  • "The 3 of us had a wonderful week in Atlantic view, absolutely nothing that any of us could moan about, all as described in the listing."

We loved the location, the walks over fields to Tintagel or down the Rocky Valley to the cliff top walks all perfect. Atlantic view for us is a wonderful base for North Cornwall with a lot of thought and care put into making a perfect holiday, would've loved to stay longer and would definitely return. Many thanks

Perfect for a family holiday and just a short walk from Tintagel. The owners were very welcoming and gave great advice on local walks. We’ve stayed in North Cornwall many times and this is definitely one of the best places we’ve stayed in.

We had a great holiday here. The lights upstairs have been updated with a dimmer feature which was nice . The washing line was not usable but there was an air dryer which we used instead. I must add that the pond is even better than the pictures suggest. Well worth a stay here.

  • "The cottage is in a nice spot albeit very isolated."

Great for walking etc less good for little kids who want beaches. You are 20 mins drive to the good beaches of polzeath etc. The property could use some investment, the bathroom needs replacing really. The kitchen is just about ok. There is a nice meadow area for the kids to play in and also brick BBQs to use which was really nice. We had a nice week overall and the weather was lovely.

  • "Atlantic view is a comfortable and well equipped cottage on a hillside just outside Tintagel."

The area is very quiet and we enjoyed the view of the coast and sea. Rich the owner sent us all the details we needed to make sure the holiday was hassle free. We have tended to stay on the South coast of Cornwall over the years and so this was our first venture to the north coast. We didn't have to go far for lovely walks and stunning scenery. During the day visited Rocky Valley, Tintagel Castle, Prince of Wales engine house, Padstow, Trevone and Boscastle. There were just two of us which meant there was plenty of space to relax after a nice meal. My partner and I enjoyed snuggling up in the evening in front of the lovely log burner. Thanks Rich - we hope to visit again.

! The cottage was well equipped and close to some real gems such as St Nectan's Waterfall, Tintagel castle, Port William Inn and the Boscastle Farm Shop & Cafe. The view was beautiful especially as the sun went down! There was plenty of outside playing space for children. We will definitely be back!

  • "We have stayed at several cottages in Cornwall and the location and setting of Atlantic View is just perfect to explore all that Cornwall has to offer."

With the lounge / dining room on the first floor give great views to the sea. Away from the coast and just a short walk along a woodland stream to the St Nectan's Waterfall was fantastic for the children. They owner and caretaker were very helpful and responsive to our questions on the DVD/Blue Ray player. Would love to come back and would strongly recommending booking Atlantic View.

  • "A beautiful property in a prefect location for exploring the coastal paths, country walks and the local beaches."

The sea views are stunning and hard not to time waste looking out the beautiful Juliet balcony windows! Further country views over fields from the back of the house do not disappoint either. The house was very clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and heating, the log fire was an added bonus for my fire loving husband and son. We have stayed in many holiday homes around this area and the kitchen here was the most well equipped out of all of them with high quality items. Likewise with the living area, electrical items etc. The outside communal areas are beautiful, with a wonderful large playing field for the children to enjoy as well as a beautiful, enclosed, pond garden to enjoy. The only very minor item I can note is that there is currently no play area, climbing frame/slide etc, as listed in the details but this did not limit our stay in any way as the outdoor space was plentiful for our outdoor loving smalls. Thank you and we will definitely be returning very soon!

  • "Overall a lovely holiday in Tintagel."

Property close to amenities, pubs and cafes. A 20min walk to the coast from the property. Nearest large supermarket is Launceston (30mins). There are two small shops in town if you require milk and bread. Can recommend a trip to Tintagel Castle which you can access via town. On arrival at the property and walking up to the second floor, there was a strong musty smell. The ceiling is showing signs of dampness all over and could do with a repaint. The bed was extremely soft and very uncomfortable to sleep on. The duvet was not big enough for the bed either. It would have been handy to have been left more than one bin bag given the small cost of them. There was a cupboard in the kitchen that was full of the owners items. I think items such as these should be locked away somewhere so that all the cupboards can be used by those renting the property. The fridge wasn't the biggest and it also didn't have all the shelves in the door apart from one to hold the milk. It also lacked a freezer which given the remoteness of the property, location to the nearest supermarket and that there are 3 bedrooms, it would of been handy to buy some frozen food items and not have to buy fresh for 7 days.

