The property

Settled in the coastal town of Bude in Cornwall, near a long sandy beach, is this stylish, single-storey cottage, 3 Bears Cottage.

Enjoying a great selection of bars and restaurants just paces away, as well as crashing waves for the surfers at heart, this two-bedroom cottage is ideal for a family or four friends.

Upon arrival, leave your vehicle in the off-road parking space, making unloading an easy task, and admire your detached holiday home.

Step inside to discover the sitting room, well-presented in grey and ochre and hosting a corner sofa to sprawl on with a good book and cup of tea.

Moving through the home, locate the spacious kitchen/diner, where budding chefs can make use of the electric oven and gas hob to rustle up mouth-watering dishes.

Uncork a bottle of fizz and settle down on the dining seating to toast to your hideaway and catch up on the highlights of the holiday.

On warm evenings, throw open the back door to discover the lovely lawned area, idyllic to soak in the peaceful setting.

As the evening draws to a close, head inside to find the family bathroom, where a tub invites you to relax your muscles in a bubble bath, or you can rinse the sand away in the overhead shower.

To rest your head, choose between the double or twin bedroom, the twin being zip/link for flexible sleeping arrangements and the double offering a vintage chest of drawers.

Awaken with a refreshing walk to Summerleaze Beach for a long stretch of sand, rock pools to unveil and beach huts to change into your costume.

You can fuel your excursions at traditional tea rooms before heading to Bude Sea Pool to soak in the coastal sights or test your golfing skills at Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club.

Jump in the car to explore the unspoilt countryside of Cornwall, ramble the National Nature Reserve of Dunsdon, and tour Dunsland wildlife park to meet your favourtie animals, or escape to the tranquil spot of Pentargon Waterfall.

History buffs may wish to visit the ancient village of Tintagel, home to Tintagel castle, steeped in stories or Cornwall's past, a wheel-chair friendly cliff-top for panoramic views of the sea, as well as a Toy Museum for the little ones.

About the location

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
