The sun shone and the local restaurants and facilities were amazing!! Just a couple of points - the maximum parking on the quays was 24 hours; you couldn't buy a weekly ticket. Also, the shower was a little weak....but I suspect that is normal! Thank you for a fabulous break - we will be back!

  • "Overall this was a very good property in a fantastic location."

The property is well equipped and as advertised. The only downside which is likely to impact most of the properties in Mousehole is the parking. It was terrible at times. In the end the best car part was next to the pub but this was very expensive. Double the price of the harbour side one. Unfortunately that is the reality of picking a property in this location. The charm of the village, scenery, good restaurants make up for the parking situation.

Wonderful bright and comfortable living space with everything we needed. Not so perfect that you couldn't come in with muddy boots, but homely and cosy in the autumn gales.

The owners obviously care about the comfort of their guests and, unusually I find, have responded to the concerns of previous guests by rectifying any problems. Parking can be difficult in Mousehole but this is made clear in the property description.

  • "Cottage is beautiful and has everything you need for a great holiday, the only issue we had was the parking, details of the property are slightly misleading, as stated parking but this is in the harbour car park, which is public and you pay for, it is very close to the property but on 2 evenings, we could not get a space, it is also very narrow, if you are not a confident driver you would not want to park in the lower part of the car park alternative parking."

Few minutes further away but double the price

Hello, we do not advertise the cottage with parking, but do indeed suggest parking in the Harbourside car park. Unfortunately as this is public this is not guaranteed. Best Wishes, Cornish Cottage Holidays. Property Owner

Extremely well equipped kitchen. Beds super comfy, with good quality bedding. It would have been useful to have another TV in the cottage. Fantastic location to harbour. Parking was a bit of a pain, but we managed to find a space in the car park each day, but imagine may be difficult in high season. We would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing mini break.

  • "The Net Loft was such a wonderful retreat for over New Year."

It was a lovely place to rest and relax. It was incredibly clean and had everything needed for a week’s stay. The bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the living space is upstairs. The kitchen, lounge and dining area is all open plan and this worked really well. There is lots of natural light upstairs in the morning which was great to sit with the windows open and have a coffee while waking up. The location of The Net Loft is fantastic for exploring Mousehole. It’s literally just off the harbour front. Just remember to factor in the cost of car parking to your holiday. Mousehole is a little harbour town so isn’t made for lots of cars. We parked up at the car park next to The Old Coastguard which cost £63 for a week. This wasn’t an issue for us as we’d seen this before we’d booked it but just so others are aware too.

  • "The Net Loft is lovely and the owner left us well equipped with supplies - which is unusual."

Location is good although the view from the bedroom window is pretty depressing. Our criticism would be the beds. The double is small and not appropriate for two fully grown adults. The single beds are fine for children but again not that comfortable for adults. The mattresses are painfully thin and really not up to the job. Apart from that for two people it is a good space and well equipped. Put four people in there and certainly from a sleeping point of view it would not be ideal. It might be wise to warn people about parking costs. Quite rightly the owner said we could park on the Quay for £3 a day. Absolutely correct - except that there was never any spare spaces there. Like many small towns, Mousehole is overrun with people and cars. And the reason we suspect that the Quay is so popular is because the other spacious car park charges £9 a day for 24 hour parking and you could only access through using a phone app to pay the charge. This worked fine for us -but not everyone is going to have that facility - that's £63 for a week!

  • "The net loft was one of the best accommodations we have stayed in during our 5 week holiday in Cornwall."

Cozy and warm on a cold day and a a wonderful breeze running through out on a warm day . A fully equipped kitchen which is a rarity. Perfect location close to hole foods and their wonderful paella and 2 four street ( make your booking early).Drinks at the coastguard in the afternoon. Tea at the rock pool. The walk from mousehole to Lemorna is not to be missed . In Newlyn the Tolcarne inn and Argoe are London standard food . I would definitely stay at the net loft again.

  • "It is lovely accommodation, airy, stylish, clean."

