  • "In the write up it states off road parking ,this was a major consideration for us booking."

    in reality this translates to a pay to use car park down the hill near the riverside . yes you can stay for 1 hour to unload ,If you can get a space in the steep narrow lane at the back of the house. As previous guest has mentioned the blind in bedroom is broken and prevents access to the river veiw balcony! generally the rooms where clean and tidy and the views are to die for the house is ideally located for all the shops .restaurant and bars . a picture of the narrow spiral staircase would be a real asset to help people decide on this house . All in all pleasant house shame about the access ,but thats Looe for you

  • "Hi We have recently spent a week at the following property in Cornwall: 1052757; Nesden House in looe We have had a super week and the property was ideal for what we wanted."

    Superb location and views, clean and adequately furnished for our stay. We wanted to give a couple of feedback points to make it even better for the next people: 1) the carpet was coming away on the top stair to the first floor. It was a bit of a trip hazard (especially for the kids) so we taped it during our stay. This should be rectified 2) the smallest bedroom on the 1st floor could do with a mirror in it 3) hand towels for each bedroom would be useful (rather than 1 hand towel per floor) 4) the first bedroom on the 1st floor - access to the balcony is not possible as the blind can not be pulled up due to the fixing on the wall being broken/loose. We found it like this on day 1 5) the cleaners should of emptied/cleaned the toilet brush in the second floor bathroom as it was revolting!!! 6) the sofas in the lounge are quite smelly. Not sure what can be done about this but it is a little off putting. The bathrooms generally and kitchen were superb though.   • "We were lucky to be one of the first people to stay in this newly refurbished house."

    The house has been refurbished to a high standard. The outstanding feature is the location with absolutely stunning views over Looe with the house directly above the river and in the distance the sea. My children enjoyed watching the boats coming and going. The property really makes the most of this view with huge windows and a forward facing view in most of the rooms. The bedrooms were all fitted out with lovely furniture. The location is really handy for the town and gorgeous walks along the back lanes and up the costal path to Hannafore. Owners responded quickly and efficiently to a problem with the electrics. Limited parking time outside for one hour only but long stay car park is a five minute walk. Steep lanes and main house access is a spiral staircase so wouldn’t suit some people with mobility issues. No negatives about our experience and would definitely stay there again (but would be great if owners could add to impressive kitchen utensils a cheese grater, pizza wheel and plastic spatula).

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
