Very clear precise easy to follow instructions. House was immaculate and very comfortable. We met Caroline (housekeeper) who was delightful and proper Cornish. Would we stay here again, 100% we would - we have been coming to Harlyn for over 50 years, it never ever disappoints. Thankyou to Beverly for sharing your amazing place.

Thank you Hayley, it is always wonderful to hear that our guests enjoy Harlyn and our cottage as much as we do Property Owner

Location is perfect, so close to the beach for morning swims and to the coast path for incredible walks. We enjoyed walking to Padstow in one direction and to Porthcothan in the other in amazing weather, this area never disappoints. Beverly and the lovely lady who looks after the property so well were readily available for a very minor issue which was resolved almost immediately. We would love to come back again and would definitely recommend.

  • "A lovely holiday rental for a small family within a few minutes walk to Harlyn Beach."

It has the added bonus of a warm outdoor shower to rinse off after spending time in the sea. Pretty back garden with seating, although the provision of a BBQ would have improved our stay. Super comfy beds and luxurious bed linen enhance the holiday experience. The house has a well equipped kitchen which has ample fridge/freezer capacity which makes for a more restful holiday. Really easy access for exploring North Cornwall, the coast path and the '7 bays'. Thank you Bev for sharing your holiday home, it is lovely to see owners post covid able to provide a rental which provides family games, books, and beach toys for holiday makers to use, this was very evident here, very much a home from home.

Thank you Cris, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately we’ve yet to find a bar b q we can leave outside that doesn’t perish in the salty sea air. Best wishes, Beverly Property Owner

  • "House was in an excellent location to the beach."

The facilities at the house were very good, the outdoor shower was great. The welcome gifts were appreciated especially the dog treats ! The twin bunk room is not suitable for adults as there is no real storage space and no space under the bunk bed to store bag / suitcase making access to the room difficult. The kitchen was well equipped but there were a couple of chipped plates and a cracked mug that need changing. A bath mat for the shower would have been useful as we had my elderly mother with us who is unsteady on her feet. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were of good quality but we found the sofa was uncomfortable, it was quite low and the cushions slid off. The owner needs to be made aware about the conduct of the cleaner / housekeeper. On the day of our departure she called at the property at 8am she was friendly enough initially and asked to leave the clean laundry on the bench outside the property which was fine however she then returned before 9am and hung about the property as did another male with a drill who I assume was the maintenance man. At this time we were starting to load our vehicle but their presence made us feel very uncomfortable and rushed especially my elderly mother who then felt like she couldn’t have breakfast as in her words “ they are wanting us out”. My mother was up in good time before 8am but has to take medication an hour prior to eating so I was just getting her breakfast but the behaviour of the housekeeper made it difficult as she then wouldn’t have anything to eat as she thought we were holding up the cleaner. The departure time is stated as 10am so I would not expect the housekeeper to arrive before then. We had planned to leave the property in good time at 9.45 and the unwelcome presence of the housekeeper and maintenance man with a drill in his hand lingering around outside the front door over an hour before the departure time was not acceptable. My mother said the cleaner kept looking through the lounge window. My mother is eighty years old and the behaviour of the housekeeper and the maintenance man made her quite anxious meaning we loaded our vehicle in a hurry which was not ideal. It was counter productive for the staff to arrive so early and resulted in extra work for the housekeeper as I had only brushed the kitchen floor and not the lounge floor but it felt that uncomfortable that we packed our belongings in a hurry and left before 9.30 without brushing and hoovering the lounge, having a dog with us I’d brushed the floors each day to keep on top of it but wanted to ensure the floors were cleaned prior our departure and had planned for my husband to walk the dog after packing the vehicle leaving me to clean the floors while the dog was out who would have been placed in our vehicle on return. This incident really took the shine off the holiday and the unwanted presence of the housekeeper would be enough to prevent me from rebooking this property which is a real shame. I appreciate all guests may not leave the property as requested on their departure but we would have done so, yet felt like we were being rushed and therefore prevented from doing so due to the housekeepers over zealous attitude which was overbearing. For the comfort and benefit of future guests please make the owner aware as I feel this needs addressed asap. I don’t like to “complain” but it really spoilt what was otherwise an enjoyable week in a lovely holiday house. Thank you Gill Montgomery.

  • "The property to was lovely."

It was clean and tidy and exactly as I had imagined. the distance to the beach was perfect - i.e not very far at all. The only down side was the building work going on. I understood it to be coming to an end and the bulk of it done - which is was but very sadly the last bit being worked on was closest to the property, and from 7.45 until 4pm it was a constant beeping from the moving dumper trucks / jcbs etc as they were going about their work. The workmen were polite and courteous, but on holiday we could have done without the constant noise. However Harlyn Bay and the house itself were perfect.

The house was incredibly clean with everything you could possibly need. Very accessible owner happy to respond to any queries. Lovely welcome pack of tea and biscuits. The only thing that we didn’t have and could have been fun was some board games, but only because we forgot ours! (For rainy days). We will be back. Thank you for a lovely family holiday.

The proximity to the beach made it a fantastic holiday house for both coastal walks and using Harlan Beach. There was extensive building work in front of the house which was a bit of a shame. The outside warm shower and storage boxes were a great bonus and garden was enclosed so good for pets. The sleeping arrangements are more suited for 4 adults and 2 smaller children, as third bedroom is tiny, has no storage and the bunks better for smaller guests than our teens.

Only a stones throw from Harlyn Bay which is the best beach in the area. A perfect base to explore North Cornwall. We took our two dogs who were comfortable and enjoyed the cosy back garden. The outdoor shower and hose meant that we could quickly clean up after the beach. With sand free dogs we were able to relax and quickly allow them back in the house when dry. The only feedback we could think of is that ceiling fans in the bedrooms would have made the hot nights more comfortable. However this would not stop us from recommending this property and from booking it again next year.

comfortable and well provided. It is the midst of beautiful coastal scenery and the beach and coastal path are within a 2 minute walk. We were a bit disappointed with the location in that we weren't aware it was at the back of a car park with no views from the house. Also we were not told that The Harlyn Inn is now closed and is being redeveloped which we would have liked a heads up about as we had had planned to eat there on arrival but instead had to go and do a shop. All of that said it is still a great location once you get out and about as we did.
