  • "We spent a week at Little Westwards and have to thank Melanie for making us so welcome."

The accommodation is excellent, everything clean and in good condition, very comfortable beds and sofas and plenty of parking Also welcome gifts were very much appreciated by us and our dog! I would certainly recommend staying here, it was an ideal base for all the areas we wanted to visit and the property would definitely be on the list for future trips. Many thanks again Melanie. Kathy, Lance and Harley.

Dear Kathy and Lance Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback for us and Little Westwards. We really appreciate it and thank you for choosing to stay with us on this visit . The weather was not as kind as it could have been but luckily as you are "old hands" on Cornwall you didn`t let that deter you or prevent you getting out to some of your favourite spots. It was lovely to meet you and Harley and we really hope to see you all again in the future. Kind regards from all of us Mel, Melanie and Lugo Property Owner

Melanie was the perfect host so helpful & on hand if needed. The accomodation is in the perfect spot an ideal location for access to cornwalls coastline. I recommend getting the train to St Ives it's ony a10 minute ride & the views are breathtaking.

Dear Jayne Thank you so much for such lovely comments. We really appreciate you taking time to send feedback for your stay and we are so glad that with the help of the weather, you all enjoyed your time in Cornwall at Little Westwards. I would say you almost had the perfect weather week and with crowds ebbing slightly you had less people as you moved around the area.Even the train strike didn`t stop you doing local train trips and enabling you to leave the car parked up for a while. Hoping you are all settled in at home again and when Cornwall comes to the top of your holiday destination list again you know where we are. The accommodation is well equipped with comfy beds, in a peaceful setting with good outdoor space too. Lots of little touches make it a very comfortable / relaxing stay. It was ideal for our family holiday with 2 little ones aged 6 and 8!

The accommodation was immaculate. The host was very friendly and went over and above to sort out a problem with the oven. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they gave us valuable information on places to visit. The property was very well placed for amenities, although the narrow roads took a bit of getting used to. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Dear Carol Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us feedback ,we really appreciate it and are so pleased you enjoyed your time here. It is ideally situated to get to all the places you might like to visit whilst on the magical Cornish coast. The host’s Melanie & Mel a lovely people, full of information on what’s going on in the area, where to visit and useful tips on getting there. The property is perfect, clean and has everything you would need for a real home from home break. Our 2 dogs were literally welcomed with open arms by Melanie and a delightful welcome package left for us and the dogs was a lovely touch. Beautiful fresh flowers all through the property was so nice and fab beds giving a really restful nights sleep every night after a busy day of walking the coast paths. Would highly recommend and definitely visit again.

Dear Heather Thank you so much for such lovely feedback-it means a lot really !!! We just want everyone who stays to get the most out of their time here so if people are "old hands" we know our input isn`t needed but just highlight some local things that may not be known about. New cooker installed yesterday and of course the old one decided to work perfectly so it defeated the electrician too !! Lots of luck in the upcoming regattas for you and Tamsin and hope if we are supporting Claire we might bump into you or Teddy and Toby at least. Kindest Melanie,Mel and Lugo x Property Owner

Melanie and Mel are such wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble, with Melanie ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Our family agreed that accommodation at Little Westwards is the best self-catering we have had the pleasure of being able to enjoy, so much so, that we had re-booked for October half term only a couple of days into our stay! In an extremely quiet village and with plenty of outdoor and parking space, you are immediately struck by the location on arrival, which really is the ideal base for exploring and even cycling from. (Thank you for storing my bike in the garage, Melanie!) Everywhere outside is very secure and our Cockapoo, Rosie, loved the freedom of being able to roam. The accommodation itself was immaculately clean and beautifully appointed yet felt so homely and welcoming. The fudge and welcome treats (including a fabulous dog toy!) were a lovely touch, with even a personalised card from Melanie for our arrival. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to enjoy family meals and plenty of space for a week’s shop. As a family of four, we loved having two bathrooms, with their own hot water tanks for baths and showers – so useful! The beds were extremely comfortable and we loved our week so much we didn’t want to leave. We are very much looking forward to coming back to Little Westwards and planning our next adventure. Thank you so much Melanie and Mel for making us so welcome and for allowing us to enjoy your accommodation.

  • "We had a great stay."

It's a small property, but has everything you need and the owners are really helpful; on hand if you need them, but not if you don't! Many lovely 'extras' provided and quality bedding, sheets etc. The listing called the property an apartment, which was confusing, but we rang to query this as we wanted a cottage not an apartment (which we thought of as wholly contained within another building). It turned out it is really a separate,self-contained, semi-detached part of the owners' home. Unless I had queried this, we probably would not have booked the property, which would have been a shame. The comfort score is only a '4' because the beds were rather too firm for me (issues with my back). If you like a firm mattress, this is no problem at all. One other comment; there was milk, tea and coffee when we arrived and a lovely bottle of wine, but a small loaf and some butter would have helped as we had to pop out for that as soon as we arrived. (This has been pretty common in other cottages we have stayed in). However, we were sent a list of what would be in the welcome pack, so we should have realised!

