• "We have been coming to Polzeath for over 50years and although the pics make Tide Pod look welcoming and pretty - on closer inspection there is a lot wrong that sadly made this years stay uncomfortable."

  Mould on the curtains, mould in the bathroom, only 3 dining chairs, only 1 sun lounger, dirty cups, food in the freezer, dirty linen on trundle bed, rubbish under the bed, wardrobe hinges had come away, a very tired faded and worn sofa, bedroom window hanging off dangerouly, lack of security with back door not closing sometimes. Sadly only a couple of these points were rectified on our stay - mainly a 4th chair was brought to us within 12 hours. This was a very expensive property for what we received. We were offered a small refund but it did not justify the lack of cleanliness, lack of maintenance and lack of furniture which was in the marketing material. Certainly and sadly not value for money.

• "Lovely holiday and adored Tide Pod."

  The view and the sound of the sea were amazing and your decor in the brochure was actually inspiration for my own home. I was disappointed to have the large overflowing bin slap bang in my view for the first half of the week - it was emptied and moved then which made a massive difference. Could have done with a coat of white paint as well, quite a few rust marks and looked a bit tired from the outside. I also only found the washing machine in the back yard literally as I was leaving. From the inside though it is a little piece of heaven. Feel free to publish the positive parts above - I totally get that the bin thing was not really under your control - thank you for a lovely week, and I hope to be back!

• "Fabulous location and well appointed chalet."

  For those that take some cooking equipment with them (or is that just me?) it is worth noting that the hob is induction. However, the pans provided were brilliant. I'm told that induction hobs can, apparently, be a problem for people fitted with pacemakers so it may be worth mentioning in the propert details. I loved it so much that I've already booked my next visit.

• "A more detailed description about finding the property would be beneficial as the map was not totally clear."

  The fact that there was an unexpected barrier post to the car parking area meant that we walked past the property several times thinking "that can't be it". Once we found the property we expected to find the code to the barrier post, but this was not available. It was only the fact that someone was staying in another property there that we got in at all! (He didn't lock it properly). In the meantime I'd parked the car temporarily in the main car park and now face a £100 parking fine. The code to the post was obtained swiftly by Jan on the Monday. Thanks for that. We had a good stay but tarnished by this simple and costly omission on the access instructions.

• "The location of Tide Pod is hard to beat."

  ..seconds from the beach and a great view whatever the weather! Also only a two minute walk to the shops, restaurants etc. The chalet had lovely décor and was very well equipped. Very comfy bed! Just a couple of niggles to mention - the shower and lounge floor need better cleaning. There was nothing telling us about recycling arrangements so we had to ring the agency. I appreciate it was March but would've still liked a table outside at the front, as per the chalet listing. We would definitely book again and it's a great base from which to explore this part of the Cornish coastline. We ate in a lot of places in Polzeath and loved all of them, great quality of food & good service (The Waterfront, Cracking Crab, Surfside & Oystercatcher).

• "Just a few issues on arrival."

  A little disappointed that the property was not actually ready for my arrival but having said that, when the cleaning lady did come she was very helpful, polite & nothing was too much trouble. Also properties usually provide a little welcome pack ie tea, milk etc, which is a nice touch. Noted nothing as such was provided at Tide Pod. Also, the underfloor heating wasn’t working at first so the maintenance personnel provided me with a heater & eventually after a couple of inspections, got the heating in all rooms working, bar one. Looked a bit unkempt outside at the front of the property, as two pieces of old outside garden furniture was just left. Noted another chair had been put in the communal bin, which was full. Bin collection did not take place all week. Just things, I think which should have been checked beforehand to give the one who’s holidaying at the property a real welcome & great stay. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Tide Pod. Such a lovely little place, situated in a great location & I would definitely like to stay again.

• "Recall the listing states microwave which isn't present."

  Likewise previous review comments on a vacuum cleaner, the fitting for a Dyson is on the wall but it's missing, would be really useful to have had this. Cleaning is not at the standard of previous John Bray cottages, cobwebs across the mirror, mold/ dirt around the shower who h could be wiped away. House is very convenient and worked well for our family.

• "I was surprised not to find a microwave, this would have made our stay at Tide Pod easier."

  Also, I must say that the bathroom really is in need of a little care and attention. The paint is peeling in places and there is clear evidence of mould, which never is acceptable. On the whole a thoroughly good spot to stay and will consider returning next year.

• "This was our second year staying at the Tidepod for the same week."

• "Have been staying here in June for approx."

  12 years and the overall makeover in 2021 is fantastic. John Bray was very prompt to send a maintainance man when requested to solve a problem (nothing serious!) and Housekeeping was very accommodating to replace all our linen/towels half way through our stay. This summer was good that there were more tea towels and a shower mat (outside the cubicle). Loved the Dyson cleansr which made the day to day cleaning less of a chore, Personally, I would love to see a microwave in the property please and hand towels for the kitchen area! Thank you for helping to make our stay in Polzeath enjoyable.

• "A clean and tidy chalet which is perfectly located for the beach and watching the sunset."

  It was a shame there was no welcome pack, no tea towels and no bin bags. The front could do with a lick of paint, removal of random breeze blocks and a general freshen up which is why I haven’t given it 5 stars.

• "Clean, light and modern accommodation - stylish decor, very fitting with location."

  Amazing location - you can watch the sunset into the sea from your patio area and you are so close to the beach and the main Polzeath bars and shops - didn't need my car for the whole week. We will definitely book here again.

• "Although in the description it says under counter fridge, it would have been good to had some additional information as it was very small & would have been good to know that as I could have managed my food ordering better, now that I've been I would know that for a future visit."

• "Having stayed in "TidePod" for several years before the re-furbishment, we were pleasantly surprised how light and spacious it now feels."

  Everything in the property was very good quality and tasteful. The cleaner was very efficient and the place felt very welcoming on arrival. Re. "Comfort" - we found looking at a tv on the wall so close to the seating area rather uncomfortable (we are not use to looking upwards to watch!). It either affected your posture or gave you a cricked neck! Re. "Facilities" - a minor point but we would have loved a microwave which I rely on a lot at home. Having WiFi there for the 1st time was brilliant. Met one of your lovely maintainence guys who readily fixed the toilet seat so that it didn't move. Thank you for agreeing to leave a change of linen and towels for the 2nd week of our stay. Whenever I have phoned your office to talk with an employee before and during our holiday, I found everyone to be extremely patient and helpful. Looking forward to next summer in the same holiday home - love this place .....
