  • "A wonderful property."

Very well equipped. Quiet and peaceful location but just 5 minutes from the beach and shops. The table tennis in the garage was an added bonus. The huge posters on the walls were lovely, bringing the beach into the house! A couple of minor niggles- 1.I booked online through John Bray but received all communication from Sykes with no explanation that they were handling bookings. Was then concerned when I couldn’t find the property on Sykes’ website. 2. Couldn’t bag up all the laundry as not enough bags provided. Initially had no idea what we were supposed to bag up in- a picture or brief description would have been helpful. We loved the place and would have stayed longer if it had been possible.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay at Beaches and had the perfect base to take advantage of the local area from. Our apologies that you were not made aware of the acquisition of John Bray Cornish Holidays by Sykes Cottages and that there was not sufficient laundry bags at disposal for you to use. We are glad that you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "It was our third returning year to beaches and decades of hiring from John Bray."

We have been pleased with their quick response to problems and were perturbed that the problem we had with bedding resulted in a phone call to Sykes 24 hour number that put us through to the empty John Bray office. We found a 24 hour John Bray number in the owner brochure.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry you had to experience this whilst on holiday. It was an uncommon instance and we will do better next time. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner Property Owner

The property

Beaches is a delightful holiday home, tucked away in a peaceful, residential area on the outskirts of the pint-sized village of Polzeath, in Cornwall.

Boasting a contemporary interior, featuring a welcoming, bright, and airy décor, and benefiting from close proximity to the glorious sands of Polzeath beach, Beaches makes the perfect base for a family or group of friends, looking to retreat to the coast of Cornwall.

A spacious driveway greets you at the foot of this lovely dwelling, providing off-road parking for up to three cars, making loading and unloading an easy task.

Following a day at the beach, make use of the handy outdoor shower to rinse off your sandy toes, before climbing the external staircase to enter on the first floor.

Be charmed by the open-plan living space, uniquely decorated with wooden-clad walls, and featuring an effortless blend of contemporary and traditional fittings and furnishings; a truly lovely spot to enjoy time with your loved ones throughout your staycation.

Venture over to the well-equipped kitchen, stylishly adorned with gleaming white cupboards, where you can find all the essentials to assist with your self-catering needs, including an electric oven and hob, and even a handy dishwasher to help keep your space neat and tidy.

Utilise the fantastic facilities to prepare a heart-warming meal before gathering together at the nearby dining table to indulge.

If you're travelling in the warmer months, take your dining experience outdoors with a social seat on the patio, enveloped in the greenery of the garden, and soak in the last of the evening sun whilst the little ones keep themselves entertained in the games room.

As the evening grows darker, venture back indoors and prepare for bed with an indulgent soak amongst the bubbles in the family bathroom, or descend the stairs to the ground floor to discover the shower room, perfect for a quick rinse.

When sleep calls, you're spoilt for choice between three well-presented bedrooms, a super-king-size, with access to its own en-suite, a double and a twin, each beautifully-appointed with a splash of nautical blue as a nod to the nearby coastline.

Follow the charming woodland footpath directly opposite your abode and take the short stroll into the heart of Polzeath, where you'll find a host of attractions to keep the whole family entertained, including a tennis court, a pitch and putt course, and Polzeath Marine Centre.

Take a break from doing the cooking and indulge in a bite to eat at one of the many eateries that decorates the village, with the choice between quaint cafes, traditional pub grub and elegant beachfront cuisine, or if that's not your thing, pick up some ingredients and prepare some tasty treats from the comfort of your holiday home.

Pack up your bucket and spade and head to the Blue Flag award-winning Polzeath beach, a lovely spot to feel the sand between your toes as you bask in the summer sunshine, or for a more thrilling experience, venture south along the coast to try your hand at sailing or waterskiing at Rock beach.

From here, catch the ferry and journey across the water to Padstow, where you'll find the Camel Trail, a disused railway line linking to the town of Wadebridge, a popular route with both walkers and cyclists alike.

Lace up your walking boots and embark on a two-footed adventure, following the South West Coast Path north alongside the dramatic Cornish coastline, where you can soak in some of the best scenery in the country before reaching the picture-perfect harbour town of Port Isaac, famed as the backdrop for popular television drama, Doc Martin.

Choose Beaches as your base for your next Cornish adventure.

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
