The cottage was warm, cosy and welcoming and had everything we needed. It is in an ideal location for the north Cornish coast and for beautiful Bodmin Moor. We didn't have enough time to visit everywhere we wanted to go to, so I'm sure we'll be back.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer."

Courtyard gave our little dog somewhere to explore that was safe and there was a quiet lane at the back of the cottage to walk him in the morning. Bed was comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. Downstairs gave us everything we needed as a couple, kitchen was well stocked with all we needed. Cream tea waiting for us on arrival was a nice touch. And thankyou to the owner for calling to say the cottage was ready for us before the allotted checkin, made arrival day that little bit easier for us.

Literally a home away from home. Our literal only issue was the hot water. We couldn't for the life of us work out how to run it hot enough for a bath. Cannot wait to return Mrs J!

If i had realised there was no washing machine we would not have taken it there is a dishwasher but there is not enough in the cottage to fill it you could have a smaller dishwasher and put in a washing machine the cottage was clean and we had a welcome pack its near to a lot of places we slept well there is a lot of condensation which is a bit of a pain but dont let me put you off this cottage is brill and we would go back and it was nice if the owner to ring and tell us we could go in early as it was ready for us

  • "Slate cottage was an immaculately clean, lovely, comfortable and cosy home from home."

It had everything we needed for a relaxing week away and was perfectly located in a peaceful setting for visiting both the north and south Cornwall coast lines. There were plenty of delightful local pubs within easy driving distance. We enjoyed the ‘welcome extras’ kindly provided for us and had good communication throughout both with Sykes and the very friendly owners. We would definitely recommend this charming place.

  • "Beautiful property."

Very cosy and welcoming and loved the little extras like the scones and some milk in the fridge. Also loved the biscuits left for the birds and the feeder on the window. Only downside was that we approached the property from Bodmin on the first night and it was dark and down some extremely narrow lanes with no passing places that scared the hell out of us and we weren't looking forward to making the same journey each day. Luckily if you approach the property from the other direction, it was much much better!

  • "A lovely little cottage to stay at."

The only small criticisms were, no recycling facilities, no cupboard room to store food and no information book/folder inside the property. Also, although the property was quite clean, there were lots of spiders and cobwebs that had not been cleaned away that we had to clean ourselves. Overall it was a lovely place to stay though.

  • "A really nice little cottage."

Nicely decorated and equipped. Comfortable, quiet, nothing negative give to say about the place. The only negative comment is about the location. If we can find a cottage in a village within walking distance of a pub and shop then that’s ideal. This cottage is down a one track road which was ok most of the time but we did come up against one of the “neighbours” who decided to show us we were driving far too slowly on “their” road.

  • "Slate cottage is in a lovely quiet location, it’s a beautiful cottage and perfect for couples with dogs."

The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable my only thought would be that maybe it had a now tv box or something similar and a larger tv as we like to go back on a evening and relax and watch a film or series but that is just my personal preference. The location is perfect as it’s lovely and quiet to relax and it’s literally only a 10 min drive from wadebridge. The owner even called to make sure everything was ok and it was it’s perfect. I can’t wait to go again and will recommend this cottage. I’m actually shocked it’s not booked out for the year ahead. If you are looking for a comfy cottage with that rustic feel Then this is the place for you. We hope to book for some time in the future

The country lanes in May were lined with bluebells and other wild flowers. We were made to feel welcome by the owners by telephone before arrival and had a very comfortable bed/bedroom with romantic juliet balcony and overall we had an enjoyable stay finding it to be quiet, warm, clean and relaxing. Views over part of a well maintained quiet farm to the rear and stone building and trees to the front left hand side of the property were pretty aspects to wake up to. We heard birdsong in the morning and even an owl during the night with our balcony french doors ajar to appreciate the fresh country air. We enjoyed a delicious Thai meal at the Tiny Thai in Wadebridge. Thank you to the owners and to the cleaner for accommodating our short notice request - Mark & Barbara from Wales

  • "Delightful little cottage in a wonderful location, just outside Bodmin means the whole of Cornwall is at your disposal."

All the destinations are within easy reach, although tucked away it's only 4 miles to get onto the main highways to go on your adventures. The cottage is ideal for couples, or maybe with a single child, it has everything you need, although be warned elder visitors the double bed is low. For cyclists there is the Camel Trail at the bottom of the hill 1/2 mile away, you can ride all the way into Padstow 18 miles (downhill all the way) depending on your riding level it maybe wise to take the bikes to the trail rather than trying to ride back up the hill to the cottage it is steep. We had a slight issue but Sykes & the owners bent over backwards to get it resolved almost immediately. It's set on a farm which I don't think is working as it is so quiet, there were no tractors buzzing around. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there & will definitely consider going back.

About the location

BODMIN MOOR

Bodmin 7 miles; Launceston 14 miles

The vast and rugged Bodmin Moor, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, forms over 150 square miles of striking, rocky landscape, with much of it declared a Site of Specific Scientific Importance. This ancient location is home to mystical standing stones, old buildings dating from medieval times and thousands of years’ worth of tin mining heritage. There are plenty of beautiful walks to discover, with challenging climbs up some of the tallest spots in Cornwall, offering fantastic far-reaching views towards both the north and south coast on fine days. The nearby town of Launceston, fondly thought of as the Gateway to Cornwall, can be found to the north east, with beautiful Georgian buildings set around its central square, and romantic ruins of a Norman castle at the outskirts. In the other direction, the historic town of Bodmin lies to the south west, with a host of exciting attractions including its Courtroom Experience, the Bodmin Jail, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, or a trip to see each of the seven holy wells, which lie dotted around the town. Ancient Jamaica Inn, which lies in the heart of the moor, brims with smuggling and pirate history; almost 300 years old, it's celebrated in Daphne du Maurier’s popular novel and is well worth a visit. With much to see and do, and stunning scenery all around, Bodmin Moor is a delightful destination for your holiday.
