  • "The holiday flat is a little tatty in places and looked nicer in the photos."

There is no internet although it said there was on the website. The TV is not a smart TV which I would expect for the cost per week. There is no recycling system which I didn't like and no where to emplty the kitchen bin. It was not an issue for us but this place is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the stairs and climb when returning form town by foot.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We do have WiFi in the apartment and details for accessing the WiFi are provided. We would advise anyone with mobility issues to contact the letting agency prior to making a booking. Property Owner

A pleasure to use whilst visiting beautiful Falmouth. Well equipped, comfortable and spacious with lovely views towards the bay. However I have to mention that walking from the bay/shops is daunting for those of us whose youth is a memory. Would still recommend but use the back gate to the lane and steps opposite the Boathouse. Quickest route.down and up.

The location provides excellent views towards Carrick Roads. The property itself is furnished to a high standard, with lots of interesting paintings and personal touches in the decor. Access by road is fine but walking to and from the town involves very steep hills. There is a frequent local Cornwall Go bus service 69 or 69A route 3 mines mostly level walk from Hawkins Haven, which runs down Jubilee Road and terminates at the Moor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property.

The location is fab for Falmouth. A couple of things which need addressing:- The bed in the second bedroom, the mattress needs replacing as this is now really uncomfortable and did hamper our sleep. The bathroom in the second bedroom could do with an extractor fan as the window opens at the front of the building with people walking past. Lastly, some of the plants are now impeding the view to the harbour which is one of the selling points for this property.

Also we were a little surprised that there was no hair dryer, and a draining rack for dishes beside the sink would have been good, as would more sockets in the bedrooms - I brought an extension socket lead with me. A slightly later checkout would have been appreciated, but otherwise it was all-in-all a very pleasant stay in a comfortable and nicely furnished flat - and a short walk to the nearby Boathouse pub was much appreciated!

  • "We chose this apartment because it has lovely views and is close to town but without all the noise and hustle of the town."

It is a great location, if you don't mind a bit of an uphill walk. This is a spacious apartment, we travelled as a couple but could see it would be very comfortable for 4 people. We found all the furniture comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. As has been mentioned before there are notices telling you that access to the garden is for emergency use only. The outside space for the apartment is the balcony only. Not a problem for us, but maybe for some. That said there are some issues. The bedroom windows do not open, this was highlighted in a review last year and is still a problem. Other apartments in the block have had the windows replaced and this one needs that upgrade. We made do with leaving the window open in the en-suite, however we would not want to be there in hot summer weather without being able to open the window in the room. There is plenty of (super) hot water. The showers are both basic mixers on the bath taps with no thermostatic control, again an upgrade is overdue. Finally, if you are light sensitive then you will benefit from packing an eye mask. None of the curtains/blinds have any light blocking capability. The main bedroom gets the early morning light and the second is brightly lit all night by the intrusive exterior building lights.

Thank you for your feedback, which we always welcome. We have checked the windows of the flat and can confirm that they all open. Had you mentioned you were unable to open them during your stay we would of popped over to help. There are both blinds and curtains to help block out the light from outside. With regard to the outside space at the property, this is balcony only which is in line with the advertised amenities. We are pleased however that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Everything we needed was provided, and we very much appreciated the hospitality with the milk, local scones and clotted cream, provided as we arrived very late and the food was just what we needed in the morning. The view out of the balcony is exactly what has been featured in the photo, shame that we did not manage to sit outside due to the weather. The location is very close to the town center, within walking distance, although the journey back is quite hilly, having said that we did enjoy the walk! All in all, this is an excellent place to stay while visiting Cornwall, we very much enjoyed our stay.

However, our sleep was disturbed sleep each night by noise (calling-out, loud talking, singing and music) from the apartment above at around 4.00am in the morning. The noise went on for sometime on each occasion.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and we are sorry to see you didn't register this during your stay which would have given us the opportunity to investigate straightaway. Having spoken with the owners we can confirm the property above Hawkins Haven is occupied by a quiet couple and the local residents and neighbours are elderly and respectful. You'll see from previous feedback that this has not been raised as an issue previously and is not something that local residents are aware of. Property Owner

Hot water scalding. Sink not draining, bare nails in duck board, poorly equipped kitchen, casing on microwave is broken, is this safe. Plug chains broken in bathrooms, no use of garden not mentioned in advert. Pillows very stained, need replacing. Also tumble dryer setting was left turned on, on washer dryer so I inadvertently tumble dried my wetsuit. Housekeeping turning all settings off would have avoided this issue.Tumble drier is leaving white bits on all clothes. Wooden baton to secure patio doors is missing although there is a note asking you to keep it in place. The impression we have from "rules" posted all over the property is that residents do not like this being a holiday let and are dictating to the owners. We are very disappointed with this property and won't be returning or recommending it. Also our time here has been significantly reduced because of Covid so we need to leave at 09.30 yet we are still expected to strip the beds.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased to see that the Owner was on hand to help resolve most of these points during your stay. Hawkins Haven is listed online as an apartment with the use of a balcony with outside furniture. It was not advertised with a garden area included in this case. Many owners have adjusted their arrival and departure times to allow for Covid cleaning and we are really grateful that you were able to help with this. Property Owner

We were very lucky with having sunny weather for most of our week. This was our second time staying in Falmouth and it was lovely to re visit some of the places we first went to 5 years ago. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a fabulous view. However during the evening we found various lights not working, including a bathroom one which we didnt try to change bulb in as the fitting appeared to be coming off the ceiling. Neither bedroom had a mirror which was close to a socket. This may seem a small thing but hair drying was a nightmare. Welcome pack (scones, jam, clotted cream and milk) was a nice touch BUT if the listing says wine there should be wine. Have booked through Sykes before and will do again as, overall, the negatives were small and we had a good stay.

Thank you very much for your comments, we're really pleased to hear how much you enjoyed staying at Hawkins Haven. Thank you for letting us know about the lighting - this will be investigated. Many of the windows were purposefully unable to be opened which made it difficult to get any ventilation, particularly in the bedrooms and made nighttimes hot and unpleasant. Although this is a ground floor flat there are significantly more than the seven steps specified in order to get there from the car park, the main flight having 12 steps. As previous reviewers have said, it is a very steep walk down into Falmouth and extremely challenging on uphill return so only suitable for the super fit. This is a quiet, unattractive block of modern flats. The rear balcony has fabulous views. However, the small bistro table is not big enough for more than putting drinks on, so we were unable to use it for alfresco meals and had to eat inside which was a shame. The walk into the town is via a steep road and path which for people less able on their feet would be quite a challenge. For us it was not a problem. It takes around twenty minutes to reach the pier. (Probably a little longer to climb back up). The surrounding roads are residential so it is recommended that the directions to the apartment by car, from the main road, provided by the agent, are followed as they are the most direct. The décor is very modern and fresh with a nautical theme. The kitchen is very well designed and has extensive utensils and cooking aids. However not found were scales, a tin opener and a vegetable peeler. The views of the port out of the double aspect windows were better than expected. The apartment is one of a number of apartments in a modern block. It is set in a very quite area of the town and the use of an allocated parking space is priceless. We would certainly be keen to use Hawkins Haven again if we were to revisit Falmouth in the future.
