having been acquired in Spring 2023 with no compromise on quality, representing a significant investment. We're considering whether the center post of the bed has moved and will look into this. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as it aids us in maintaining the Cottage's impeccable condition and enhancing it as necessary. We're committed to providing an exceptional experience for all our guests, and your insights contribute to achieving that goal. Thank you once again for your valuable input. Best regards, Tracey Property Owner

  • "Property was very good Only improvements would be a tumble dryer and a second WC"

Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback on your recent stay at our property. We are delighted to hear that you had a very good experience overall. Regarding your suggestion for a second WC, we understand its importance in enhancing guest comfort. However, as our property is Grade II listed, we are bound by certain restrictions that prevent us from making alterations that could compromise its historical integrity and architectural significance. While we are unable to add another WC, we do strive to ensure that the existing facilities are well-maintained and up to standard. As for the tumble dryer, we appreciate your input on this matter. We understand the convenience it offers, especially in unpredictable weather conditions. Nevertheless, due to space limitations and the traditional layout of Fisherman's cottages in Looe, integrating a tumble dryer would prove challenging. We endeavour to provide alternative drying solutions such as washing lines and clothes horses to accommodate our guests' needs. Your feedback is essential to us, and we will continue to explore ways to enhance our guests' experiences within the constraints of the property's historical significance and space limitations. We truly value your stay with us and hope to welcome you back in the future for another pleasant experience. Once again, thank you for your 100/100 review, and if you have any further questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We remain at your service. Property Owner

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
