  • "It was such a lovely place."

we had a bit of difficulty finding it as the house was part of a holiday 'resort' called Yellow Sands. It would be helpful to have this on the address as their board is at the entrance. Sharmalyn house is also not currently labelled anywhere which made it a bit tricky to find. But such a beautiful spot. would definitely go again.

The property

Set in the hamlet of Harlyn Bay, less than 3 miles from the picturesque riverside town and fishing port of Padstow, is Sharmalyn House.

This spacious but homely house is a short 200 metre stroll along a private footpath to one of the best family beaches in Cornwall.

It is the perfect destination for a well-earned family holiday by the sea.

The four bedrooms offer a combination of sleeping arrangements to suit all.

With two double bedrooms, both of which benefit en-suite facilities, including a twin bedroom.

The bunk room is ideal for the children, everybody will be catered for.

The large open-plan living room with a non-operational feature, slate fireplace, is a comfortable space for all the family to gather and plan the day ahead, or reflect on yet another memorable trip to the beach.

From the patio doors, you can access the private south-facing sun terrace and enjoy relaxed alfresco dining whatever time of day.

With a well-earned reputation as one of the safest beaches in Cornwall, Harlyn Bay is also an ideal place to learn to surf, with one of the surf schools operating from the beach, and there are many rock pools to fascinate the children.

Make the most of the accommodation's close proximity, and come and go as you please throughout your stay.

Not only that, you have the beautiful South West Coast Path and all the amenities at Padstow, which lies at the end of the Camel Trail.

Try surfing, cycling and even a boat trip or two.

Relax and enjoy a varied holiday from this superb holiday home.

About the location

HARLYN, CORNWALL

Padstow 2.5 miles, Constantine 2 miles; Polzeath 15 miles.

Harlyn is a charming little village, with a large crescent shaped sandy beach, safe for swimming, surfing and dog friendly all year round. Harlyn Bay is considered to be one of the best family beaches in Cornwall with a north-facing shore, beckoning surfers to brave the white waves that surge towards golden sands. Connected to the South West Coastal Path and part of the 'Seven Bays for Seven Days' area this is also an ideal location for walkers to explore the beautiful Cornish countryside. Constantine Bay just two miles away offers golf at the Trevose Championship course. Nearby Padstow lies at the head of the Camel Trail along the Camel Estuary and local cycle hire shops enable visitors to enjoy the area easily. Padstow is a delightful fishing port offering ample opportunity to taste locally sourced produce, as well as the award-winning Camel Valley wines, in celebrity owned establishments. Local fisherman's boats offer coastal tours and sea fishing trips, while a passenger ferry takes you across the estuary to Rock with the windsurfing beach of Daymer Bay and golf at the famous St Enedoc course. Just around the corner toward Pentire Head is the surfing paradise at Polzeath, and when the beach no longer calls there are several stately homes and gardens to visit as well as special events at the Cornish County Showground.
