  • "Evergreen is an absolutely stunning cottage in a beautiful and quiet location."

Great for coastal and dog walks. Loads of fantastic places to eat or buy fish in Newlyn to cook up a real treat. The house is well equipped and beautifully styled with lots of home comforts.

Alistair, Thank you so much for your lovely kind words, I’m so pleased you had a wonderful restful break and perhaps one day you will return. Many thanks Brigitte Property Owner

Rinsey Cove is a very much a scramble to get down but very beautiful and Praa is also lovely just under 20 min walk to the beach and then further to the lifeguard zone. The cottage is quirky and comfortable and has everything you need for a lovely holiday.

Welcoming gifts were really appreciated. We loved our stay. The main bathroom could do with a standing shower or shower plinth but aside this small issue, it’s a very good property.

Thank you so much for your comments, we agree a shower in the main bathroom would be excellent unfortunately there is not the headroom for one. I hope you enjoyed using the ground floor one though. Property Owner

  • "We just had a wonderful week staying at ‘Evergreen’."

A short drive from the main road, brings you to a small Hamlet. The cottage looks ‘picture postcard’ and sits proudly on a little green. The cottage itself is a bit tired, but very cosy. Low ceilings would make anyone over 5’ 10”, a bit of a challenge! The Galley kitchen, whilst well equipped, is not user friendly, for instance, the dishwasher is in the adjoining ‘utility’ room, so we found it easier washing up. There is not much room for storing non perishables, though the tall fridge was a godsend. The utility room with adjoining shower room, was great for decamping after a day at the beach. The staircase leading upstairs is not for someone with impaired mobility. Bedrooms are very cosy, beds super comfy and we all slept incredibly well. The bathroom is VERY tired. Polystyrene ceiling tiles?! Old bath and loo. Mixer tap shower head. Horrible blind. We managed ok, but it could be so much better. View from bathroom is stunning. We were a party of 5, including a 6 year old. I felt it would have been a bit of a squeeze with another couple. The location is absolutely amazing. Short walk to the coastal path that leads to a secret cove, (not for impaired mobility). Praa Sands a 10 min walk/drive, amazing for families. A Short drive takes you to, The Lizard, St Michaels Mount, Porthleven etc. ‘Flambards’ 15 mins away. So much more to see and do, a week was not enough!

Thank you for your valuable feedback, we will attempt to address your concerns where possible. Work has already started on the bathroom and will continue when there is a free week in November. I’m sorry that you hadn’t seen from the photos that the cottage has a galley kitchen and what a pity you hadn’t noticed the huge cupboard for dry provisions, opposite the door, that would have made things a lot easier for you, I’m sure. I’m so pleased you found the beds super comfy and all managed to sleep incredibly well. Rinsey cove is still one of the few coves in Cornwall where you are allowed to take your dogs to all year round, we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. Property Owner

Really comfortable with lots of personal touches that give it real character. A variety of outside spaces to relax during the day. Benefits from a nice downstairs shower room and decent Utility space. A cosy sitting room / dining area that would I am sure be super cosy in winter. Direct contact with the owner was also much appreciated.

  • "Evergreen was a really lovely cottage and very clean."

There were vases of wild flowers and a bottle of Prosecco to greet us which was a very nice touch. One of the double rooms had a bed that was very soft and the picture showed nothing behind the cottage when there is actually a large house, but these things did not affect our enjoyment. The area was great for walking and very quiet. We would love to return.

Brigitte was very helpful when I asked for local advice & gave us some great links of things to do in the area. The kitchen, although small, was far better equipped than almost every place we have ever stayed in (and that is a lot), with a great range cooker, endless hot water and superb appliances. We stayed in October and the central heating was really efficient - already on for our arrival with logs and kindling for the fire. The house was cosy and warm with no trace of damp, and we looked forward to returning every afternoon to enjoy sharing good food and wine and playing games at the large dining table and relaxing in front of the fire. Perfect for dogs, they can enter via the back door which opens into the utility room which is spacious and warm with a hardy floor for wet and muddy hounds to dry and clean up in before enjoying the fireside! (works for muddy/sandy humans too - with shower adjoining utility!!). We could hear the sea on quiet nights and the location was peaceful and safe for pets and children. Two of our party had very successful fishing from the rocks off Rinsey Cove at high tide. It was a longer and steeper climb down to the cove than we expected, so be prepared to give yourself a workout. We really loved Evergreen and would certainly return.

All of the antique French furnishings add a dash of luxury to what is already a very pretty cottage. It is also very near so many places of interest. From the cottage we went to Porthleven, Mousehole, St. Agnes, St. Ives and crossed by ferry from Falmouth to St. Mawes. We also visited the Minack Theatre. • "Beautiful, well appointed home."

Felt very cosy with small luxuries like faux fur throws, hot water bottles for each bed, plenty of deep soft pillows, and a great kitchen ( v small but everything you need is there): Le Creuset cookware, lovely crockery. The owner has a fine artistic eye and the home has wonderful pieces of furniture and pottery. Has board games, DVDs and a few books too. Not ‘on’ the coast paths but only a 3 min walk diwn a quiet path. You can see the sea from the bedrooms at the front of the house. Spectacular beaches/path. Praa Sands is a lovely long sandy beach, coast path to Porthleven is wild and rugged but easily walkable. Worth the walk for a pub lunch/fish and chips sitting on the harbour front. Space for all your walking gear and to do your washing/drying in a roomy utility area if needed. Our dog loved it. Lovely touch: dog bowls, poo bags and dog chews provided. Sitting room has a log fire too. We would definitely recommend this house. Only one negative that you can’t do anything about: relatively low ceiling in sitting room for my husband but he’s 6ft 3....we all loved the house though!

The rear garden is small and overlooked, so not secluded. The boot sale mentioned by the owner in notes could be amplified as a selling point, as it is very big and varied, well worth going to. It would be useful if some notes could be left about the local eateries/pubs as clients have not left that info. Overall a good location, with quick access on to the coastal path.

The house is ideal for two to four people, but due to the small amount of downstairs living space (lounge and kitchen) I think six would have been too much. I think that this should be noted in your review for Helpful Holidays. The beds were very comfortable and the house clean with nice touches of scones, jam, cream, milk and a bottle of wine left for our arrival. It is ideal place for walking and touring, and we would love to return to this area again.

The dining area has a huge table with benches/chairs and is ideal for seating the whole family.

The sweet galley kitchen has a distinctive range-style cooker, and from here you access a porch which has a door to the garden.

Open tread stairs lead to four pretty bedrooms, two romantic king size doubles, one of which has views over the countryside; a single with a 4' antique French bed, and another single with ornate French bed.

They share a bright and airy bathroom, whilst on the ground floor there is a shower room.

About the location

RINSEY COVE

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks – a Post Office and general stores, beach cafe with fish & chips, and a beach/surf shop stocked with everything you could need for a great day at the beach. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birthplace of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers.

Note: There is low head height on the landing (5'8" beams).
Note: Single bedroom suitable for a child only.
Note: Maximum of 5 adults plus either a child or baby
