  • "Spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable accommodation."

Secure, enclosed garden, safe for our little dog. 5 mins from the A30, Cathy the property owner gave some really great tips and information on places, beaches and walks. It really was ‘home from home’, and we will definitely book Strawberries and Cream Retreat again, will also recommend to our family and friends

  • "The property is ideal for our needs."

It is clean, spacious, well-equipped and the high wall and fence around the garden make it ideal to let the dogs go outside. With family living close-by, we have come to regard this area as a second home. Morning walks on Portreath beach followed by a visit to Pod cafe or Porthtowan beach and a visit to Blue Bar. We hope to be back later this year away from the busy season. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the area and a safe for their dog(s).

Everything you need for your stay. Lovely cream tea and flowers were a nice touch. Also a bottle of milk. Hosts where available if needed, but not obtrusive. Location is ideal to visit places in west Cornwall. Easy access to A30. I would highly recommend this accommodation and would return.

  • "Strawberries and Cream Retreat was just what we were looking for."

Only 2 minutes off the A30, so this made it easy to go further afield. During our stay we visited Sennen Cove ( next to Lands End) plus resorts on the south coast and north coast and everywhere in between. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very spacious. Larger than a lot of one-bed cottages we have stayed in over the years. The garden was a must for our Border Collie Harvey.

  • "Exceptionally clean, most needs catered for but a shelf and clothes hooks in the bathroom would be a great advantage."

Instructions for appliances and heating couldn’t be found ( something remarked on in the visitors book ). Beaches are within easy reach and also supermarkets . The welcoming scones were a nice surprise but I’m afraid the jam was five years out of date ( hopefully a label misprint ) . Safe enclosed area for dogs and off-road parking. The conservatory is lovely to relax in when the sun shines but lacks Lightning. The owner is an accomplished artist and we purchased one of her lovely paintings. Definitely would consider a revisit.

The size and layout was great. The shower worked very well. Everything was there to allow us to cook. The patio was a lovely sun trap to sit on and have a cup of tea. The bed was a good size, but the mattress was a little hard for our old bones. Easy to explore the beauty of West Cornwall from. The local pub was dog friendly and made great food. We had a lovely relaxing week.

Great location for walking and sea front. No great response time when things go wrong, heating came on for example and you can’t control it. Wi-Fi not brilliant, would say average, I was one user, so not much of a drain. You can hear the A30 in the garden and when windows open. The accommodation is joined to the owners property and could also hear them quite a lot.

The property has been recently refurbished and is of a very high standard. It has all mod cons and I found it to be spacious and quiet. I particularly liked the conservatory which almost added another room to the property. It was a pleasure to find welcoming strawberries and cream on my arrival. Cathy ensured that my stay in the retreat ran smoothly. I would certainly recommend the property to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, stress free environment from which to holiday and unwind for a week or two. I hope to go back again myself in the future. Highly recommended.

  • "A little difficulty finding property as the road where it's situated is divided into 3 parts & continues through 2 sets of crossroads."

We were met with a warm welcome from William and Cathy who own the attached farm too, and enjoyed the cream scones and jam, and the homely touches such as flowers. Once we found our bearings, there's a nearby pub and corner shop, and the nearest beach is Portreath with a great Chinese takeaway, cafe and Bassett public house. Dogs aren't actually allowed on most beaches during July and August except before 10 am and after 6 pm, which is a shame, but they're allowed in most pubs. The location suited us very well, being close to many tourist attractions, beaches and Healey's Cyder Farm. The property itself is beautifully presented, clean, warm, dog-friendly, modern with good facilities for a couple. Dogs were not actually allowed in the bedroom but most dogs would probably jump onto the sofa if left unattended. Bed was comfortable. Shower lovely. Certain sundries such as wash-up liquid, shampoo, milk, bottle opener weren't provided, but found hair dryer, tea, coffee and sugar useful . The garden is enclosed and is fantastic for dogs, even the escape artists who squeeze round the back, and the conservatory is comfortable, warm and light. Cathy's paintings were tastefully displayed on walls and can be purchased, or commissioned to order. I would certainly recommend the accommodation and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

The area was quiet so provided good opportunity for peace and relaxation. The car park bay was a convenient addition to the accommodation. The location is well placed to visit all the wonderful towns and bays that Cornwall has to offer. The local superstore (Aldi) was just up the road which was also convenient, so no need to bring all your shopping with you. The hosts were available during the stay but we did not need anything during our stay. We loved the local beaches (approx 3 miles away), our favourite was Porthtowan as it was reasonably quiet, it has some nice places to eat and drink and had a lovely coast walk - perfect! We would definitely return to Strawberries and Cream Retreat so would certainly highly recommend this as a good place to consider staying. Nearly forgot to mention that our little dog Jess loved the secure garden and her stay.