Hi Catherine Thank you for your feedback and glad that you enjoyed revisiting this part of Cornwall. I`m sorry that you found the beds a bit firm -its such a difficult one to get right as too soft can be equally uncomfortable. The description of the property is designed to get across that it is not a stand alone cottage and I have stated that it is independent of the main house, but will take a look and see if I can tweak this further. I hope you enjoyed Wells on your journey home, Kind regards Melanie Property Owner

The owners, who are on-site, left fresh flowers and a generous welcome package which we appreciated. While the accommodation as a whole was spacious and generally comfortable we found the main bed quite hard (as reported by a previous guest) and the heating (three completely different and individually set electric radiators plus two towel rails) a bit of a nuisance to get right during warm days and chilly mornings and evenings. It was also unfortunate that there were problems with the TV when we first arrived and although the owners were prompt to try to rectify that we found the process for finding and selecting programmes a bit long winded compared with just turning on and entering a channel number. China, cookware and kitchen tools were adequate but all the glasses were large, a set of small tumblers would be a good addition. These weren't big problems but just a bit irritating.

  • "We had a great week at Little Westwards."

The apartment was lovely and all the fixtures and furniture were of a very high standard and Everywhere was spotless clean. The bed in the main bedroom was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Melanie the owner was very welcoming and was always on hand for advice on where to visit and any other information you might need. The welcome treats for us and our dog on arrival were especially appreciated after a long journey. The gated garden area was ideal so the dog could have freedom to roam the property both inside and out. I would definitely return to Little Westwards in the future

  • "Little westwards was an amazing place to stay it was so clean had everything we needed and more."

We requested a cot for our 3 month old and Melanie sent a picture to make sure it was okay. The information we received with directions and instructions was so helpful and very welcomed after a long drive. There was ample space for parking, very secure and also just a lovely place to stay. There were welcome goodies for us and also the dog. Milk was put in the fridge so that we could have a cup of tea. This was our first family holiday with our little boy and it didn’t disappoint not only was the place lovely but it was extremely close to all attractions and walking distance to a lovely pub the trevelyn which was exceptional following a recommendation from Melanie. She was able to tell us where to eat where to visit and also offered to help with anything we needed. Melanie, Mel and Lugo were fab and very friendly and I cannot wait to stay again. Can not recommend little westwards enough. Above and beyond well worth a stay. Xx

Cleanliness was 10/10 and you wanted for nothing. There was flowers, wine and welcome gifts on arrival, all beyond expectations. • "Owners, Melanie and family were once again very welcoming."

(It was our second stay with them.) They accommodated my elderly mother (92) by putting in a high-backed firm chair for her (as the main sofa is soft and squishy for relaxing in). Lots of lovely welcome gifts for us and dog. Very helpful with advice about area. I could see where they had made improvements from a few moths ago, e.g. new oven, radiator, door lock, dog bed and even ordered a coffee maker after I enquired if there was one there. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are keen to do their best to make you comfortable and have a great time. Cottage is well appointed and garden is secure for your dog. Comprehensive information pack in cottage on places to visit and eat at, walks, and manuals for equipment, e.g. new radiator. Only did small smile for comfort as my husband and I had a little back ache in the regular double bed, but that's probably just us! My mum was very comfortable in the big bed. Otherwise, very comfortable in the cottage, with everything you need. My husband liked the little touches like Arran Aromatics hand soap and moisturiser in the bathrooms. Great base for local area, super quiet village with local walks and lots of places nearby to visit, e.g. gardens, walks, restaurants. So many places are dog-friendly too, including Seal Sanctuary at Gweek. We can't wait to come back again!

  • "We absolutely loved Little Westwards."

It was extremely clean and very homely. It was extremely well equipped and the spec was very high. The beds were so comfortable - to the extent that my daughter made me ask the owner where we could buy the mattresses from!!! The location itself was very quiet, could even hear the owls hooting. It was a very short drive from Marazion and St. Michael's Mount, and easily within reach were Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth and Lands End (amongst others). Would highly recommend this place to anyone. It's also on a single level so would be ideal for anyone who has issues climbing stairs. Also very dog friendly, to the degree that they left dog treats and dog bowls and bed for use. They also left milk, wine and biscuits for when we arrived. Loved it.

About the location

GOLDSITHNEY

Marazion 1.5 miles; Penzance 4 miles; Helston 11 miles.

A typically Cornish country village with picturesque houses, shops and village pubs, Goldsithney is set back from the coast, thus escaping the main tourist rush, yet lying close to all the main attractions. Dominating the area and just 2 miles away is the off shore island castle of St Michael's Mount - reaching it via the causeway when the tide is out is a must. Right on the doorstep there are fabulous beaches, the coastal path (winding its way over the cliff tops) and plenty of sailing and fishing. Visit Penzance, with its slightly bohemian air, the cliff-top theatre at Minack or the stunningly beautiful fishing villages of Marazion and Mousehole - a superb base for exploring beautiful Cornwall.