Thank you for your feedback. The ceiling has now been cleaned hopefully alleviating the musty smell and will be repainted over the Christmas period. There is a freezer downstairs along with plenty of bin liners, but this is a self-catering property so guests are expected to bring some extras. The duvet is the correct size for the bed, being a queen size duvet for a queen size bed. We hope that these issues did not impact your stay. Property Owner

  • "The bunk bed mattresses need replacing."

Very uncomfortable. An external clothes line would be helpful for getting clothes and beach towels dry. We had to put the heating on to get stuff dry. Or a washer dryer. We only got 7 dishwasher tabs but had to run the dishwasher more than once a day because only a small number of settings. But otherwise the cottage was lovely. Secluded, quiet, some good walking from the cottage with no need to get in the car.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and it is good to hear that you enjoyed Atlantic View and the surrounding area. The owner has noted your review and will certainly keep this in mind when planning for next season. There is an outdoor clothesline available: apologies that this may have been tricky to locate. A note will be added to the washing machine door to indicate where this is. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As with all self-catering properties a starter amount of dishwasher tablets, toilet roll etc might be included but the expectation is that guests will purchase their own supplies thereafter. We do hope you'll return to Atlantic View next time you holiday in Cornwall. Property Owner

Tintagel is just down the road and with Padstow/Polzeath to the south and Bude to the north all within 30 minutes drive it makes the ideal base for exploring. The accommodation itself is a real joy with modern fitted bedrooms & bathroom on the ground floor while upstairs on the first floor the owners have maximised the stunning views by providing a wonderfully laid out open plan kitchen and living area. All self catering items are provided for (Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, bedding, towels etc.) and the accommodation was spotlessly clean on arrival. The owner & caretaker were quick to respond to any queries we had which all in all gave us the perfect family stay!

  • "This lovely cottage was just what the Doctor ordered!"

It's been beautifully and tastefully refurbished and has absolutely everything you could hope for in a 'home away from home'! The cottage, it's location and surroundings - within a working farm, with stunning views of the ocean and coastline - provide a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. It was as though you couldn't help but totally relax and enjoy the ambience. And dealing with the friendly and cooperate owners (we had a few initial queries for them) couldn't have been easier. And if that wasn't enough... the walks on offer are nothing short of stunnin' ! These include the walk to the coastal path (via Rocky Valley), the beautiful waterfall at nearby St Nectern's Glen as well as the walk to Tintagel (only 2 miles) - through the farm or via the roads and tracks. You can pretty much park the car and just walk everywhere! (To Boscastle as well.) We'd love to go back and are hoping to stay there again next summer. Thank you Atlantic View Cottage for helping to make our holiday in Cornwall extremely special!

  • "Atlantic View is a lovely property and we really enjoyed our stay there."

It is surrounded by beautiful countryside with the sea in the distance. It is next door to Rocky Valley - a local beauty spot and close to St. Ninans waterfalls and well. The property is accurately described on the website, however the property could do with a little more TLC. It was disappointing that lights were not checked before our arrival. Out of 5 lights in the bathroom only 3 worked and there were two lights not working in the kitchen. That said, when they were notified to the Caretakers, the problems were rectified promptly.

***Owner Response***'I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay at Atlantic View. Please accept our apologies for the lighting, we have taken your comments on board have completed a light refurbishment of the kitchen - we have also painted and decorated many other parts of the property. With regard to the lighting we have replaced all 6 fittings in the bathroom and have made sure all lights throughout the house are in good working order. In addition we have upgraded the sound system by introducing a sound bar which is compatible with the TV Property Owner

The property was a bit disappointment as paying nearly £1.000 a week I don't think that the property reaches the standard for this price. Rusty and used facilities let us down. Location is perfect and outdoor space is very well looked after.

***Owner response*** I am sorry you felt this way, at our last inspection we certainly did not pick up and facilities that were rusty. The property is thoroughly cleaned every week and we would certainly change any facility that was rusty. We will arrange Helpful Holidays to assess and make sure all facilities are up to standard. As well as its own small garden and patio with views across the fields to the sea, Atlantic View shares with its neighbours a large lawned area with picnic tables and BBQ.

The cottage is cleverly arranged in a reverse style to take full advantage of the superb views.

The first floor living/kitchen/diner is contemporary, stylish and fully open plan.

Glazed doors lead to twin Juliet balconies, perfect for admiring the ever changing seascape just outside, and for those out of season breaks, the large wood burning stove adds extra warmth.

On the ground floor are three bedrooms, a double and a bunk bedded room both with sea views, a second double room and a family bathroom.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a 40-minute drive.
