  • "Lovely Cottage, compact , well equipped, clean with nice decor."

Well placed for exploring the area, especially Heligan and NT in area. I’m not a fan of over the bath showers, but this one worked great, plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Central heating was easy to use and washing machine (hidden in cupboard in bathroom) was useful as we had a wet and windy week. Back door into courtyard was useful for letting the dog out. Plenty of food shopping opportunities as you pass through St Austell , the shop cafe etc on campsite was closed when we were there and its the only shop in reasonable walking distance. Settee was a bit low for my partner.

  • "Liked the location."

Reasonably quiet. Very close to a well run camp site that had good eat in and takeaway food, reasonably priced. The accommodation was sufficient for two people. For a family of four it would be extremely cramped. At the back of the property there is a small common area that is overgrown, due to a massive buddleia that's hasn't been cut back for a number of years. The remaining area is un kept and is surround by a cobble path. Not particularly child friendly. This area only gets the sun at the early part of the day. The main seating/patio area is at the front of the property, which is completely on view. Facing a small road and the main walkway to the public path. Great if you like being on view. Main downside is the property heating is regulated and it feels damp. The property management agent failed to give us feedback when the only toilet in the accommodation was leaking. .

  • "Lovely, comfortable property."

Log burner kept us cosy in the evenings; walking distance to 3 beaches & via the coastal path to local villages. Great facilities & well-equipped kitchen and the local Megavissey coffee, Cornish tea & biscuits left for us were delicious. Great find & would recommend. The extra precautions taken to be Covid compliant were thorough & good to see.

  • "Vault Cottage is a very comfortable and cosy cottage and an excellent base for exploring south and north Cornwall."

The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday, we especially appreciated the gin glasses! It is situated in a very quite and peaceful location - very restful.

  • "Really lovely cottage, very well presented and equipped."

Quiet environment but close to pretty villages and tourist centres. Good safe beaches nearby. Only problem were the sofas whose webbing had worn and so were uncomfortable to sit on and get out of. A tiny dishwasher squeezed in somewhere would be good to complete a very good holiday let.

  • "Great cottage."

Dog friendly but not every dog owner picked up dog poo in the enclosed garden area.

  • "A well equipped and well furnished cottage within walking distance of Gorran Haven beach and village where there is a shop, tea rooms etc."

A short drive from the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan (where there is an excellent farm shop with local and speciality produce). The cottage seems to be recently renovated with a modern bathroom and comfortable and pretty bedrooms and the kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook. Convenient parking for one car. The campsite next door welcomes non-residents in their friendly cafe for good afternoon tea/brunches etc. We appreciated the welcoming pack of milk, coffee, tea and cornish biscuits.

  • "My mum and I stayed there over Christmas and it was absolutely gorgeous."

It was lovely and warm and very well equipped. In fact it was one of the best equipped cottages I have stayed in. The only thing I would say and it is not a criticism the sofas are a bit worn and will need replacing soon and the tv flickers quite a bit. That being said I would highly recommend this gem of a cottage to friends and family it’s cosy, clean and it’s like being home from home. Thank you Michele

  • "Clean and cosy cottage near to lovely fishing villages."

Great walks along coast. Very convenient for Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. Beware SatNav’s insistence on sending you down single track lanes when main road is just as quick and much easier driving.

  • "Vault cottage is in a great location for lots of wonderful walks."

You only have to walk minutes for some amazing views. The cottage was great, the log burner made it really cozy and the kitchen was well equipped. The hot water does run out quickly but once we’d found the boost button we were fine. It’s very dog friendly, ours had a brilliant time! There’s a little shared garden that’s really useful and you can walk to several great dog friendly beaches.

Bed would have been more comfortable with a memory foam bed topper instead of the feather topper.

  • "We had a wonderful time at 2 Vault cottage, yes the beach is a bit more than a 10 min walk but who cares you are on holiday, it's a great base for travelling or just staying local, comfortable and clean, the dvds are a good extra to relax after a day on the beach or shopping."

Didnt use the campsite cafe/restaurant but from what we saw looked good though. Loved the coffee, need that in the morning. The only down side was the poor weather on the first few days but Sykescottages can't do anything about that,

Only disappointment was that beaches are not 10 mins walk away (as advertised). It took at least 25 -30 mins!

Our only feedback is there was no hand soap in the kitchen or bathroom. Other than that the cottage was fantastic. We also had beautiful weather. Thank you.

  • "Lovely cottage in a wonderful setting."

Little things let the cottage itself do nw though - Shame there weren’t simple condiments such as salt, pepper and sugar as there usually is in such cottages. Never enough hot water - had to put it on for a couple of hours in the morning and that was only enough for 2 very quick showers which was a shame as there were 4 of us. On plus side, cottage warmed quickly, was very comfortable and was in a great area.

  • "We were pleased with this holiday home, with its upside down layout and warm, cosy feel."

it was well equipped and clean. Its dog friendly, there is a enclosed courtyard and nearby walks. It was very quiet in the deep off season - January - which suited our needs perfectly - I'm sure it will be much busier later in the year. Nearby Mevagissey was a good destination for food and drinks, plus we got to Heligan Gardens, also close by.

About the location

Mevagissey 3 miles.

Once a crab fishing village, Gorran Haven on the south coast of Cornwall is ideally placed to explore the many beaches and coves in the area. Gorran Haven has a small sandy beach set behind a traditional sea wall, connecting with the longer Great Perhaver beach at low tide and is popular with families. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is readily accessible from the South West Coast Path that passes through Gorran Haven. Within walking distance are a number of more isolated beaches and the 370 feet high Dodman Point, rising above Gorran, which is thought to be one of Cornwall’s most dramatic headlands, and the cause of many a shipwreck. From its gorse-covered heights there are views across Veryan Bay to the west and Vault Beach to the east. Alternatively, you may wish to walk the coastal path to the harbour village of Mevagissey. Near Gorran Haven, in a beautiful setting of woodland, stream and pasture, is Caerhays Castle, an informal 60-acre garden on the coast near Porthluney Cove. Nearby attractions are the wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project, Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the cathedral town of Truro, with an excellent range of quality shopping and dining.
