  • "The whole house smells damp and musty including the cupboards and drawers."

The roof garden was good The beds were clean and comfortable but the whole house needs a good cleaning from top to bottom . The backyard was filthy and there was old dog faeces near the barbecue we did not go out there . It did not spoil our week but I would not go there again .

  • "Toilet seat fell off, bedroom door stuck when trying to open."

Back yard very damp green mould, moss and snails. No yellow bin liners. Garage height could not accommodate car with roof box. Garage very tight to manoeuvre car into when neighbours vehicles parked on road. Steep narrow road adjoining premises. Parked on road about 1/4 mile away all of the time. Could not get dish washer to work. Large kitchen but no washing machine or dryer. Front bedrooms some of the drawer units had a damp smell so could not be used. That said house was clean and generally well appointed with WiFi and USB connections in every room including smart TVs. Roof garden was great, dog friendly house, neighbours also friendly if not a little OCD about their parking areas. Beautiful town great beach unfortunately no dogs allowed on main beach except for a small rocky cove. Property owner has done about as much as they reasonably can given the geography and limited footprint of where the house is located

  • "The garage and the roof terrace are really useful benefits."

Very well kept. Nowhere other than roof terrace to sit down to eat as a family. Steep walk down to town like much of Looe but all via road/path not steps so easier to do for some people. Good communication from the owners too.

  • "We had a lovely week at Penmar, the roof terrace and dining area was an added bonus."

It was lovely and clean and well stocked for a family group. Location was perfect, walking distance to the town and beach. We didn't attempt to use the garage but it made great storage for paddleboard and kayak. We will definitely be back.

Dear Penny, Thank you for your lovely feedback, we would love for you to return! Kindest regards Justine and Mark Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week at Penmar!"

The cottage is beautifully and newly decorated, and was ideal for our family of 5 (including 3 children), and our dog, Poppy! The roof terrace was amazing, offering wonderful views over the West and East Looe River. Plenty of space within the cottage for us all. Looe itself is beautiful, with plenty to see and do for families; it is also extremely dog friendly. We loved it, and would love to return!

Thank you Clare , for your fantastic feedback we are so pleased you enjoyed Penmar and the views from the roof terrace . We would love for you to return anytime. Kindest regards Justine and Mark Property Owner

  • "Penmar is a clean, comfortable and well~equipped property."

The sofas and beds were just about the most comfortable we’ve experienced in any rented holiday cottage. The kitchen equipment was all of very good quality: plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware to use the dishwasher efficiently. Smart TVs we’re simple to use and a digital radio was supplied. Bedrooms offered charging hubs for phones/tablets etc. We did not use the roof terrace as our break was out of season but it’s a lovely area. The garage was too small for our car but there was plenty of roadside parking a hundred yards down the road. Looe is delightful…lots of good walking around the area, nice shops and charming pubs. All you’d want from a Cornish holiday.

Hi Diane, We are so pleased you enjoyed Penmar, shame the weather didn't allow you to fully appreciate the roof terrace and views across Looe. We are aware that the Garage is a bit tight , but i can squeeze our Discovery in and exit the Drivers door We would love you to return. kindest regards Justine and Mark. Property Owner

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
