  • "Third visit to Toby’s Quay and we’ve booked for next year, so that shows we love it!"

The location is perfect: beautiful views across the water, quiet yet very close to everything you need: shops, restaurants, the ferries. A couple of plus points - The cleaning team were very helpful - The new double bed is very comfortable A couple of things that could be improved - couldn’t find a comfortable pillow - One of the wall lights in the main bedroom doesn’t work - the bathroom taps/plugs could do with an upgrade

I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. The light is working again and, following a very busy season, we have some maintenance booked for early in the new year and look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic place &location."

Third holiday here. The balcony roof leaks & drips so you can't sit on the balcony until it's completely dry. The patio furniture needs to be updated as one chair has a broken arm. Both these issues were raised 2 years ago! The window sill in the twin room falls off as not attached. The ensuite shower leaks from the rusted pipe it sprays out in opposite direction. Appreciate new carpet and fresh paint (although you can see where it's been touched up) very clean, ample equipment. Stunning views and location. Just needs added attention to detail. Would still stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your holiday, it is fantastic location with stunning views. The balcony roof belongs to the bottom of the balcony of the apartment above, the owners do seal the underside of the above balcony annually and are looking into ways it might be possible to reduce any dripping. The patio chair has been repaired, it was just a loose bolt, due to the furniture being moved around. The windowsill in the twin bedroom has been fixed and the shower pipe has been replaced. We do hope to welcome you back to the apartment in the not-too-distant future. Property Owner

  • "Really loved Tobys Quay it was a great place and loved the balcony just fabulous."

It was spacious and clean with nice towels and bedding all great. My one complaint is that on our last evening we had a Track and trace contact telling us to isolate for 10 days and of course we had to drive home, I rang your number but you were closed and dialled the emergency number as I was worried we could have Covid and the cleaners would be coming in the next morning. I left a message and no one called me back. Luckily I had the cleaners number and co tacked her myself to give her a heads up. Bad form on your part I feel

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your time at Tobys Quay. We are sorry that no one came back to you. The housekeeper informed us that you had been in contact and made them aware. We hope all is well and look forward to welcoming you back to Cornwall. Property Owner

  • "The apartment was located in a beautiful location with stunning views, however the balcony outside was tatty with paint peeling off the hand railings, wooden furniture uncomfortable with no seating pads to use."

We had my parents with us aged 86 and 80 so you can imagine the discomfort for them.Overall inside had everything you needed ,but it needs new internal doors, which were stained and dirty in places. Walls need painting, carpets cleaned. We paid a lot of money for the apartment for the week, in my opinion this could have been sorted out during lockdown when it wasn’t being used.I would appreciate a reply regarding what has been pointed out.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback. Unfortunately lockdown prevented the general maintenance usually undertaken. The elements highlighted will be actioned by the Owner early next year. Property Owner

  • "Carpets need a clean the dirt was more evident in the evening when the lights were on."

The double duvet 10.5 tog needs replacing it had yellow stains on. The sofas need replacing as the seats are very saggy to sit on, you end up sitting in a dip, which is not very comfortable. Both shaver points don't work in the bathrooms. The rail on the balcony had paint flacking off underneath which didn't look very nice, one of the arms on the wooden chairs was broken, could do with some seat cushions and a throw for outside. Would have been nice to have had a coffee machine and some champagne flutes. The front door lock needs looking at before it gives up altogether. There was no parking permit when we arrived. On a positive note the views from the apt were fabulous, and the flowers scones, cream, jam and milk were a nice welcome.

  • "Had a lovely break here, nice and relaxing with a great view watching the boats go by."

Also, just a walk up some steps and then your right by restaurants and shops. Nice extra when we got there, we had scones, jam and clotted cream left for us and some milk, coffee, tea and sugar.

  • "Toby's Quay is a beautiful Appartment, the views are more than we could have hoped for."

The scones/jam/cream, flowers and milk were a lovely gesture and enjoyable! The apartment had everything and more than was expected and very clean. An added bonus was the garage! The only down for us were the steps/incline ( not good for arthritic knees) to get to the main shops/pubs/restaurants, this was not mentioned in the write up, if it were we probably would not have chosen this apartment. So we ended up going further afield having to use the car for eating out.

  • "Their isn't enough superlatives to describe the views and location."

5 minute walk to a small supermarket or 3 minute drive to a large one. We got engaged on the veranda so we will always have fond memories of this place. On the whole I found the flat adequate for us, being the beginning of April it's a quarter of the price of August. If I had to be picky, there isn't enough pantry space for food that doesn't require refrigerating, under the TV is dusty and yes there's still mold (guests should keep extractor fans on for longer) in the bathrooms. One other daunting experience is walking to the front door, there isn't a railing and it's a drop into the bay. We didn't mind this, for it added to the appeal of the holiday and character of the building The flat is comfortable and warm, plus waking up and walking to the living room and seeing the sun shine through the veranda double doors is breath taking. Would I use this place again? YES,

  • "We couldn't fault the view and setting, however the flat was not as clean when we arrived as we would have expected."

It was a disappointment to have to hoover and dust the flat after travelling for almost 8 hours and 400 miles. Also some of the utensils and crockery were very dirty and had food stains and rust on them! We had to clean everything that we needed before we used them, which one should not have to do after spending over £700 for a weeks stay. Some of the utensils were useless; the knives were so blunt they were redundant (we had to purchase are own), the wooden chopping board was broken and had a big split in it, and the weighing scales didn't have a battery so we couldn't use it. The silicone around the bath and shower had black mould starting to grow. Generally speaking, the apartment seemed a bit tired and would benefit from being redecorated throughout. Good location but seriously lacking in attention to detail. Definitely will not be staying in Toby's Quay's again and unfortunately would not recommend it!

I was not told of the unusual locking mechanism before arriving and although Kristie? helped me solve the problem on arrival it was an issue throughout the stay. The landlord and a neighbour were extremely helpful and did everything they could to sort out a plumbing issue and an electrical problem but Sykes seemed to abandon me and never once checked back during the 2 weeks to make sure that problems were being resolved.

  • "Arriving in the dark was not helpful In winter bookings the time could be altered to suit tired travellers who had never been before and were trying hard to unpack, wheel suitcases, cross cobbles with sea pounding and rain drenched pathways, all in the 'given' time'."

Once in, I looked for help in the way of car parking info. I appreciate that 'perching at the counter' is for the young and we who are older focus round a table with lower chairs in our own lifestyle but tried hard not to mind. It would have been so nice to speak to someone so I could have asked about mix-up over our bathroom heating, I emailed and phoned but it was not till the end of the week that it got sorted. A welcome pack which I believe had been a nice idea in the past in this property-read the visitors book- was not welcoming us so guess it was a missed trick. We had been travailing for a month and staying ant many different places since leaving France and luckily had some extra bedding to add to main bedroom. I brought in my husbands wheelchair so he had a higher chair to sit in, and get out of, apart from these 'bits' I guess I should have asked...but who? We did love the place and the one man who spurred me on to 'hurry-up' when loading my husband into the car (under 5 minutes) and collect my brother -also a bit slow- was easily dealt with by my pointing out we did in-fact have a little time left on time- card. I loved the place but was a bit stressed out by not being able to talk to Sykes.
