  • "We enjoyed our stay at the wagon house,it’s a lovely place in the middle of the countryside."

The driveway isn’t as awkward to use as a couple of previous renters have pointed out.You may find the country lanes a little narrow here and there but you just take your time. The property could do with a little tlc and this is being a bit picky ie windows need a clean, dirty dinner knife left outside on a bedroom window ledge and the patio and outside paving need a good jet wash.Would we stay here again?Yes!!

Good morning Lee, Thank you for your feedback. We do jet wash the patio in the Spring. As you will appreciate, The Wagon House has been fully occupied since May and there are some jobs (eg window cleaning) that require a bit longer than a Saturday changeover. Thank you for your positive feedback and we’ll get those items done shortly. Glad you’d stay again. Best wishes, David and Cathy Property Owner

  • "Nice clean property, The living area was quite small, it would be tight fit for 6 people and the parking area was tight for our medium sized SUV and very hard getting it on the drive without scraping the sides."

Although dogs are allowed, they are not welcome as the instructions state that dogs are not to foul in the back yard even if cleaned up and there is nowhere else on the property they can go toilet. Other than that the property was well equipped with lovely views.

Good afternoon Julia Thank you for your review. The parking does require reversing and we do recommend someone helps by watching at the back. However we do not receive this comment often so it must very much be about driver confidence and having a lookout person. In respect of dogs, we welcome dogs as within a minute of walking from the front door you are on farm tracks and it is easy to look after a dog’s needs. I think we have to appreciate that children and families come to the property. Some without dogs. We don’t feel that allowing dog poo in the backyard would be fair to everyone. We have found that sometimes, what makes it worse is when dog poo isn’t spotted. Therefore, l hope you can appreciate our concern for all our guests. We’re delighted you enjoyed staying at The Wagon House. Best wishes, David and Cathy Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous time at this super peaceful haven."

Be well prepared if you are self catering as the nearest “big” Tesco’s is seven miles away and we didn’t find much in the way of convenience stores. The driveway as mentioned by others is tricky. We had two SUV’s and you are asked to reverse down the long winding path so as not to annoy the neighbour by using his space, ( fair enough) but this was tricky. Luckily our daughter nailed the manoeuvre of reversing out of the gates and up to the wall, a sort of five point turn, but it is difficult and not for the nervous driver! Only other comment is that if four or more people are staying you are constantly washing china as there isn’t really enough to go more than one meal. Overall though we would thoroughly recommend, really enjoyed this part of Cornwall.

Good morning Janice. Thank you for your feedback and we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay. All the points you make are relevant. On the plates/cups etc. We provide enough matching china for 6-8 and the occupation max is 6. We will look to provide some more. I’m glad to hear your daughter managed the reversal out of the drive using the opportunity to turn the car around. It is a little tricky the first time. We always have the passenger stand at the back to assist stopping distances. Part of the pleasure of The Wagon House is how quiet the area is which you stated you enjoyed. Yes, it is a shame there isn’t a shop nearer but once you get your bearings we hope you agree that being in a beautiful country setting is worth it. Thanks again for your very positive review. • "This was a good base to visit 4 different groups of relatives and friends, stretching from Newquay, Okehampton to Northam and visit Eden."

It provided spacious accommodation for two of us and small dog and was value for money. Left some helpful comments in guest book, watered the wall mounted planters outside. The comments from another reviewer about dogs and clearing up mess are a fair reflection of reality. You are not to allow dog to poop in the garden which is all gravel, which is stated in the guest book on arrival with explanation. Of course, one would not expect the cleaning team to pick up poop, but even bagged poop is not allowed in the waste contractors bins, which had not been cleared for two or more weeks currently. The same reviewer also stated reality of access over Sycamore Farm's own drive to the cottage. The sign for Wagon House is small and attached to telegraph pole which is not owned by Sycamore Farm, as a sign can not be put onto or into the land that forms the track to Sycamore Farm. The parking pictures are taken with a wide angle lens, and we had to reverse out or in, if you are a party of two to six with dog and luggage, with car to reflect needs you will need to reverse. The parking bay is OK - if you are - Big Ears and Noddy visiting in Noddy car, or a Mini, Smart car.

Good afternoon Paul Thank you for your feedback and taking time to water the plants. We’re delighted you found The Wagon House good value. Your 2 points are difficult to address. We cannot accept dog mess in the garden or patio area. Families stay at the property. In respect of parking, there is plenty of room for a full size family car. Yes you do have to reverse out but it isn’t a difficult manoeuvre. In three years of The property being available for holidays, there have been no problems. Thank you for comments. The bedrooms are gorgeous and, whilst we were very lucky with the weather and didn’t need it, the HUGE burner looked very inviting and imagine many a night spent dozing in front of that! Lovely owners and spotlessly clean! The garden was secluded with shrubs and flowers and lots of birds come in to feed (buy a big bag of seeds/suet balls to leave it stocked up for the next people to enjoy). Very quiet little village with plenty of access to local walls or short drives to both inland and coastal walks. Amazing property, lovely people, lovely location and we’re booking again for later in the year already! Thankyou for a lovely holiday!

