  • "We had a great holiday and really loved the cottage."

It was extremely clean, facilities were good and scones cream jam and milk really welcoming. We would recommend to anyone. Only drawback is the parking on a not very wide country road. It's possible but slightly worrying that it may cause an obstruction and alternatively I wouldn't want to have to drive around to find a parking place. Otherwise a perfect setting.

  • "We own a holiday let ourselves so know a thing or two about what is required."

We compiled a list that should be relayed to the current owners of Blue cottage as there are several elements that need updating/upgrading that has been mentioned for many years in the visitor book but have not been sorted. Perhaps this route of feedback may prove more useful. Elements to update: Broken armchair in lounge (armrest about to fall off). TV remote not working despite fresh batteries. Kitchen feels grubby. Not helped by a container under the sink containing what looks like a home concoction of god knows what. Lino bubbling in kitchen (tripping hazard that caught us out several times). Landing that needs additional rail and higher balustrade (we had similar issues in our 1880s holiday let). No spare bulbs that work (lamp behind TV needs new bulb). Plug sockets rather lose and need replacing or at the least tightening. Bathroom heater = electric. Is this OK in 2021? Seems lethal to us. Also, its very dusty which would not seem wise. Would suggest removal. Towel rail in bathroom not working. Bathroom main light turns on then within seconds turns off so had to use shaver light as the main source of light in there. Mould on bathroom grouting. Too many rugs in our opinion (combines with variable floor heights and low ceilings adds to the challenge of getting around) - would not like to house an elderly person in there. Freezer not defrosted in ages so had to wrestle to get in and out of it. Plates/crockery could do with updating as look like a charity shop mix and match (e.g. a mug from Wales in a Cornish cottage). Broken ornaments eg earless cat in lounge. All of these elements are very easily addressed. It smacks of laziness when such aspects are left unattended by owners and have been for many years. This is a real shame as the building itself is so lovely and deserves better. The location is also ideal and we loved our holiday despite the property. We would have happily rebooked if the property was evidently being improved but we will avoid Blue Cottage in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Blue Cottage. A member of our Quality Assurance team has been out to look at the property and we are working closely with the owner and housekeepers to rectify any issues. The guests who visited the following week have submitted a very positive feedback response and enjoyed their stay immensely. We do hope to welcome you back to the West Country in the near future. Lovely cottage in a super location, but just a little unloved. Heating was turned off. No access to heating controls during our rainy stay which gave the cottage a damp feeling.

But quaint and happily rustic with an aga We had great weather so could enjoy the pretty garden. Fabulous location for the beach and creek and near to Truro , the ferry and Trelissick.

  • "We had a wonderful week in Blue Cottage."

It's homely and comfortable, with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Yes, it is a little dated, but that just adds to its charm and character. Like any old cottage it is a little chilly in winter but that just makes cosy nights in front of the open fire all the more enjoyable. We've stayed in many cottages that have been modernised to the point where all their original character has been removed. Blue cottage has the feel of a family home, full of stories and memories. The location is perfect, too. We will definitely return.

Parking a very big problem with man who live by the Cottage and the reading room property have now been sold and we overheard the new owner who told us we could not park there he was letting it as a holiday let when it was refurbished We found the shower lacking

Owner Response** We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback. The road outside the property is public and therefore is available for all, there are no reserved spaces. The shower is electric and although this provides an adequate amount of hot water the pressure is always limited. Property Owner

  • "Blue cottage is delightful, tucked away with a little courtyard garden - offering peace and quiet."

The bay is a short walk away past the church and the book phone box ( lovely idea) - a beautiful bay with cafe and watersports. Feock is a good base from which to explore Cornwall - from Truro, Falmouth over the ferry to St Mawes to further afield, Newquay, St Ives and if you don't mind heights Tintagel and Bedruthin. The cottage was quaint and quirky, clean and comfortable - and had everything we needed including a full cream tea when we arrived!

  • "This is a great little cottage extremely well located while in a super quiet area."

If visitors are travelling with more than one car it can be difficult to find a nice parking space for both cars but that is the only downside.

  • "Although travelling alone with my dog, I chose a larger cottage with a bathroom as it is important for me to bath at night with a special emollient as I have a skin condition."

The bathroom was ok but there was not enough hot water to give more than 2 1/2 inches. Completely unacceptable, especially after a long day walking. I guess the temperature of the immersion is turned down as I was alone at the cottage and hardly used any hot water. I was using kettles to top it up. The weather was good whilst I was there but cold in the evenings and there was no central heating on the ground floor and storage heaters not working in the double bedroom upstairs. There were 2 convector heaters that I moved about with me but the ground floor was cold, especially the kitchen. In the listing it shows and mentions an Aga - is that turned on in the winter months? There were not instructions at all about heating or hot water. Such a shame as I really loved the cottage. It was very clean, well equipped and in a beautiful, quiet and convenient situation. I would like to return but only if I knew that there would be adequate hot water and heating. I knew there would be no wifi but it was difficult when I had to ask for assistance when the immersion was not working at all. Sykes had obviously sent me messages although there was no connection and I got them when I got home.

** Owner response - we would welcome you back to Blue Cottage. We identified time sync issues with the immersion and have resolved this so there should be plenty of hot water. We provide additional plug in electric heaters and we are now providing a freezer, dishwasher, WiFi and have decorated the cottage and added new bedroom furniture, we hope you like it! • "The cottage didn't have WiFi or a Dishwasher."

My fault for not picking up on this, but thought it was standard these days. However, I accept that this was probably reflected in the price as it was very good value. The cottage was comfortable though. Disappointed to only be provided with one tea towel when linen is provided, especially as there's no dishwasher. When I called to ask for more I was passed from one agent to another who returned my call and said only one tea towel is provided with self catering (never experienced this before). We went out and bought 3 extra tea towels, I hope they are washed and left for future guests! It's the little inexpensive things that make a difference. Our welcome pack included tea, coffee, milk and the makings of a cream tea - nice touch. Thank you.

** Owner response - We are pleased you considered Blue Cottage good value. We would love to welcome you back to Blue Cottage again soon, we have installed a dishwasher and WiFi and you will see lots of other updates we have implemented over the quieter period Property Owner

  • "We appreciated the homely straightforward and unpretentious qualities of this old cottage."

It was well equipped and located for exploring the local area: from the nearby beach, cafe and watersports to beyond travelling on the ferry to the Roseland headland.

  • "The property is tired."

while the facilities are good a cottage that can sleep 6 should have a dishwasher. The hot tap in the bathroom basin is dripping continuously as it needs a new washer. The garden is overgrown, the back part of it needs to be completely cleared so that it can be used, and there are trailing brambles that would be an issue for young children. Overall a good cottage but with a little effort could be excellent. Andrew

**Owner Response - we have addressed all the points raised, new hand basin taps, new furniture, curtains, carpets, decoration, new fridge and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, bedroom furniture, mattresses and WiFi. The cottage garden has been trimmed back but we like to maintain the traditional nature so it will always keep it's country charm. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was basic, decor and furnishings tired and dated."

Garden furniture (plastic table and chairs) were stained with green algae and one chair was broken, half way through the holiday the furniture was replaced with a lovely wooden set. The low kitchen ceiling was an issue, my husband repeatdley banged his head.
