  • "Lantyan House is a very spacious house with a modern open plan feel."

Lots of space inside and and outside at the front and the back. The house is very well equipped and very tastefully furnished. We all loved breakfast on the terrace and the BBQ in the garden. It is half way up a steep hill from Golant on the Fowey Estuary providing the most breathtaking views of the Estuary and surrounding fields imaginable. Our week went by all too quickly and now we are back in London with everyone in our party from Grandparents down to Grandchildren giving thumbs up for another week next year.

  • "The house itself met our expectations and the views were exceptional."

All the way through the process Sykes gave us all the support required and were very professional. The only problem we had was finding the cutlery. Obviously we were not the only visitors to do so as there was a couple of comments in the visitors book about lack of cutlery and we noticed previous occupants had bought plastic knives and forks. The first time I phoned the housekeeper she wasn't very helpful as she didn't appear to know there was a secret drawer in the large drawer. She rang back when she had obviously spoken to the cleaners, and eventually I found it whilst I was on the phone. All it would take is a small printed note on the drawer itself. We did find a helpful comment later on the next day in the book of instructions, but of course people don't read this as soon as they arrive. John Oxford

  • "On the negative side there were a few 'minor' things with the property such as some paint peeling in the kitchen, water marks on the ceiling, rail on the veranda not fixed properly to the wall, shower not working properly which have caused us to be disappointed."

The property was listed as a 6 star so we were expecting everything to be great and no problems. The property was also not cleaned properly prior to our arrival with cobwebs everywhere and dust visible under furniture. On the plus side, the house is a really nice size with lots of space to enjoy and the location is fantastic with wonderful views of the river and peaceful village below. Would recommend a walk down to the Fishermans Arms in Golant as the food and welcome are excellent. Just be prepared for a very steep walk back!

Loved the house not much around the area but views were breathtaking, we had a car so not a problem driving around local areas to view the sites x

The property

From its elevated location overlooking the River Fowey in south east Cornwall, this fabulous and contemporary waterside property offers a very special holiday indeed.

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with spectacular river views, there are few more picturesque places to spend a week or two.

Detached and luxurious, this super-stylish Scandinavian-inspired house has the wow-factor from the outset; bold colours, light and bright spaces, and gorgeous views from all the principal rooms.

With all the home comforts you could need, the open plan sitting/dining room with wood-burner offers a great space for family get-togethers and enjoys access to the south-facing decked sun terraced via French doors.

A super-sleek kitchen filled with mod cons leads off from the dining area, from where a utility room provides a handy place for sorting the family's laundry.

Upstairs, all bedrooms boast a balcony; the double aspect master room with a lavish super-king size bed, walk-in dressing room and en-suite bathroom.

The garden at this property offers breathtaking views, with a picnic bench set up high to make the most of the vista, as well as plenty of space for children to play.

The scenic village of Golant offers a peaceful holiday by the water; spend your days messing about on the beach at low tide, walking to Fowey along the banks of the river, paddling upstream in kayaks or canoes, and sampling local fare at waterside inns and restaurants.

Whatever time of the year you decide to visit, a holiday at Lantyan House is one never to be forgotten.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored.