Thank you for your very positive comments. We work hard to provide an ‘amazing property’ - as you kindly say. Thank you so much. We look forward to welcoming you back. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "Excellent stay at The Wagon."

Clean and tidy on arrival. Kitchen is well stocked, nice to see washing powder, dishwasher tablets etc. Bedrooms nice and big, although the bunk bed room is rather small, but the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers/baths. Lounge nice and spacious but seating very uncomfortable after about half an hour and one settee doesn't face the TV. Can't see the point of allowing dogs as they don't seem to be catered for. You are not allowed to let your dog mess in the garden, they are not allowed in the garden whilst the birds are feeding and there are no waste bins for dogs so you have to dispose of elsewhere, so this put a dampener on the holiday a bit. Be aware that the neighbour's, on our arrival put a sign up stating 'Private, No turning' (quite within there rights), so you either have to reverse in or out of the driveway which is roughly 50-75 yards, so be aware especially if reversing is not your strong point.

Thank you for your feedback. Although we welcome dogs, the primary intent is for all guests to have a lovely and relaxed holiday. Our cleaning team should not be asked to clean up dog mess. This would be unreasonable. The furniture has all been chosen to give a high level of comfort Please note there is ample space to turn your car around at the property without reversing 75 yards as suggested in this review. Thanks again for staying with us. Property Owner

  • "Wagon House is lovely barn conversion with tasteful decor."

It’s clean, comfortable and well equipped. Situated in a quiet location, even though there are neighbouring properties and a farm and it’s very central for exploring the local area. The ‘adult bunk room’ is tiny and had a child-sized duvet which meant my teenager’s feet stuck out the bottom end - luckily the weather was fairly warm when we stayed! The WiFi is excellent and the new smart TV is great for watching a movie on a stormy afternoon /evening.

Good afternoon Julia, Thanks for your really positive feedback. We've taken on board your feedback and changed the duvets to larger adult sized duvets. Many thanks again. Best wishes, Cathy and David Property Owner

There were a few minor things on our arrival that were broken which we have informed them about. It was clean and tidy and had a real touch of 'class' about it. Very well placed for exploring both coasts and everything in between! If you have not visited Shaugh Bridge on Dartmoor, it's well worth it. Make sure you wear walking boots as it's very hilly and uneven under foot.

Perfect base for a good holiday around North Cornwall. Close enough to get to good beaches like Widemouth Bay but out of the way enough to feel like you’re properly in the country. Only thing I would say is don’t always trust Google Maps as it takes you down single track roads which can be a bit daunting when a tractor is coming the opposite way

The messanine bedroom is up some very narrow wooden stairs so not for the faint hearted. They also need a curtain or blind at the window as the property opposite have a clear view of room and their occupants. There were a few hiccups with items that were broken or not working we left a list for the owner as these things were not of our causing. It is in a reasonable position for travelling which was great. We were blessed with great weather. It well worth a stay

Thank you for your comments Elaine. We have addressed all the minor updates in our week here carrying out the routine maintenance schedule to maintain an excellent level of service at The Wagon House. In respect of the Mezzanine, this is not included in the accommodation of up to 6 in the 3 ground floor bedrooms listed on Sykes website - this makes it 7!. It is not a bedroom and Sykes won't let us market it as such. It just adds flexibility. We will alter the customer details to state that the staircase to the mezzanine is narrow and that only able adults should use it. A stair gate is provided to enable parents to restrict access for young children. Thank you again, David. Property Owner

Everything about the place exceeded our expectations and the cream tea left for us on arrival was a lovely touch. The only complaint we had was the lounge TV... a nightmare to figure out and when we did BBC Stations kept dropping off. our favourite places were Boscastle, Bude and Tintagel, beware of your Sat Nav as ours kept taking us through very narrow lanes !!!! • "Firstly I must say that we had a fabulous stay in a fabulous accommodation."

There were just two things that I feel the need to comment on. The first thing was when we arrived there was nearly 2 weeks worth of recycling opposite the front door. Whilst papers and plastics were neat the glass was overflowing with bottles. When we read the welcome book I found a note saying that we must take the recycling down the hill as it wasn’t fair on the housekeeper and the next guests would appreciate it!!! Failure to do so could incur a £20 cost. Needless to say I was furious. My 80 year old husband took it down but I found the note to be offensive. The second thing was the tv in the lounge needed some sort of degree to operate. Also a sky box sits on the floor with cables that look like spaghetti junction hanging out. This was really surprising as the whole of the property apart from this is neatly finished with every attention to detail met

Just to note for other wheelchair users there is step into the property, which I was fully aware of when booking. We had a lot of fun using the table tennis table.