The space works well with living upstairs and bedrooms / bathroom downstairs. We had a problem opening sky lights when it was really hot but someone came to assist us within a couple of hours, even though it was the evening. Very loud seagulls in the early morning and no outside space are the only reasons this doesn’t get full marks. Really loved our stay.

  • "The Net Loft was a lovey comfortable apartment, that suited our family well."

It had everything we needed. Mousehole is a beautiful little harbour village and was a great base to explore Cornwall from. I would always advise using the coast road to come and go from Mousehole, as the roads above are small and always resulted in multiple cars trying to pass each other on very skinny roads. For those that like to run, I would recommend running along the coast to and from Penzance as it is stunning.

  • "Just few things that could improve on the experience 1."

More tea towels than just 1 for the week . This is not hygienic for a weeks stay. I would expect at least 3-4 2. The property needs a hand rail for going up and down stairs , the stairs are quite steep 3 The dishwasher did not work despite following the instructions given in the joining instructions booklet 4. There is a fan in the kitchen and it continually flaps and creates a constant noise . This is particularly loud at night when one is trying to sleep

  • "This accommodation feels more like an apartment than a cottage."

It is rated with 4 ticks but in my opinion does not deserve more than 3. The bathroom and kitchen whilst adequate are very old and need updating. The sofas are marked as they are light blue in colour. Only 4 dish washer tablets and 2 toilet roll rolls were provided. This is just petty. What was good about the apartment is that it is in a really lovely village with a nice restaurant and pub. I can imagine that there is a real issue with parking in the summer though.

Thank you for your feedback.  You are correct, a traditional net loft is far more similar to an apartment than a cottage.  I can understand the confusion when you book through a website called “Cornish Cottage Holidays”!  The kitchen and bathroom were refurbished two years ago - again, this was done in a very traditional style as can be seen on the website.  Our apologies for the marks on the sofas - this was caused by the previous guests, but we are intending to replace the covers for darker ones (thank you for your suggestion).  Thank you also for your observation around household goods, we endeavour to provide enough to make your stay comfortable and will provide more in future. I’m glad you enjoyed the excellent restaurants and pubs. There are actually three quite large car parks in Mousehole - the closest is around 100 yards from the Net Loft. Property Owner

Soap in the bathroom and loo basins would have been appreciated - it was the only thing we had to go out and buy. A few more mugs (5 provided for 4 people is fine unless you wish to use the dishwasher!). It was very nice to have tea bags, milk and some good biscuits on the side when we arrived as well as a beautiful vase of roses. The mattress in the single bedroom to the left of the entrance was not very comfortable and could do with renewing.

The property

This charming converted Net Loft nestles in the centre of the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole, one of Cornwall's hidden gems, famous for its Christmas lights, with views from the harbour across Mount's Bay to St Michael's Mount.

Conveniently located in its heart this once modest net loft situated above the old village bark house (where nets were treated), has been transformed into an enchanting holiday home.

The property itself is set over two floors and is accessed via granite steps leading to the first floor level.

The interior design cleverly reflects the centuries old tradition of life bound up with the sea and has immense appeal.

Comfortably furnished and well equipped, open beams and exposed granite walls add to its character.

There are three stylish bedrooms and a pristine family bathroom on the ground floor.

Upstairs is the versatile open plan living room with a kitchen and dining area featuring a lofty ceiling with exposed beams and velux windows to make it extremely light and airy.

Reversed style accommodation affords a view of the harbour and Mousehole Island.

Although there is no garden, the harbour is only a few steps away where you can sit back and enjoy the colourful scene.

The village fishing heritage dates back to 1266 and the tightly knitted streets and lanes are full of local Lamorna granite built cottages.

Perfect for a stroll to a host of pubs and restaurants, collect some provisions from the excellent delicatessen, or use the property as a base for touring Cornwall with beaches and sheltered coves, some fantastic walking as well as attractions which include Lands End, Flambards Theme Park, numerous National Trust properties and Gardens and the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
