  • "We have just returned from our third visit to The Meadow and as always had a lovely week."

However there are a few things I need to mention. The shower in the en-suite bedroom is not working very well at all. There was dirty washing left in this room from a previous guest. The heating was not on when we arrived which in February was needed as the place felt very cold. The thermostat was set at 10c .I know the company taking care of the property has recently changed but the contact number hadn’t been amended in the cottage or on our booking confirmation. I wouldn’t want any of these things to stop people booking The Meadow as it is a wonderful place for a quiet week away.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the issues you faced during your stay - taking your experiences into account, we have subsequently moved away from the property management company who were looking after the property. We hope to welcome you back soon Property Owner

It was very well equipped, clean and warm and the beds were very comfortable. Listening to the owls in the evening was a joy for us ‘townies’ and it was so nice to take the dog for a walk around the creek when the tide went out. We will be returning.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear how other people love the Meadow too! We look forward to welcoming you back Property Owner

  • "Beautifully situated overlooking the creek, very peaceful too."

We had our dog with us - the garden is not secure so if you're taking a pooch might need supervising. The Meadows is quite comfortable and very well equipped. We did find the en suite bedroom a bit dark and small for a kingsize bed.

Thank you for your feedback - we too love the peacefulness of the cottage. We hope to welcome you back soon! Property Owner

  • "Very disappointed with en-suite."

Expected it to be with main bedroom but with bedroom 3, smallest one (large single?) and the one without a view. Electric shower more of a drizzle and difficult to set temperature so potentially dangerous when suddenly becoming very hot. Door opened wrong side, by shower unit and onto radiator and WC. Nowhere for toiletries. Cistern overflowing into pan. Cloakroom basin so not useful in en-suite. Fanlight window handle extremely stiff. Dreadful toilet rolls and only two provided for six people. Cistern flush button in toilet could stick causing continuous flow of water into pan. Fridge missing two shelves and no bar on bottom door shelf so couldn’t store milk there. Worktop damaged. Furniture cheap and cheerful. No apparent way of receiving normal (BBC, ITV, C4) TV, only apps. Some rust on patio furniture so wary of clothing stains/damage. Shortage of drinks glasses (none for g&t for example or for soft drinks) and yet copious amounts of crockery and cutlery. Externally property tired. Cracks in walls and patching and repainting required as well as good clean of soffits etc. Entrance to driveway needs to be widened by a metre. Dustbin too small for six people’s waste - on arrival already half full from previous guests and two-thirds full on departure. Everything goes in; no separation of recyclables. Wi-fi connection good but asked not to download large amounts of data (?) so possibly not good for children - or certain types of working from “home”! Mobile signal (EE) acceptable. Also, threatening a £50 per hour charge for late departures raised a laugh; we were gone by 10. Redeeming features? View and peace. Good location outside of school holidays. All in all, someone paying c. £2,500 for a week will probably have more comfort at home and wouldn’t expect to go down market for that amount of money. Well over-priced. Can’t do much about the en-suite but definite room for improvement in comfort and welcome.

Thank you for your detailed feedback on our self-catering cottage. We appreciate constructive feedback, although sadly cannot change the layout of the property. We endeavour to respond to all reviews and hence there are a couple of your points that we would like to address. The en-suite shower is electric so although it is not the most powerful shower in the world, you can control the temperature like any other one. The bin in the kitchen is of course always emptied between guests so we assume your comment refers to the wheelie bin outside - this is collected by a company every Friday, a collection day we have no say in. We are sorry that bin bags from a previous guest in the wheelie bin was below standard for you, it’s something that is fairly common place in holiday cottages given the inability to dictate collection days. Similarly, late departure fees are standard so we can have the property ready for our next guests. Not asking you to download large amounts of data is a kind request and one we rarely (if ever) have a problem with, but we are glad you found the mobile phone signal satisfactory. All in all, we are sorry if you felt our family cottage was not up to your standards and we hope you find more comfort elsewhere. Property Owner

  • "I wont mention the good, as this is what is required and paid for."

