  • "We booked Dovecote in March 2022 despite an Oct 2021 review saying the oven did not work: Well guess what?"

The oven still doesn't work in June 2022. The cottage is in a beautiful place, but needs a deep clean, and the mattress on the double bed should have been replaced years ago! We didn't expect a welcome pack, but a pint of milk in the fridge would have been nice after driving 200 miles! The owner obviously takes his customers for granted as witnessed by the general maintenance of the site, and the weeds growing out of the step at the back door. Not impressed... !!

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us, first I have heard about the mattress people always comment on how comfortable it is. We have looked at the cooker after both this comment and the one before and guess what it does work. If you read the welcome pack there are instructions in there on how to use the cooker. The garden is constantly looked after grass regularly mowed and only last week I trimmed backed the bushes Property Owner

  • "The shower head desperately needs replacing , main oven did not work ,bedroom radiator did not work but did not spoil holiday apart from the website showed the hot tub was exclusive use for our cottage ."

... did not mention there was 4 other cottages that also had use for the hot tub which was a reason why booked it and with covid did not use the facility

  • "Lovely spot nice cottage and very helpful housekeeper."

Lovely beaches near by, great walks and near to Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project. We would suggest that one kitchen cupboard is left empty to store feed. Every cupboard is filled with crockery. Explanation of where the video player is ( under the stairs) and instructions. We took videos but did not find it for over a week, we assumed it had gone. A little bit more info on listing re dog facilities would be useful, only very small dog safe deck, and no dog safe garden. A gate could be put across the front patio or the garden could be made dog safe. It worked for us as we have a small dog.

  • "No serious issues, but felt property needed updating."

Lighting very poor in both living area and main bedroom. Although a very warm week we were unable to prevent heating coming on - seemed to be linked to water heating.

The cottage was one of the best we have stayed in all you would need and so warm. The place was amazing. Brilliant location for doggy walk. Dodman Point a must and Hemmick beach is a hidden gem. 10 minutes walk to town for chips and shop. Excellent owners so nice and the fry up supplies on arrival an excellent surprise. We all Loved it

  • "Location location location, that's what they say and Dovecote is a classic example."

We arrived way too early but Jayne still found us somewhere to park which allowed us to pull on some boots and follow the coastal footpath into Mevagissey, what a fantastic start to the holiday. We got back to the cottage at 1600hrs to find the best welcome pack ever, enough for a full English including bread and milk. Dovecote was warm and cosy and though there was no bath the shower was superb. We had a lovely break and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family, well done Jayne and thanks again for Dovecote, Steve and Di xx

  • "We had a fantastic break staying at Dovecote Cottage - Gorran Haven."

The Cottage is in a great location for coastal walks and very peaceful during this time of year. The cottage was spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs - the owners put up Christmas decorations and left a couple of bottles of Prosecco under the tree - Thank you very much!!

About the location

Mevagissey 3 miles.

Once a crab fishing village, Gorran Haven on the south coast of Cornwall is ideally placed to explore the many beaches and coves in the area. Gorran Haven has a small sandy beach set behind a traditional sea wall, connecting with the longer Great Perhaver beach at low tide and is popular with families. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is readily accessible from the South West Coast Path that passes through Gorran Haven. Within walking distance are a number of more isolated beaches and the 370 feet high Dodman Point, rising above Gorran, which is thought to be one of Cornwall’s most dramatic headlands, and the cause of many a shipwreck. From its gorse-covered heights there are views across Veryan Bay to the west and Vault Beach to the east. Alternatively, you may wish to walk the coastal path to the harbour village of Mevagissey. Near Gorran Haven, in a beautiful setting of woodland, stream and pasture, is Caerhays Castle, an informal 60-acre garden on the coast near Porthluney Cove. Nearby attractions are the wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project, Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the cathedral town of Truro, with an excellent range of quality shopping and dining.
