The location is brilliant for the beach and for all the eating places (the majority being there in East Looe) I used 'Ye Olde Salutation Inn' just at the bottom of the road twice ! I walked on the coastal path both east and west and made 2 rail trips on rainy days to Plymouth. Brilliant holiday !

  • "We really enjoyed our break at the Boat House, it’s a lovely well thought out modern conversion of a tiny cottage."

The location is great being in the centre of town with shops, pubs, cafes, beach and quay all less than a minute’s walk. Yet it’s on a less used street and so is very quiet We found lots of places for meals out on the doorstep. We used a weekly parking ticket from Cornwall Council to park less than 10minutes walk away, Looe’s narrow streets are not suited to vehicles, so a minor inconvenience was getting luggage to and from the cottage. Looe itself has a good bus and rail service so we were able to explore using public transport, there are lovely local coastal walks. We found the boathouse to be a great base for exploring a corner of Cornwall that we hadn’t visited before.

Good evening. Many thanks for the feedback. I am pleased to note that you had an enjoyable stay at The Boat House. Thank you so much for the feedback. Kind regards. Property Owner

  • "I've had a lovely and comfortable stay at The Boat House in Looe."

The property has been very well kept, equipped and cleaned. The bed was very comfy, the TVs are able to access Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc and WiFi was very reliable. The location is excellent with plenty of food options nearby, local bus stops and railway station are less than a 15 minute walk away. The owners have installed a Positive Presure Unit to the property which does generate a small background hum, which cannot be switched off. It did not disturb my sleep, but if you prefer to sleep in total silence then that might be something to consider. If I return to Cornwall I will definitely consider staying at The Boat House again.

Dear Matthew, Many thanks for the review. I am delighted that you had a good stay at The Boat House. The Positive Pressure Unit has worked wonders since we installed it. The unit pushes out and replaces stale humid air with drier, filtered fresher air thus improving indoor air quality. The unit does have a slight hum as the fan is constant but is a lot quieter than a noisy dehumidifier. We are updating the unit at the end of May 2023 with a one which is more compact and should be even quieter. Thanks again for staying. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. I needn't have worried, feeling at home the moment I opened the door. Such a lovely fresh and cool feel about the cottage. An absolute must is a visit to Polperro, walk the coast path if you can, it's quite a hard walk but you can get a bus or a boat back. I really liked the Fishermans Arms and Peaky Blinders. Smugglers Cott good too. Will definitely go back.

.car parking is not possible close to the cottage only to load and unload a small car but this is the same for 95% of the other holiday lets - we paid for a monthly ticket ith Cornwall Council at Millpool car park over the bridge approx 700 yards away which was cheaper than paying on a daily basis. The holiday let owner contacted us on a regular basis to check we were OK and happy with the cottage, which was very considerate of them and much appreciated by us. Overall a very nice stay.

Couldn’t get a suit case up it to narrow and really not fit for purpose. We arrived on Friday for our week and left on Tuesday morning because my wife twisted her knee on the very poor staircase and has had medical treatment when we got home. She is still on medication now. Very poor.

The cottage is beautifully and recently renovated to a very high standard. The facilities were excellent and a lot of thought had gone into providing everything needed for comfort. Extra touches like the sonas speaker and plug in torch were great. The mattress was very comfortable as was all the bedding, so we both slept very well. The bathroom was done to a high standard with a lovely shower. The owner Simon, was great at communication and obviously cares that his guests are happy. Probably the best thing about the boat house is its location. Its situated within a couple of mins walk to the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. I would most definitely recommend the boat house to others and would stay again.

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
