  • "On the whole, this is a very good property."

It's a good size, with an excellent kitchen area. However, on the listing, it states that this property is "tucked away on a tranquil leafy street". Now I know Falmouth quite well and that is a fair description of Arwenack Avenue generally, but probably not accurate for this property specifically. It is one of four cottages, two of which are student houses. Next to that is an industrial unit; a kind of overflow storage area for Trago Mills. The rear garden pretty much backs onto the beer garden of Five Degrees; a pub and pizza restaurant. The rear of that beer garden is closer to the kitchen of Neptunes than the bar of Five Degrees. The result is that you get noise from the pub until midnight every night and until 1am at weekends. Also because of the Trago Mills yard, you have forklift trucks whizzing around the street outside, and commercial vans parked on the pavement outside the property pretty much from 8am. So this was pretty inconvenient even though we travelled by train. It meant that you had to walk into the road to get past. Trying to get parked would have been an absolute nightmare and I suspect would have altered any plans that involved using your car, on a daily basis. The property should really be marketed as no parking available. There were some minor niggles. At nearly £1100 per week, I'd expect better than Freeview on the TV. Netflix and an ability to record TV programmes/watch Catch Up should be standard at this price point. Bathsheets should also be standard for this price. I hate giving poor feedback, because generally this was a good property, and if we hadn't spent so much time there (due to awful weather) some of these minor niggles may have remained inconsequential. However, for the price being charged, the specific location and parking problems, felt like this property was probably about 20-25% above the market rate. As a comparison, the exact same week, last year we stayed at the other end of Arwenack Avenue(on Grovehill Crescent), in a slightly better standard accommodation with parking, better TV package, better towels and around £200 less for the week. This week was booked in February of this year, so before increased inflation kicked in. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't look to return to this property and it's very rare I feel that about any property in Falmouth; having visited for most of the last 20 years at least once a year

  • "The only reason for 4 stars is the appalling parking situation which is beyond the owners control and appears to be a town wide problem."

It is on a hill but there are alternative routes that are easier for walking into town. The property was clean, comfortable and catered for all our needs and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Plenty to do in the area or just sit in the sunshine in the garden. Even when overcast the kitchen area is warm and light. I was ill for a couple of days and it was lovely to just sit there and relax.

Thank you for your feedback which we always welcome. Parking is always difficult in Falmouth and as you say, out of our control. Although the property itself is not on a hill, the quickest walk into the town is downhill. We are pleased you found the property clean, comfortable and found time to relax. Property Owner

  • "Overall the property was very comfortable."

However parking was even more difficult than indicated in the description. The welcome folder was hidden in a drawer. The twin beds had not been made up as a double bed. The shower was very hot and it wasn’t possible to turn it down. We notified the housekeeper by phone so I hope that got fixed before the next holiday makers arrived.

Thank you for leaving your feedback and we are glad to hear that you found the property comfortable. Parking in Falmouth is always tricky unless there is a driveway or garage available. There is a reasonably priced pay & display car park at the end of the Avenue and parking out of office hours tends to be easier’. Your comment regarding the welcome folder has been noted and our housekeeper updated. The twin beds are always made up as twins unless requested by the client that they would like it as a super king and I am sorry that your request was missed on this occasion. Regarding the shower, my housekeeper checked this after your departure and found no issue with the temperature. Property Owner

  • "The kitchen is a great room to sit with lots of light."

The kitchen could have had a coffee machine for those of us who do not drink instant. Frying pan needs replacing. Surprised to see a double bed and not a king. Although good quality bedding was provided. The Pizza and beer restaurant is very noisy in the evening, although we can sleep through noise so it didn’t disturb us.

Thank you for your feedback. We have spoken with the owner who confirms there is a cafetiere available at the property. The frying pan has been replaced . We do advertise the property as1 double and 1 zip linkable twin bed which can be made into a king if requested Property Owner

The kitchen area was really nice and it was so nice to be able to access outside from that area. Lounge just ok really we didn’t use it much and could do with a little TLC. Comfy beds all clean and generally very happy with our stay.

  • "Neptune is a beautiful cottage with absolutely everything inside that you could possibly need for the perfect holiday."

We were welcomed with fresh flowers in the kitchen/living area which was a lovely thought and we were even given dishwasher tablets and washing tablets to use. This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay and only a few minutes walk into the middle of Falmouth town centre and beautiful marina area. The only and I mean only downside to staying here is the lack of parking but we parked just at the bottom of the road in the railway car park which offers a weekly rate so not a huge problem for us.

  • "Some difficulty getting into contact for entry as it was a last minute booking."

Sykes responded and resolved this finally. Neptune cottage was perfect, excellent location, comfortable rooms, beautiful kitchen area, everything was provided. Had a lovely holiday, Falmouth a great base, especially for our late season visit (mid/late October), as you're close to shops and restaurants, lots to see locally, but equally close to magnificent coastal walks and beaches. Hardly needed the car, so would suit people arriving by train.

  • "The holiday home was absolutely fantastic!"

A brilliant location (10 mins from wonderful beach one way and fab town/harbour 5 mins the other) a really beautiful property. Facilities in the house were great including everything you could need for a fantastic family holiday - even found body boards which our children had a fantastic time on thank you! The space was really lovely especially the gorgeous kitchen dining area, the property felt lovely, very comfy beds and having loo rolls, hand soap, dishwasher tablets etc already there was really thoughtful and well received. Just to be aware parking on street is first come first served which was a bit tricky when we arrived although able to get a space eventually and stayed put as we didn’t need the car at all. Would absolutely recommend staying there, thank you to the owners for a really fantastic base (home from home feel) to explore such a stunning area. We were sad to leave!

Comfortable beds and lovely house. But needs attention with cleaning. Whole house needs a deep clean. Vacuuming was obviously a very quick whip around. Ovens were dirty and microwave so filthy it was unusable. Hair and dandruff left all over red velvet chair. A shame because a lovely house.
