"I felt very fortunate to find this property."
It is delightful: quiet but conveniently near main roads. I really enjoyed my stay. This is a lovely part of Cornwall.
"This was a great place to relax."
Gill was always on hand and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
"Lovely cottage, peaceful setting, highly recommend!"
"If you are looking for peace and quiet far from traffic noise then this cottage is perfect."
The property is secluded yet only half and hour from, Falmouth, The Lizard, Penzance, 40 minutes from St Ives and just under an hour from Land's End. The accommodation is well thought out and very comfortable and the proprietors are friendly and most welcoming. Loved our stay there. One word of warning, Cornwall has some very small roads and the drive to Dovecote in particular is narrow.
"The property when I booked it stated the cottage was in Gweek."
When the full location was available the post code was Wendron 2 1/2 miles out of Gweek. I feel this was misleading.
"The bathroom is quite tiny (suited us, but may cause problems for larger folk!"
) The bed was extremely comfortable. The owners are very friendly, approachable and helpful. The cottage is in stunning countryside, approached by narrow lanes - part of the appeal of Cornwall, but may not be for those who are not confident drivers or who hate reversing! Centrally located to visit lots of the surrounding villages, beaches and gardens.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback which the owner has taken on board. Some changes are planned for the end of the season in readiness for 2022 Property Owner
"Dovecote was really lovely place."
So quiet and peaceful Just what we needed. The owners were lovely too we hope to rebook
"We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the location."
Beautiful surrounding scenery. A prime location for places like Helston, Porthleven and various beaches. The host Jill and her son Carl were very friendly and to hand if you needed anything and made us feel at ease. We felt very welcomed. So kind and thoughtful. We arrived to a cream tea and milk, in the cottage. Dovecote was perfect for two. We loved the super king sized bed. Would definitely book this cottage again in the future.
"Excellent and comfortable cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location."
Very friendly and helpful family. Lovely holiday.
"Had a very enjoyable week at Dovecote."
The owner Jill and her son Carl were very hospitable and friendly. A delicious cream tea awaited us on arrival and the cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. It is situated in a pretty rural setting but was perfectly placed to enjoy the attractions nearby. Thoroughly recommended.
"Very much enjoyed our week in dovecote cottage."
The owner and her son made us feel very welcome indeed. Very quiet and serene in the garden. Several fantastic places to visit nearby such as Helford, Kynance Cove and Gweek. Though small, the cottage was everything we hoped, clean, warm and cosy. Kitchen well equipped for self catering and fridge freezer was large. A tremendous week, helped by being the first week out of lockdown and fine weather. We intend to return.
"Just to say we could not find anything wrong with the cottage, location, or owners who where so friendly & helpful,"
"The owner was really nice and helpful couldn't do enough for us and the cottage was really nice and had a lovely view"
"Peaceful tranquil setting, perfect for a safe holiday, cottage ideal for 2 people with all amenities for self catering."
Ideal area for exploring Cornwall all within easy reach. Host very accommodating & respected our privacy.

"What a wonderful experience."
The cottage is set in a lovely setting and central for all days out. Grounds are imaculate and the owners so happy to assist on all matters. Would go again and certainly recommend to friends and family.
"Great Hosts, could not have been more helpful."
Lovely peaceful setting
"Host was lovely & the cottage we stayed in was beautifully kept."
Clean & comfortable & well located for visiting lots of different places. We walked miles each day & saw such stunning countryside including a very special beach accessed only by climbing down vertical cliffs.
"The cottage was simply beautiful with everything we needed."
The cream tea on arrival was a great start to the holiday and made us feel very special. It was so peaceful and calm. A truly relaxing holiday.
"We were looking for a quite restfull holiday in Cornwall , Taking in some of the small coves that we have been unable to visit whilst we have been sailing on this great coast line and exploring the interior , which we found Dovecote perfectly placed."
Which serpassed our expectations as for Jill the owner we would be most pleased to call her a friend and will look forwards to staying with her again next year. In truth we really couldn't fault our holiday in total and Thank you all for a great holiday it made one hell of a change from Sailing . Yours and Best Regards ------ Jan & Gordon Knott ( Most Pleased)
"The cottage was down some very narrow lanes."
There was no private area outside to sit. The shower room was very cramped and overall the cottage is not one that I would revisit or recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, we're sorry to hear this property did not suit you. We agree that the shower room at Dovecote is small and have amended the text accordingly. We also agree that the property is located down some narrow lanes, these types of lanes are a characteristic of Cornwall. We hope to see you again. Property Owner
"We had a lovely time at this delightful little cottage."
Just right for two people, with a super comfortable bed. A tranquil and peaceful location in rural Cornwall.
"The cottage is in a stunning location so peaceful and quiet the owners are very welcoming and so is their dog."
"We knew there would be a garden to enjoy at Dovecote but we didn't realise there would be a breathtaking view as well."
Dovecote is well placed for visiting nearby gardens as well as the coast. Gill and Carl made us feel completely at home, we will definately return, thank you for a lovely week.
"The cottage was clean, cosy and very comfortable."
The owners were friendly and welcoming, but also respectful of my privacy. The cottage was ideally placed to explore the Falmouth and Truro areas, whilst being close enough to visit the South of the peninsula also.
"When planning this Cornwall break earlier in 2018, we were looking for somewhere suitable for a couple, not over-expensive, and not located in a busy locality."
Dovecote ticked all the boxes. It had all the facilities described on the website. On arrival, our host - Gill - had provided scones and clotted cream! Delicious! The German Shepherd, Rhinny, is a big softy, and just wanted to play all the time. Dovecote lies at the end of a very narrow lane - but as with all Cornwall lanes, if you take care and don't approach bends too fast, there's no problem with meeting vehicles in the opposite direction - passing places. Dovecote is the Annex to the main cottages (another at the far end is also a holiday let) but we hardly saw the other occupants. Supermarket shopping in Helston - Sainsburys, Tesco, and Lidl are easily accessible. Dovecote is an excellent base for visiting the coast across the south of Cornwall, and we even ventured three times beyond Bodmin, close to Plymouth on one occasion and to Tintagel on another (round trips of over 100 miles). But accessing the A30 through Redruth made for easy travel, although we acknowledge that during high season, travel to and round Cornwall might be more difficult. In summary, Dovecote provided an excellent - and very comfortable (nice king-size bed) - for our exploration of Cornwall and its National Trust and English Heritage treasures. RECOMMENDED!
"Fantastic place to stay"
"A beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings; it felt like a little dream home!"
We had a really nice week away and everything we needed was at hand. The host was also very welcoming. We are both dog lovers so we were fine, but our only suggestion would be to put a disclaimer on the site that you have very friendly dog that is free-roaming as some people may not be familiar with dogs or aware that he is there on their arrival. Thank you again for your stay!
We have a very friendly dog called Rinny, who has the freedom of the garden when we are with him, we live on site and will always check with our visitors on arrival that they are ok with our dog. Rinny is not left to roam the garden unattended and if we are out Rinny is put away. Property Owner
"We had a very enjoyable quiet relaxing time the landlady and landlord were a very nice couple the only complaint we had was the lanes in one part was a very large pot hole and we ended up with a £200 bill for a new front tyre an other couple staying at the same time also had the same problem apart from that it was great ."
"Our holiday was truly wonderful all you all we hoped for the cottage was ..."

About the location
Porthleven 3 miles; Falmouth 12 miles; Penzance 14 miles.
Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for its Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nearby is the Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west and which tells of the widespread mining heritage of this area. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family.
Note: There are narrow lanes leading towards the property.
