  • "Really enjoyed our stay at the Coachman."

    Great cosy cottage, so close to the beach, shops and restaurants which was perfect for all generations. Our only grumbles is that it wasn't easy to find, make sure you park in the right car park and so a few more specific details would have been helpful plus a pint of milk, few teabags etc would be a thoughtful touch especially after a 8 hour journey. The showers could do with a deep clean and an airer for drying would be great. This is perfect for all seasons, all occasions, superb location for exploring and making memories. Highly recommend a Wednesday night at the ship Inn in Polperro for dinner and sea shanties! Would definitely go back.

  • "We have had a lovely holiday once again in Looe."

    The Coachman is a great cottage centrally located, close to all amenities. The cottage was very clean, the kitchen has plenty of utensils and cutlery for large groups. The bedrooms are very comfortable. You need to bring your own hand towels which we were not aware of, this could be added to the description. Thank you for a lovely stay at the Coachman definitely one to return to.

  • "Took all the family, Granddaughter's first seaside holiday, so close to shops & Beach, especially with kids."

    Very comfy cottage, The negatives are - No hand towels in bathrooms, downstairs floor was quite dirty & needed hovering! No key to door at back of lounge, garlic crusher took me 20 mins to clean, utensil draw needs to be checked? Last thing was upstairs bathroom door handle had a screw going through it ,with the end of the screw sticking out far, pierced my finger badly on it? Needs to be sorted? Having said all that i would return ,it was a great place made wonderful memories x Amanda x Essex London x

    Just to let future guests know that we have recently redecorated The Coachman and changed the cleaning company that we use. A new garlic crusher, new utensils and cutlery are now in the cottage. We have rectified the problem with the top floor bathroom door handle as well. Please do bring your own hand towels.   • "Excellent location, close to the beach and shops."

    The house was clean and spacious, with rooms to accomodate all of us. The only thing I would mention was that it was a bit cold, especially in the living room and dining area.

    However, the tile joints in the shower upstairs needed a more thorough cleaning.The kitchen was well-equipped but we missed a chopping board. The property is spacious and really comfortable. A nice place to stay at

  • "Lovely cottage, very oldey worldly with loads of character and old features."

    Beds were comfy and everything was clean. All you needed in the kitchen, although we didn’t utilise everything as we ate out every day. Let down by needing a bit of updating in some areas - bathrooms (particularly the radiators), sofas. Great location and comfortably slept all 10 of us.

  • "This was a lovely old cottage which had lots of character and was in a fantastic location."

    We really enjoyed our stay at The Coachman. We do however feel a few things could be improved but overall we loved our stay. The Cottage was clean, the Bath stunning and the beds were very comfortable! The sofa was quite cold and we felt a little damp so once we covered it with two big blankets, it was a lot cosier. Our bin was full (and had no lock on like others in the area) so we had to use someone else’s bin unfortunately. The manual was lacking information about rubbish/recycling/where to buy wood for fire etc. A more detailed (and more welcoming) and up to date manual would be useful to future guests. We were surprised that the cottage did not have a tree set up in time for Christmas with very few Christmas decorations. There was a tiny black Christmas tree on the side but it was hardly worth putting it up. Luckily we took our own decorations so this wasn’t too much of a problem but we hire holiday cottages a lot at Christmas time and it’s the first time there hasn’t been much effort with regards to decorations. There was a leak under the sink (which we discovered half way threw the holiday as we started to see water on the kitchen floor due to the bowl underneath the sink filling up. This could be seen to. The lamp wasn’t working in the bunk bed room also. Some of the problems I have discussed we addressed and really enjoyed our stay. A little more time and attention to detail & this holiday home could be stunning!

Laminated instructions for the bins have also been placed in the cottage and the manuals have been reviewed. We are sorry for the lack of Christmas decorations and would ask that you please bring your own when booking for the festive season. Looe really does celebrate Christmas in style and New Year is usually a huge celebration often with the town dressing in fancy dress with themed pubs and often with fireworks off the beach at midnight. We have fitted new lights in some bedrooms. A new kitchen will be fitted in January 2023 to The Coachman as well as new radiators in the two bathrooms and to the downstairs living area.   • "Great cottage/house in a spectacular location for the beach and town."

    It is a great character filled home. The house is equipped for 10 people, although the fridge is not adequate for this amount of guests, there needs to be some upgrading with this. The washer and dryer also could need some thought, for this amount of people there needs to be seperate machines and not a duel purpose one. I would recommend them getting a parking pass/permit and having this available for their guests, walking 2 miles everyday to go back and forth is not very practical, especially with loading and unloading your car. Our stay was enjoyable and it is a good house to stay in , these tweeks would make it a great house to stay in.

  • "Location of cottage is great, very useful given how often the weather changed while we were there."

    very easy to walk over to the beach if sunny or return to cottage if weather became overcasted and all of the restaurants are in walking distance. as others have noted, although there is room to house 10 people the kitchen facilities such as fridge does not really allow for this to be comfortable for such a large group and there's no outdoor space to sit out.

Every effort has been made to ensure that space is maximised for your comfort with fridge and freezer space as well as other kitchen essentials such as a washer/dryer , microwave and coffee machine.   • "We LOVED our stay here."

    The Coachman is the perfect hideaway. Cozy, comfortable, perfectly stocked with everything you need, and in the best location possible just seconds from the beach. We spent a week here and although we intended just to use it as a base for exploring, found ourselves enjoying our evenings in too. We'd come back in a heartbeat.

  • "Absolutely great week."

    One tiny issue with the bins not being emptied and when they were there was a terrible smell that also drifted into cottage. They need to be cleaned a little more often.

  • "Ideal location 100 metres from the beautiful Looe beach."

    Had to leave the car in Millpool car park for the week but it was worth it to be so close to the beach and centre, yet just off the busiest streets. Downstairs is open plan and maybe a little small if a large group wanted to spend a lot of time there but the big dining table was great for family meals. Looe was busy in August but easy enough to escape the crowds. Fabulous but challenging coastal paths in both directions. Would go back.

  • "30 second walk to the beach was a highlight of the property, but the actual cottage itself was very nice and homely and we would definitely recommend, just watch out for the doorways if you’re over 5."

    8. Only issues was that the fridge started to smell very badly after a couple days for no apparent reason and also there is no kerbside recycling for residence in Looe and instead you have to take all recycling to the far car park.

  • "The property met expectations and was very clean and tidy when arrived."

    There where just a few problems we found when we were there that I think you should maybe be aware of to better future customers experiences. - No information about parking facilities. We paid £13 the first day for parking and then found another car park which was £2.40 per day 3 minutes walk away. Maybe think it is good to tell customers before arrival that there is an option as if you are there for a week £13 a day for 1 car can add up. - For 9 people the storage and fridge space was miniscule. We had to use cool bags for our food to keep cool whilst we were there. This would be suitable for a couple not for 9 people for 1 night let alone 3 days/week. - No information regarding recycling and food waste. We had a look through the book but no information was there so had to use boxes for our bottles and food etc and had to look around the property for the bin itself. Also no providing of bin bags to help with the waste issue. - The lighting in the bedrooms was so dark and dingy with one room only having a lamp working. - No cleaning products to clean the property whilst you are there. - Upstairs shower was cold - not a problem as we used downstairs which was perfect but did not know whether maybe a plumbing problem. Your company changed the check in time from 2pm to 4pm 1 week after paying our deposit. I feel this was always going to be the case and therefore people loose half a day with this. Other than the above, the property was in a prime location and the bedrooms were big enough and comfortable I just feel there could be way more information given to customers before going there and some small changes to the facilities of the property could make customers experiences extremely better.

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