Negative points, Vodafone signal none existent in the property, not mentioned in the booking website, a booster should be installed, TV too small for a large room and 6 people, no cushions for the terrace furniture, would you sit all day on a metal chair?, freezer tiny insufficient for 6 people, external light to front elevation not working, two cushions for 2 sofas for 6 people insufficient, 2 small table lamps for a large room insufficient, refuse disposal provision insufficient for 6 people, name of broadband not listed in book, these are all comfort items, which should be addressed for a property of over £2k for a week! penny pinching comes to mind.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you felt some of the comfort items were not up to the standard you would expect, but appreciate the positive scoring you gave the other aspects of the property. We have noted your point on the TV and have ordered a larger one to arrive in the next two weeks. The light outside is motion activated and only works in the dark, but we will check the bulb is working. We are unsure about your point on the refuse disposal. Bin bags are supplied, there is a large kitchen bin and an outside wheelie bin. Property Owner

Of the beaten track yet very accessible to the A 39 to go of on adventures in Cornwall. A lovely walk at low tide to Loe Beach with a wonderful cafe. The view is breath taking and we sat out in the evening watching the creek. The dogs enjoyed themselves on the enclosed decking. We played with them in the garden but this is steep. The kitchen gives you everything you need to cook a quick meal at any time. One problem : the tinopener was not working and caused a bit of problem. The bungalow is wonderful and comfortable. We'll hopefully return.

The house sits beautifully with lovely views. It was fairly clean but the bath still had a rim of scum around it and the fridge/freezer could do with a good clean. The bed wasn't that comfortable, rather like sleeping in a hammock. But apart from that we did enjoy our stay and would recommend the house.

Outside, the condition of the building is a little tired and would benefit from a bit of paint. Both of us plus our two dogs enjoyed exploring the Fal Estuary and Roseland Peninsula on many pleasant walks that are easily accessible due to the location of the house. Trellisik Gardens are very close by,well worth the walk up the hill ! It was great at the end of the day to relax in the comfortable sitting area or on the deck (a lovely sun trap). We found the house well equipped and everything was clean and well arranged when we arrived. We appreciated the peace and quiet of the village but be prepared to travel 5 - 10 mins in the car for any provisions, we would love to return soon.

The house is modern, spacious and comfortable. We loved our stay and loved the convenience for access to Truro and Falmouth it is in a great location. Unfortunately the property was not wheelchair accessible due to the steps at the front door and from the balcony. However, with photos of the steps and measurements, people can decide for themselves whether the steps are manageable. Luckily, I had my two portable ramps with me and used them. The property could easily be made wheelchair accessible by making the front door steps into a ramp or by buying a portable ramp for it

Some furniture is looking a little tired e.g. rug in lounge area looks a little stained and the settees are not the most comfortable. Perhaps a 4 slice toaster would be more suitable for a property for 6 people, and trays for the oven for the usual frozen chips etc would be beneficial - we could only find one deep tray to use. We have stayed a few times at The Meadow and its location is hard to beat and have rebooked for next year despite quite an increase in the rental cost.

Thank you for your feedback and continued visits. A new rug, additional oven trays and new sofas have been purchased. We very much hope this will make your make stay more comfortable. Property Owner

The position of the house is fabulous and we never tire of the view and spent quite a lot of time paddle boarding or walking by the creek at low tide! Everything in the house met our needs although a four slice toaster would suit a family of six rather than the rather slow two slicer! Also, oven trays for cooking frozen foods. The information folder in the house stated that bin and waste collection was Friday, but it appears to be Thursday, so this information may need altering. Booked already for next year - any chance of a guarantee of another two weeks of sunshine?!!

We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back next year. Thank you for your useful feedback which we will take into account. Very well equipped and furnished. One very small thing to mention - the Sykes website or the details that we viewed said that dogs were not allowed on the furniture or on the beds (both of which are expected and totally fine) - what wasn't made clear was that our dog was not allowed past the door separating the open plan area and the bedroom area. As he always sleeps on a bedroom floor at home this proved a little challenging! The location is fabulous and the children loved playing in the garden. The house is well planned for both adults and children and allows everyone to be together whether cooking, playing, eating or generally sharing time together. We did encounter a few small issues that could increase the "fabulousness" of the house ( we left a note of these for the people servicing the house): * The kettle needs replacing - it leaks and on occasions switched itself on and off. * Storage in the bedrooms is a little tight - there are no chests of drawers in any of the rooms for your "smalls" and other clothing items. * The freezer did not freeze very well - mini milk ice lollies became mini milk drinks! These are only small niggles, though, and we hope to be back again next year.
